you can take $1 coin and rest on card. They will happy do this instead of split two card payment.

      • sure but I plan on buying multiple gift cards…. :o

      • +1

It’s 10% off $100 so if they buying 1 card it’s not a problem and wouldn’t need the $1. Im guessing op is asking if they buy multiple cards in one go.

    • +5

As if 10% just isn't enough for you right? You really want to be that guy? 😂

      • +5

I really hate being that person and making others wait because of my bargain hunting tactics :D

but seriously, it is probably worth going when there are not too many people at the checkout…

        • +3

Just do it. Everyone is allowed. Stop putting yourself second

    • +2

When I used to work at ALDI about 2 years ago, there was no way to split payments on two cards. You'll have to just buy each of the cards seperately in different transactions as it'll come to $90 each after the discount

Note: you will incur a 0.5% surcharge, so it'll come to $88.64 after the surcharge and HSBC rebate, effectively an 11.36% discount

    • +4

Hi, just ask if you can do each gift card as a separate transaction because we can't do mixed payments of two cards on a single transaction. Also as @yty1997628 said give them a $1 coin if you only want to pay $99. They won't mind doing that for you at all

      • thanks you so much for confirming! much appreciated :)

        • +2

Why would you need to? Doesn’t it cost $90 for a $100 voucher?

          • @WhyAmICommenting: if I bought more than one gift card I would, but it looks like the best way is to just request to pay each card in a separate transaction. :)

            • +1

@polarq: Just remember to go when it's less busy so you don't hold up queues 😁

              • +3

@Craze: But with Aldi it seems like there's always a queue because when it's less busy the cashiers bail until there's minimal service. It's only when the queue is like 6 metres long they open up another register to serve. Makes it the worst shop to duck in for simply one item, having no express or self checkout.

    • +1

Yeah it's a pain in the @$$ to do split transactions. Can only do split transactions if paying with
      CASH (first) + CARD
      Giftcards + Cash
      Giftcards + Card

Cannot do split payment between 2 cards. I am unsure about payment with giftcards for these ones. That being said I haven't heard about this deal atm.

  • +4

Can anyone confirm if this will the case in QLD too?

    • +1

I want to know the answer as well

  • Welcome to the world of Discount Gift Cards Aldi! Will be looking to pick up an Amazon one.

  • Good luck everybody!

  • Madness deal!!!

  • Good deal!

  • -1

Dont forget, people who have citibank credit card have a 5% cashback offer between 25th Nov and 2nd Dec

    • +2

Does Aldi have an accepted merchant code?

    • Not all, I don’t think.

  • +1

My catelogue just arrived for the week starting 16 November in NSW (no dice), hopefully will appear in the next.

  • +2

To those unfamiliar with Aldi bargains, remember to protect your chin and keep your arms up.

The number 1 rule is there are no rules.

    • +2

Don't worry, the 43 years old mum & 77 years old nanny don't really know how to shop on Amazon. lol
should be less fighting than toys or air fryers. lol

  • -2

Why is there no "Ultimate They" card?

    • -3

I heard that they are developing a new gift card called the 'Ultimate Pronoun' for the mentally challenged.

    • -3

Not a woke loser, that is why

    • +4

While both the replies so far have been rather disgusting, I'm curious which shops they'd actually include? Brands have unisex, clothes aren't as stereotypically gendered these days (ie womenswear is more than dresses and skirts), you can't get something like a non-binary phone or TV and adding anything predominantly male or female based will just open a can of worms.

      • -1

If PC is your thing there is a universal Ultimate Gift card.

  • Is this only for Amazon or can they be used at JBHIFI

  • Bezos card looks good

  • You can't stack the TCN giftcards at JB's online store. The card is entered as a credit card, so if the item you're buying is more than the giftcard value then it won't work.

  • +4

    Wednesday 23/11
6am - watch AUS vs FRA
8am - go to Aldi, to join the queue
    8:30am - ???
    8:45am - Profit

    • +3

9AM received thank you letter from the boss?

    • Vive la France 🇫🇷

    • definitely going to work late that day, might skip aldi though

  • +3

Never noticed where the gift cards are at ALDI. Are they on a rack or do you have to ask for them

    • +3

In my local Aldi, it’s next to the nuts/refrigerator section, displayed the same (hanging individually) like Colesworth

  • -4

could you go a day before and hide them under some other item in store? lol

    • -3

Yes, hide them in your backpack, come back the next morning find them in your backpack and pay for them

Disclaimer: (OBVIOUSLY SATIRE I DO NOT CONDONE STEALING)

  • There is going to be madness and some crazy people will probably line up from 6am.

    • isn't open at 8am?

    • Do people really line up at 6am?

      • +1

        yes.
and does the Aldi in my area almost always result in a shouting match to almost a full on fight on a deal saturday?

        also yes.

        • +1

Lining up at 6 am doesn't make sense when 20x points can be easily availed at Colesworth almost every week.
The TVs on the ALDI deals aren't really a good deal as similar deals can be availed at other stores and easily accessible.

Only if your time has no value, then go ahead to line up at 6 am.

          • +1

            @crazyboy:

Only if your time has no value, then go ahead to line up at 6 am.

    • +13

If only OzBargain had a Reminder function.

  • +1

Time to hide some cards in the freezers.

  • Sheesh i need 30x $100 gift cards to buy a 4090 on amazon…. This isn’t going to be fun

  • Can I use prepaid Mastercard with saving account to pay for giftcard? I think it is a yes as Aldi ETFPOS machine looks aged

    • If it’s the prepaid coles mastercard one, you can only use them as credit but not savings

      • so you have to pay the surchage with prepaid mastercard eventhough you swipe the card?

        • It’s credit card surcharge. Doesn’t matter how you use it, swipe or tap.

        • +4

Any payments that go through the Visa or Mastercard network will attract a 0.5% surcharge at ALDI, regardless of whether you tap, insert or swipe. Visa and Mastercard are considered credit networks, even though you may be using a debit card or a prepaid card.

Any payments that go through the EFTPOS network (processed as either SAV or CHQ) will not attract any surcharge.

As far as I know, ALDI has not implemented least-cost routing (LCR) or merchant-choice routing (MCR) for any dual-network debit cards issued in Australia, so if you tap a physical dual-network debit card, it will always default to Visa or Mastercard and therefore attract the 0.5% surcharge.

To use the EFTPOS network for dual-network debit cards:

          • Insert the physical debit card and select SAV or CHQ (whichever is relevant for your card), or

          • Add your debit card to a mobile wallet and select EFTPOS SAV and/or EFTPOS CHQ before you tap your mobile wallet. Keep in mind that dual-network debit cards may only support Visa or Mastercard when added to a particular mobile wallet, so this is not always possible. For example, a truckload of dual-network debit cards support EFTPOS payments from Apple Pay, but very few dual-network debit cards support EFTPOS payments from Samsung Pay.

  • Didn't these cards used to be 15% off?

    • +1

This is the Coles deal. They should be released end of the month or early Dec

      • Can you link to previous deal?

  • +2

Think everyone here is for the Amazon ones.

  • $100 Home is the highest value at local.

i think we should have ozbagains 16th birthday party at aldi. everyone will be there. whos with me?

  • +3

Can anyone confirm if Officeworks sell these cards. Real OGs will be lining up at Officeworks for the price beat.

    • +1

      no they don't

    • Officeworks has never sold Amazon gift cards (AFAIK). I did not see any when I was at Officeworks over the weekend.

Officeworks used to sell Ultimate Eats, Ultimate Beauty & Spa and Ultimate Thanks gift cards, but they disappeared a few months ago. It would actually make no sense for Officeworks to sell any Ultimate gift cards, because they are a participating retailer for some Ultimate gift cards (e.g. Home, Kids). The last thing Officeworks wants customers to do is purchase price-beaten Ultimate gift cards, then purchase more price-beaten Ultimate gift cards using price-beaten Ultimate gift cards as a payment method, etc etc etc. Although Officeworks is not on some Ultimate gift cards at the moment, there is nothing stopping Blackhawk Network (the owner of the Ultimate gift card scheme) from accidentally adding Officeworks to an irrelevant Ultimate gift card. I mean, Blackhawk Network accidentally added JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys to the Ultimate Thanks and Baby & Mum gift cards (respectively) and this caused problems for Blackhawk Network!

      • +1

Oh well, worth a shot - but that all makes perfect sense. Officeworks definitely wouldn't want a bunch of professionals exploiting that cycle.

      • Are there limits to how many Amazon GC you can add to your account? Kind of like Apple and its $4999 limit

        • I’m not aware of a limit. There probably is a limit, I just haven’t heard of it.

  • Buy a shopper card with Commbank (about 10% off) offer. Use that to pay for amazon gift card ;)

  • +1

does aldi carry denominations bigger than $100 for amazon gc's?

  • Thanks.

  • Amazon giftcards bought from Amazon.com.au state:-
"Amazon.com.au Gift Cards can only be used to purchase eligible goods and services on Amazon.com.au as provided in the Amazon.com.au Gift Card Terms and Conditions. To purchase a gift card for Amazon's website in another country, please visit: Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.cn, Amazon.fr, Amazon.de, Amazon.in, Amazon.it, Amazon.jp, Amazon.uk, or Amazon.es"

So, I'd becareful if you intend to use these for items from international Amazon. I find it can be much cheaper on those sites even after delivery to Australia!

    • +2

Yes that is expected. Although you can still purchase international items from US or UK via amazon.com.au

  • -8

If you live in bondi, Darlinghurst or eastlakes. Don’t bother , I already hogged all 30 cards

    • How?

Also its 15 days away, surely they restock.

      • If ALDI restocks their gift card shelves similar to Coles, Woolworths, BIG W and JB Hi-Fi, a restock depends on whether:

        • A representative from a gift card distributor visits an ALDI location and drops off more stock, or

        • A gift card distributor mails gift card stock to the store and it is up to store staff to restock the shelves themselves.

Whether this will happen within the next 15 days at a given ALDI location is anyone's guess.

  • +1

Has anyone been able to confirm yet whether this is solely in Victoria or in other states as well?

  • Just went to my local ALDI, there are only 50 $100 Amazon.
10 people is all you need to end the deal.
Let's start waiting outside the door at 4am. lol

    • +1

Stores should have more stock arrive, we have.

      • +3

        Yoda? You that is?

    • That's plenty. Already sold out at garden city before 10am

  • Has any other store discounted amazon gift cards in the past? First time ive noticed them ever go on sale.

    • +5

It depends on your definition of a “store”.

      • I do not recall Coles, Woolworths and BIG W ever selling Amazon gift cards for a discount.

      • Coles and BIG W have run bonus points promotions, but I think those were one-offs. (Yes, it is not a discount, but it is still worth noting.)

      • Australia Post sold $100 Amazon gift cards at a 5% discount through their website.

      • Card.Gift sold Amazon gift cards at a 5% discount through their website.

      • Afterpay sold $50 Amazon gift cards with $5 bonus credit on the gift card (which is equivalent to a 9.09% discount).

      • Gift Card Exchange sold Amazon gift cards at a 5% discount through their website.

There are also other ways to procure discounted Amazon gift cards, including:

      • A handful of discounted gift card portals selling Amazon gift cards at a 3-5% discount everyday.

      • Using an Ampol in-store cashback offer on a debit or credit card to purchase Amazon gift cards at Ampol locations selling Amazon gift cards (although those locations are few and far between).

      • Purchasing a multi-retailer gift card through bonus cashback deals (e.g. Cashrewards, Shopback) or bonus gift card deals (e.g. Prezzee) and exchanging them for Amazon gift cards.

      • Thanks for that list. Seems this is the first time we are seeing a greater than 5% off deal on amazon cards which is nice. Now just have to wait.

  • Get a few thousands worth of Amazon GC and then your inflation concern is partially sorted…..

  • Can someone confirm this is in the ACT too?

    • Yeah picked some up in greenway.

  • This deal will be in the upcoming Aldi catalogue.
