  • Targeted I guess.

    • Unsure, the code is unique, but doesn’t mention targeted.

      • +2

Unique and single use means its targeted.

        • +1

          Ah, makes sense. Bugger.

  • +2

Didn't receive all these promo lately for some reason.

    • +1

I didnt get this perks offer. I was not going to use it so i was going to post it here. Checked my email. Nothing.

  • How do you get the code? Subscriber?

    • I’ve signed up to Perks.

I also recently completed their survey, so unsure if that had something to do with it

  • +6

Received email from Google that there will be a black Friday deal pixel 7 pro from 21 November. Not sure how much the discount would be but in the US, it's usd150 off.

  • -3

This phone (pro) has been meh so far. Lags and gets hot even when just browsing and with no evident processes in the background.
Battery charging is also slow as hell.

    • Yipes… thats no good.

Hope its just a software fix away and nothing structural or obvious physical design flaw.

    • +1

Wouldn't have expected any less from a Pixel phone. Pixel 6 Pro I had for a few months was garbage too.

    • +1

But… but…. the pixel fanboys say this is finally it

      • Was considering one, was expecting a decent boost in specs, but the 7 is just as disappointing spec wise as the 6. doesn't make a lot of sense given price.

        • +3

Given the price that's significantly lower than all other flagships whilst maintaining similar if not better specs?

          • -8

            @JandersC:

whilst maintaining similar if not better specs?

            Bruh, its not even close

          • @JandersC: no way is this flagship spec, it is high midrange which is the issue. For the spec it needs to be cheaper.

            • @gromit: It's cameras literally outperform every other main flagship? What spec the slightly lower CPU performance that matters how?

              • @JandersC: I guess different focus, i could not give a rats arse about a better camera. It is literally the least important spec item to me.

          • @JandersC: I got mine under $600 new, Samsung ultra would of been double.

            I'm not complaining.

    • +4

You might have a dud, could be worth asking Google for a replacement. Seems like some of them ship with some kind of issue that causes the lag and overheating.

Mine has been mostly flawless besides a bug or two. My first pixel phone.

      • -5

        You might have a dud

How many times have people answered that when someone complaining about pixel problems lol

        • +1

They definitely have a QC problem. A certain percentage seem to have major issues out of the box. I wouldn't be buying one second hand .

          • -3

@nigel deborah: Year after year after year fanboys be acting like this the year lol
I just wish Google made decent phones but Pixels isn't it, they need a major revamp. They need to go back to their roots

    • +3

Google's probably tracking your every twitch and eye movement and running an algorithm in the background to target you with adds..

    • +5

I'm new to the Pixel phones, just switched from Samsung, I've not noticed overheating. I'm using right now as a data hotspot, with bluetooth on, data on, browsing website and the temperature is reporting 32c. Which seems very good to me. Maybe yours has a fault?

      • May well be. It's quite evident, especially when I am relying on 5G data rather than wifi.

        • I'm connected via 4G right now, when I drive home from work I will pass by a 5G spot, I'll pull over, download something, and report back with the temperature.

        • Hey I am at 5G right now, streaming a 4K 60fps YouTube video, while recording my screen, turned hotspot on, and phone is reporting that temperatures are at 37C.

          • +1

@FabMan: Thanks mate for testing this out. I will test more over the next few weeks and see how it goes.

          • +1

@FabMan: Just looping back. It looks like part of the problem is the case (I have a clear flexible TPU case) and have swapped out for a carbon fibre case. Temperature now more nominally between 25-32'C.

The only thing still annoying is that after a bit of gaming the phone reaches 40'C (measured using cpu-z) but it feels lot hotter as it kinda burns the hand. I did a test on my old phone at 40'C for good measure and it was nothing like this. Cases were removed in both tests. I will probably contact google support to see what can be done about this. Do you recommend any apps for accurate temperature measurements?

            • @CptnObvious: Can you link your new case please? I might swap mine for it. Do you like the new case too?

I use an app called battery temperature, how accurate it is, I don't know. I got mine up to 41 twice and it warned me. I could feel the heat when it got to that. That was when wirelessly charging and hotspot on. Thing is, most times it doesn't do that, just those two times.

      • Maybe yours has a fault?

Yeah every product will have a percentage faults and the internet is made up of mostly the small percentage of people that got the dud and then complained loudly about it. The lesson here is to ignore internet reviews and make sure you have a good warranty/after-sales service. I've had multiple experiences with Samsung's support and it's made me never to want to buy their products again.

    • Not suprise. If the Pixel 6 was an indicator of QA. Google is not a hardware company as their first priority. Should have gone with Samsung.

      • Samsung is not a software company as their first priority. This has resulted in many software-realted issues - most recently for me, Galaxy S22 throttling far too early making it difficult to charge in the Australian summer. (With no way to turn it off).

Samsung make great hardware, but the hardware is meaningless if it doesn't work properly in software. Even then, I've had more hardware issues with Samsung than Google, but maybe I've gotten lucky over the years.

  • +2

Weird, didn't get this one, but I got the $10 perk from earlier in the week.

    • +1

Yeah same. Was going to post it here but alas didnt receive one.

  • +3

Why does 256gb only come in the most boring color here

    • -1

Because, they do not want people to buy 256GB. They will buy 128gb and running out of space in the future and will buy another phone.

      • +1

Bad take, if there was something funky going on it'd be to incentivise Google 1 memberships. You don't need to buy a new phone when you run out of storage, it's not a consumable

      • -1

How difficult is it to dump your data to your computer and archive the images and video etc. that are taking up the space?

        • +1

Impossible if you don't have a computer. Extremely frustrating if your computer has limited space too.
And pointless if you only ever look at photos and videos on your phone.

          • -1

@w3av3r: You don't have or have access to a computer and a drive to archive to?

That's cool, but space on your phone is the least of your problems.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: I'm not one of them, but I'm aware some people only use their smartphone with no other devices. Not sure what the "least of your problems" comment is supposed to mean…

          • @w3av3r: Thumbdrive with USB C, dump photos over the USB port. Done.

            Easy.

  • Bought thanks, has to be better than black shark 4

    • +4

I had the black shark 4. It was nice phone but when mine french kissed the sidewalk. It went to silicone heaven.

      • Silicon heaven is very different than silicone heaven. Silicone heaven is more… voluptuous.

        • Typo. Auto correct.

  • usually I would get all the perk emails but somehow not this one. Weird

  • Anyone know if you could take advantage of the trade in option and still stack this code?

    • Should be able to, but there's no trade in bonus right now and the trade values otherwise are criminal.

  • -1

Can a jb hifi rep give me a code for the pixel 7 pro please

    Tia

  • Anyone have a free code for Pixel 7 Pro?

    • Have mine:

      92BMWEDMMDBLZW

If it doesn't work, someone beat you to it :)

  • How does pixel 7 pro compare to s22?

    • +1

I used 7 Pro for a few weeks, then moved to S22+ and no going back. S22 has battery issues, but S22+ IMO is better than 7Pro in day to day use.

      • I used s21 before it is pretty good, will sure wait s22 deals.
        Thanks mate

      • The battery is meant to get better the longer you use the Pixels cause it learns your behaviour and tailors battery usage (allegedly).

    • I prefer my Pixel 7 Pro compared to my S22U Ultra .. selling the S22 Ultra this weekend.

  • Would really much appreciate if anyone that is not using their code for Pixel 7 Pro, please send this through to me
    Thanks
    Tim

  • Dang, wish there was a JB HiFi Telstra deal right about now.

    • There is one. 1000$ off for 24 month $69 pm plan

  • Hmm…..Will this stack if you negotiate a cheaper price instore?

  • Personally I love my pro 7 so far. I got 10% off and a $300 voucher so picked up the buds pro. I have only found 1 bug so far and have had to security updates already. I might be biased as this is my 3rd pixel but I did not get the 6 after reviews. Overall for me 7 pro worth the price compared to other flagships. Then again I love the google pixel features of the software and the camera.
