    • Dinner tonight

      Deliveroo

      1 x Enchilada Mild
      Add Chopped Onions
      Add Coriander
      Add Roasted Jalapeno Salsa
      1 x Chipotle Mayonnaise
      3 x Chipotle Seasoned Fries
      1 x Service Fee
      Delivery Free

      $53.82 with store discount (20%)
      $40.58 total paid (32.6%)

GyG App is showing a cost of $49.70 for the same thing. 17.5% cheaper than going out and buying it myself.

Quite a bit more savings if I didn't add the extras. GyG doesn't charge for those. Deliveroo does.

  • Nice, bonus $35 with (25% off $100, and 20% off $50 x 2). Hence $235 worth, paid $155 (approx 34% off)

  • OOS… 25%

  • Also don't forget referrals if new user as well as any new user coupons.

RIP anyone who has a Deliveroo voucher

    • +4

wtf am i gonna do with my gift cards =/

  • +11

This is straight up some criminal stuff…
This gift cards sale was pretty much a fund raiser to fund their exodus.

    • +3

Yeah it sure seems that way. Hopefully Shopback weren't aware of their situation…

    • Exit liquidity!!!
      Crypto vibes anyone?

    Outrageous!

We have today made the sad announcement that we are leaving Australia. This has been a difficult decision to make. We have enjoyed serving you the amazing food that Australia is known for, working with thousands of brilliant restaurants and riders.

Deliveroo, like all other companies, is now doing business in challenging economic conditions, which requires us to take difficult decisions. We always aim to deliver the best possible service for our consumers wherever we operate, and if we cannot do that we will be prepared to review our position.

In Australia, we have concluded that achieving a sustainable position of leadership in the market is not possible without a disproportionate level of investment which would have highly uncertain returns.

On the basis of this decision, Deliveroo Australia has been placed into administration. The director of Deliveroo Australia has appointed Michael Korda, Andrew Knight and Craig Shepard of KordaMentha as voluntary administrators. To find out more, including information for creditors, please visit click here. You will receive further communications from the Administrators shortly.

    What this means for you

Deliveroo Australia has ceased operations, meaning you can no longer place orders on Deliveroo in Australia.

You will still be able to access your customer account for up to 6 months from this date onwards. After this period your customer account will be closed. Within this period while your account is open, you can download your customer information.

Thank you for ordering with Deliveroo.

For any further information, please visit the administrators’ website at: https://kordamentha.com/creditors

We want to thank you again for using Deliveroo.

    RIP

  • +1

Deliveroo is out of business. What will happen to our gift cards?

    • +2

That's why it was so cheap =.=

deliveroo took all the money and ran

      • +5

we should take action immediately. I dont know how if I raise a case with Shopback or Fair trade? Atleast they should have informed in advance. This is pure fraud

        • I agree, they can’t just sell gift cards and run

    • Would like to know this too, still have about ~$80 left

  • -1

They'll surely have to return the funds?

  • Omg RIP

  • How do we get out money back?

  • OMG ? I have loaded $200 to my account , how will they refund it ???

    • +2

You will be a creditor. Or if you paid by credit card, contact your bank to start the dispute process.

  • +8

$100 gift card sale 5 days before closing. Luckily didn’t buy any but this seems like it should be illegal

  • +3

OMG we all got ripped off

    • -3

      Badly!

Can we contact ShopBack who sold the gift card to take responsibility for this ? This is horrible

      • ping @gotyourback

  • +3

Ridiculously deceptive conduct. Gift card purchasers are unsecured creditors. They needed an injection of cash and stole it from people using this deal.

  • +3

And shouldn't Deliveroo announce it in advance?

  • Also got bitten by this sudden closure, what the heck!

  • +4

    Exit scammed. Wowee!

  • +5

    This is criminal

  • +3

    @gotyourback

Can you comment on this, how ShopBack is going to help the victims as we bought the gift cards from your app. How do we get our money back ?

  • +2

Bloody hell….just called their number and they said, we are having outage in Aus, we are still operating. Ya right…..lost money in my acc credit…

    • +1

Maybe the staff didn't know about it either, just like twitter

    (26) Will gift cards be honoured?
As the company ceased trading immediately, gift cards cannot be honoured or refunded.
Customers with unexpired/unused gift cards are deemed to be unsecured creditors in the Administration and should submit a Proof of Debt form. Further information on how to lodge a Proof of Debt form will be provided in due course.

    • That is messed up.

  • +2

Wtf. I have $250 in gift cards plus any existing credits on my account

  • +1

    Fkin rugpull

  • I have few deliveroo gift cards on Prezzee. Now it is difficult to find out the existing balance

    • you can still check in app

  • Deliveroo gone from Australia! What to do with these purchased ShopBack gift cards now?

    • +5

      Give them as presents.

      • I am serious. Is ShopBack going to exchange or return these gift cards?

        • +4

I don't think shopback going to do anything…Deliveroo is in administration so whatever administrator decide from here onwards and chances of them returning money for gift cards are slim.

  • +5

Seriously wtf. At least a weeks notice could be given?!

  • +5

Guys take a screenshot or do a recording for your evidence showing the credit in your Deliveroo account before they shut down the app completely! Then present this evidence to your bank for a potential credit card charge back

    • +1

Good idea - perhaps show your account details in the recording as well

    • It says “Sorry, the code couldn’t be applied to your account.”

  • +2

    Rough as. Massive rug pull

  • +9

    Oh man, I bought $700 worth…ouch.

    • +1

that's awful. sorry to hear. I hope shopback followed by a CC dispute will pull through a refund.

      • +2

This is will indirectly blow back on shopback. Hope they do the right thing in helping customers are impacted as the level of confidence is quite low.

    • oof

    • Damn🤞

    • Ouch. Hope it works out for you - that's a big loss!

    • I feel $600 worth of your pain: -(

  • I have $180 in gift cards ! They won't refund they said on chat.

    • is this deliveroo's live chat?

  • -6

Is OP liable for the losses?

    • Only one way to find out…

    • OP may be in same boat. He may not even get his commission back from deliveroo

    • Why would OP be liable for losses? They are not associated with shopback or deliveroo at all?

        • +1

Don’t know where it all went wrong, most people can’t take jokes anymore..
I swear it wasn’t like this until 10-20 years ago.

        • How come the OP could've known? Even I would've posted it

          • @sub102: If you had posted it, Heaps of Chips would come asking you for money then.

      • +2

they're going to be out of pocket because the 25% cashback would have been the "net" after they took their cut of commission.

So if they don't receive the payment of commissions from Deliveroo then they are out the $25 + their overheads and headaches from fielding all the angry customers etc

  • +2

    Mf's

  • Yikes, feel scammed.. no more buying shopback giftcard for me

  • I wonder if they will pay the dues to the deliveroo drivers

    • ya…feel for those

    • they need to submit proof of debt claim. My mate who owns a restaurant is caught in the situation as well cause Deliveroo havent paid him for all the orders. Crazy

  • +1

My plan is to chat with Shopback for refund. If they refuse it, then I will lodge a credit card dispute as "The service could not be received"

    • for credit card option…does that work. I am not even sure if I paid for the gift cards using CC or shopback credit

      • damn paid via shopback credit.

    • +2

this elaborate rug pull has been architected such that this won't work.

you technically received your GC, you just can't redeem it.

I doubt CC will help you in this instance

EDIT: for clarification, if you had purchased the GC from deliveroo directly then it wouldn't be an issue, the architecture of this setup is such that you have a middle person and it convolutes things significantly

      • +2

You seem to misunderstand how it works.

If you buy something, no matter where you get it from, and it doesn't work, you can ask for a chargeback.

How that changes for a company in voluntary administration, I'm not sure.

        • I hope that you are right and I'm wrong, I will be trying to chargeback regardless but won't be holding my breath.

I get where you're coming from but gift cards and financial instruments can fall into a different bucket when it comes to chargebacks.
For example there was technically still a window for redemption so what if someone had ordered a christmas party on the credits and still run the chargeback, how would the company be able to verify you didn't already receive the goods?

Maybe you're alluding to the fact about whether or not you "can" ask for a chargeback. I mean technically even if there's a misunderstanding with the merchant you could do that.

      • We do understand it but it doesn't hurt to lodge a chargeback.

    • +5

      Shopback reply:
We are in the midst of looking into this and will get back to you via email once we have received an update from the team in-charge.

I will lodge a chargeback if I don't hear from them in 7 days

  • I got $350ish credit, was about to order yesterday somehow not, sigh!

  • -1

Deliveroo operates in over 200 cities across 12 countries, including Australia, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

So just order to randoms. Or family in other countries.

    • +3

Assuming you can redeem Deliveroo AU gift cards in other regions… which I doubt

      • Tried and doesn't work

      • You can I just tried

        • Which region?

          • @CodeXD: CSnt use the credit.. damm unless store access aud

            • @Turd: Who's gonna set up a Deliveroo store in the UK that sells Uber gift cards in AUD?

        • how will it help…using in other regions?

        • which region? mine didnt allow to load the credits

    • I just tried, it doesnt work

    • Yet they still had the gall to exit scam with discounted gift cards…

  • +4

This is worst deal of the year. They UNO reversed us, they outplayed us to get a few more days money to prop up the failing business.

We basically threw our money away , thx for nuffin' OP, Scamback and non-Deliveroo & Gerry Harvey.

  • +7

That's the last time I'll use ShopBack credit to pay for a gift voucher. What a horrible experience.

    • By shopback credit do you mean current the cashback that you have saved up?

      • +2

Yes, the gift card purchase process applied existing saved cashback that had been earned. That amount of cashback is now thrown away, whereas if I had withdrawn the cashback amount to bank account and paid for the gift cards in full by credit card there would at least be potential for credit card protection. Whether credit card protection would be of any benefit in this case isn't clear, but it means in future I should never use future saved cashback for a gift card purchase.

  • Ed McManus, where does this scammer live?

  • +3

Wonder if ShopBack has settled the account with Deliveroo for all those gc purchase?
