Xiaomi Mi Precision Screwdriver Kit $22 Delivered (Discount Applied in Cart) @ Panmi

840

I think this screwdriver set might have been the first thing I ever purchased via OzBargain back in the day, and it's pretty much perfect for my needs, which have included computer building, fixing glasses, taking apart weird stuff with weird screws, etc.

The description on the site says things about an "All-metal gearbox", "Powerful magnetic motor" and "High-quality rechargeable lithium battery", which seems like a mistake? Unless I've been using mine wrong, all these years? I believe this is a 'use your wrists' type set.

The title says it's the OG Xiaomi Mi set, but then scrolling down the page, it switches to Mi x Wiha?
Unsure what the difference is anyway, it looks the same except for the logo. If someone from Panmi is lurking, they can probs confirm.

    • I believe that this it is the original and Xiaomi and Wiha tools collaborated to make this product, therefore "Mi x Wiha".

These are revised model, which dropped the Wiha Branding (apparently poorer quality than the Wiha Branded one too).

Product page might have been updated:

Please note: WIHA model is already EOL (no longer produced). This is not the WIHA model

  • Is this the same as the ones that get down to around $12?
The magnetic bit holder/case is nice to use.

    • This is great. Got one. Thanks.
      This should be a deal

    • Im confused now what to order 🤔

      • There are plenty of cheap sets around. As one review noted on the Aliexprees set "Quality isn't good, It might be made of brass material cheap metal. But for light screw it might work well".

I have the Xiaomi Wiha set and quality on those are excellent. No idea how this compares now that Wiha are not involved but suspect better than the cheaper $8.21 set linked above.

    • This is unbranded though?

  • Ordered, thank you!

  • If anyone has this set can they list what sizes of Torx bits it has? When zooming in the image is not terribly clear.

      • Awesome! Thanks very much, the current Torx set I have only goes down to T4, so T2 is excellent.

  • I bought this before and can assure you they are definitely not electric for this price. At the time I bought there was an electric option on Aliexpress and the price jumped to around $50.

Better off without the motor - I have the Xiaomi one and it's torque is so weak, that you always have to manually use the screwdriver.

      • Or if you already have a 6.35mm standard electric screw driver one can buy a 6.35mm to 4mm adaptor like This. You can then use these smaller tips on it.

I'd be really careful using a large electric driver on tiny screws. Heads can get stripped really easily with too much torque at too high a speed.

What were you using it with?

I find it useful. You're meant to break the screw by hand, then use the motor to unscrew the rest of the screw once it's loose. Or thread the screw by hand, let the motor take over until the electronic clutch stops it, then torque it down manually by hand.

They're meant for really small screws used in electronic devices, e.g. 20 screws on a laptop. If your fastners need more torque, maybe you're using it on screws that are too large?

        • Agree with eug. When using it on small screws on electronic devices the torque is plenty to make light work of any screw once it is "started"

I love it and use it all the time.

          Great value for $22

  • Unity. Precision. Perfection.

  • Full metal static discharge danger..?

    • What do you mean?

      • Getting zapped by the screwdriver or the screwdriver zapping their electronics, presumably.

Best to be grounding yourself in either case anyway, even if the screws connect to ground plane on the board?

  • I have one of these sets and it's brilliant. Recommended.
