Milwaukee M12 TOUGHSHELL Heated Jacket $99 Delivered/C&C/in-Store, with 2.0Ah Battery (Was $269) @ Total Tools or Sydney Tools

1010

Was looking into getting a power tool brand heated jacket part utility, part novelty of it. Was a bit pricey just for that though. Got a marketing email from Total Tools about a Milwaukee sale and I was surprised to see the jacket is now at a clearance price of $99, including a battery so it's a full working kit.

Black: https://www.totaltools.com.au/clearance/181803v-milwaukee-12…

Grey: https://www.totaltools.com.au/clearance/181808v-milwaukee-12…

Blue: https://www.totaltools.com.au/clearance/181818v-milwaukee-12…

I thought it put on a very impressive, even if Todd didn't say so.

Edit: When I was checking yesterday delivery is still depended on the same stock checker, like they won't ship from interstate (from the look of it). So the OOS will only be for your area or state probably.

Thanks to LowRange for spotting same price at Sydney Tools but availability also varies for in store or delivery. Check both.

    oos for L

  • Summer is coming!

Very interested but not suitable in my area weather…even in the middle of winter.

If Ozito also have heated jacket I would have bought for winter fishing.
    All my tools are Ozito.

  • non avaiable near me says out of stock even for delivery

  • only Grey available for delivery in XL,

still got one, will be useful on the farm during winter (Tasmania)

    Getting error message.

SORRY MATE! IT SEEMS LIKE THIS PAGE HAS GONE WALKABOUTS…

You might think so at first. Until you have an illness where you feel extreme cold most days. Then you realise it's genius.

      • +4

From what i see with people here and i am not saying nuker is one of them. Just making a general statement.

Something is not for them. Therefore said thing should not exist.

    • +2

Serious question. Why do you think this product is dumb? Or even the dumbest as you so put it.

Not trying to pick a fight just curious to know why you think this way.

      • -8

An $20 underneath fleece jacket beats it hands down, and it works as long as you wear it, and likely works better.

        • +9

You ever worked in constant 3-5 degrees warehouses?

          Absolutely clueless.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: The only reason i know about these heated clothing items is because of my uncle. He used to work in chicago at the airport. They used to do stock inventory in walk in freezers.

Without these heated clothing. Their work day would be unbeareably cold.

            • +1

@xoom: In winter it would be warmer in the freezer.

            • +3

@[Deactivated]: There are a range of reasons why the heat the body produces may not be enough even when wrapped up. Very cold temperatures, prolonged period of cold and personal factors relating to the person. Why do you think people still die from cold exposure (eg homeless, explorers) when they wearing multiple layers of clothes? People who can’t afford heating still feel cold despite multiple layers. There’s a small market for heated jackets, but there is a reasonable use case.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Different people have different metabolism and some work is very sedentary.

My geologist cousin is tall and skinny. Heat just escape him easily.

He once did some sampling work in some mountain region where it's humid and cold. The company supplied him with heated jacket and pants and he said its the best thing and swear by it.

              • @Indomietable: OK, cool, I'm convinced now

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: sorry nuker, it's a bit late now.

next time back up your opinion with facts and you won't get nuked by down votes.

not every deal is for everyone, but at least provide value if you are going to comment.

i wish you better fortune in future posts, have a good weekend.

Good price, but most sizes oos .

    XXL in grey is available…

OOS all sizes. Wish I could have got one just for the extra battery and having a nice jacket for winter .

I like how all the sales pics are of blokey blokes doing trades work in the snow, and I'm sitting here considering getting it for WFH in winter lol

    • -2

Easy now. Dont go working up a sweat in your living room. While netflix blasting in the background.

      /s

      • Lol at the negs but it's true for me who WFH full time except I have Netflix on my 3rd monitor

        • Guess im getting negged because i was trolling you.

  • +2

My mates work in a warehouse, it's like 3 degrees in winter.

They're not allowed heaters, this is actually something very helpful for some people.

These blokes wear 3-4 layers, beanies etc

I also think someone trying to save money in winter, this could be cheaper to operate?

I know electric throw blankets are cheap tho!

    • Just imagine if you’re Russian… to fulfil orders… might work up a sweat… or not

  • +16

Sydney tools got them for the same price, free shipping https://sydneytools.com.au/product/milwaukee-m12hjbluex0-12v…

    • In store only it seems, couldn’t see much stock.

      • +2

Depends on the colour and size. Some will let you ship, guess it depends what is in the warehouse and what is in stores

    • +2

Amazing, grabbed one. Grey was available for free shipping.

Totally because I work in a cold warehouse… Not because I get chilly at my desk job working from home…

  • Does it come with a 3ah battery and bonus 2ah battery? Worth it just for that, there's $180 in batteries. But the jacket is a discontinued model according to the Milwaukee site.

Looks like TT is OOS, switch to Sydney Tools!

    • +1

      You wish mate

      Jacket + 2ah battery + charger

      • -1

Damn. No deal. Since it does not come with assorted milwaukee power tools.

        /wishfulthinking

        /s

      • Still a good deal then

        • +1

It comes with a battery. So not bad.

Down jackets have sold for more here. So this being an electric one would have have costed more to research, develop and manufacture.

          • @xoom: Ya we tell ourselves that to justify the buy lol

            • @Poor Ass: This is ozb. Buy first. Regret later.

              • @xoom: No ragrets lol

Always look at charge of mind policy

          • @xoom: Yep I got this cos I ain't buying a Michelin Man jacket …

  • +4

I just know I'll feel like a tool wearing it…

  • Would have been perfect for night shift….

At the moment it's pissing down and freezing cold on what is supposed to be almost summer.

Summer on the south coast, apparently

  • This may be stupid but would this be ok for travelling? E.g europe winter trip

  • +1

their pictures that show where the heating elements are seem to contradict themselves.. looks like there's two strips in front.. but there's only one going across the upper back? and some pics show just one in front? needs one going across the lower back I reckon..

sucks they're kinda misleading with their runtime numbers… "up to 8 hours! (if you use our 3.0Ah Battery!!11)"
    "but oh btw you're only gettin a 2.0Ah battery"🤪

I'm tempted to attempt a DIY something on some existing jacket or jumper… could be really useful, especially for those who suffer from back pain made worse in cold temps. or for women with period pain something like this with a heating element on the lower back would be awesome. 🤔🤪

    • Im sure you can MacGyver something using a few jackets and frankenstein a single jacket full of heating elements and a multi battery power source.

    • I bought one so worked it out then. There’s two, 3 heat level zones. The top front and top rear is the “main” heating zone. The lower front is the “pocket” heating zone.
Hope that helps. Ps it feels a lot better than it looks.

      • If people want to see the heat zones go to the ~9:00min mark of the Project Farm video

Has 'Skin only' icon on the left and in the text says it includes the charger & power source which part no. says is just a charger. It doesn't mention a battery.

The Sydney Tools one does say there's a battery included and I just bought a grey one delivered free to Tassie (but now says In Store only for all 3 colours so I was lucky to get that). Just hope the size is right.

When adding to the cart it also puts a battery in the cart for free

    • Any comments on the sizing? I just measured my chest at 110cm which puts me at the upper end of large whereas I'm normall a medium at most for shirts and my bisley jumper is a small. I don't want it too big as I expect I'll wear a jacket or jumper over it on occassion.

  • +3

I have this, whilst it's good I wouldn't buy it again. I'd prefer to get either the hoody or soft vest. I find you can't later up under it, as it needs to be closer to your skin. So I can't wear a hoody or anything under it. I think it would be better to have the heated hoody then throw on a soft shell or something over the top.

    • The other thing I think is not so good is the back element is up the top. It'd be much more use down on your lower back.

    • I have had a couple of the hoodies and that is exactly how I used to use it. I bought a close fit one size down then would wear it under a Milwaukee non heated jacket. Worked a treat.

Sydney tools has more stock available
    Got one from them

    • Sydney tools website says in store only…

What link do you have to order online?

      • some sizes (e.g. Black L) available for delivery

    • I got one as well. Call ahead to make sure they have what you are after!

  • Any issues taking the batteries on planes?

    • I have taken powerbanks on planes. Should be no problem there.

    • I imagine you might have a few issues if you wore this through the scanner at security (obviously you wouldn’t though)

      • They would make you take it off. I was wearing a cloth vest and they made me take it off and was asked to place it on a tray so it can get xray'd

    • I believe the limit for lithium batteries on planes in Aus is 160wh. This battery is rated at 24wh but in reality is 21.6wh.

  • Any air con version of this?

  • uhhhh black large size was out of stock, went over to sydney tools, plenty of stock with c&c.

  • Thanks for the heads up on Sydney Tools. Bagged a grey XL. Sweet.

    • Bugger, everytime I checked, XL was in store only, on all 3 colours

  • Thanks! Got a grey 2xl from Sydney tools

  • All colours S-L OOS.

  • Thanks OP! Got one from Sydney Tools Gregory Hills. Plenty of stock at the time.

  • -5

    Skin only no battery

  • Thanks OP!

  • What do you guys think of using this for motorcycling in winter?

    • +1

      I think it'll be better than wearing a singlet…

Stick your riding jacket over the top and enjoy two wheels. Definitely cheaper alternative than a dedicated heated jacket…

      • Yes, I was thinking the same. The heated vests have the same filament but a really chunky battery that takes up an entire pocket.

I may buy this now and store it for next winter.

    • as long as you don't fall off, you will be fine.

      • Or have a thinner armoured short with pads underneath like I do…

  • Just so everyone is aware, sizes in these are massive… I have a couple and they are great but pretty much grab a size smaller than normal and it will still be fairly roomy

    • The sleeves seemed ridiculously long to me. Manageable enough with the Velcro cuffs but makes it a bit baggy in that regard.

    • Can confirm! I'm normally a L-XL for jackets, the M in these fits nicely.

    • Damn. I'm normally an XL and ordered an XL.
According to the Milwaukee size guide, I have 112cm chear, so XL is the fit….or should I have got the Large???

      • I'm 195cm / 100kg, xl is too big for me.

        • +1

          Damn, 174/84, ordered the XL.

          Oh what

  • Anyone have comments on how either shop are with floods of orders and cancellations? Are they like Bunnings where they don't really count and reserve as orders are made?

  • If anyone bought a medium and wants to upsize/swap to a large, DM me!

    • I am in the same boat, if anyone requires a large (Grey) and purchased a medium (Grey / Black preferred) that is too small, will happily swap (Adelaide Based)!

    • What size are you normally. Appart these are a large for, according to comment above?

      • I’m usually a large

        • Mate, so you're saying to size up or just buy your normal size?

  • All OOS in NSW.

  • free shipping but instory only ….WT…..

  • Got mine today yippee until I opened it and found it was repacked like a return, battery was missing and it was an XL instead of the L I ordered.;(
Trying to get TotalFools to send a battery and give me some compensatory credit as I can just about live with the XL and there is no L stock anywhere.

    • That's pretty poor. Mine should be arriving tomorrow, hopefully it's all correct.

Hope you get it sorted. In the past I have found them to be reasonably ok to deal with.

      • They're sending a battery out and have credited $10 back so not too bad so far, I'm not hopeful of getting a size L but they are supposedly trying to find one, So yeah, I think they've responded better than Sydney Tools would have!

        • +1

Good to hear. Shame about the wrong sizing, hopefully they source one for you.

I have shopped a lot with both of them over the last decade and they both have their faults, but overall, I think Total Tools is a better experience
