Also free on Google Play for Android users: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.mobi….

    • Added, Thank you.

On the Android one, you'll still need to buy each of the games.

      • +1

The games (in app purchases) are not free for Android. You still get a "Buy" button next to each game (all games) and they are $1 each (or $10 for the lot). This is different to the IOS version where the Buy button is replaced with a button that directly downloads the game.

Edit: Only "Missile Command" comes free with the app.

        • My bad guys, I didn't realise the games were in-app purchases!

Free game for iOS only. Please read their FB page.

Why I have to use IAP to buy games?

    • I'm not sure what your asking ? Did you read the instructions

    • -1

Because that's how it works, you download the app (which is like a central library for games) then you buy individual games via IAP, or the whole game pack, which is FREE today. I don't understand your confusion either, would you prefer to have to download 100 different apps, one for each game?

      • How do you download the whole game pack?

        • See my note below, you don't need to download it, all the games are pre-unlocked in this version of the app. (available today only, then it will revert to the IAP version of the app)

        • +2

You still need to download each game individually inside the app though.

        • +1

Yeah, that's right, but they average 1mb each so it takes seconds, unless you're on DoDo or some shitty network ;)

        • +4

It's just a hassle to click on 100 games separately. I wish there was an option to download them all in one go.

        • +1

Silly question do I have to download them all now for them to remain free or can I do it later

        • You do, and if correct for 1 day only there may be of 4 hours left.

  • I wonder if using Titanium on Android will keep them between restores…?

  • Wicked! Iphoned and Androided.

    Cheers!

This offer is just for one day only, 27 June (US time).
Does it mean it will end at roughly 12.00 noon today?
What is time difference between AU and US?

    Edit:
When I tried to install this app..
The emulator itself (this app) is free + one free game (Missile Command)
But the rest of games are not free.
    Expired?

    • Hope this isn't true.

    • yeah i got the same issue too… not so great atm.. and it keeps crashing…

Same, still attempting to charge me for the 100 game pack too, on Google Play.

According to their FB page, only posted 3 hours ago so am guessing it should still be current … or maybe not enabled yet.

      http://www.facebook.com/AtarisGreatestHits

      • EDIT

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS: If you are not seeing the games for free, you need to remove and re-install the app (don't just remove it from your device, remove it from your computer too), then re-install and start it up, you should see a pop-up saying all games are free until you remove the app, as far as I can see you don't even need to "purchase" them, so I suspect this is a special copy of the app which has all the games unlocked already (which explains why you will lose them if you remove the app, since if you have to re-install it again you will get a copy of the app which needs you to unlock the games via IAP).

        Make sense?

        • Read the comments on FB, not for Android.

Re a comment on their Facebook page -
"Unfortunately this is an offer for iOS only"

        Please update title.

I wish I could neg more than once for this comment.

        • +1

          you can have mine

  • Cheer mate…

  • Free stuff is good :)

  • Look at the ratings for the game.

    • +2

That's based on the standard version offering one game and the rest you ahve to pay for, even though it's called "Greatest Games".

The OP's offer is legit, I just downloaded it and sure enough all the games are free to play.

(lunar lander and asteriods have already gotten a good workout ;))

Ouch… (from a sad android user)
      Thanks btw.. :)

Atari's Greatest Hits yet no PacMan? No RiverRaid? No Space Invaders?

This makes UFO a very sad panda :(.

    • +11

Think you'll find PacMan is Namco, RiverRaid is Activision and Sapce invaders is Taito, owned by other brand names.

    • I feel your pain, there is no Megamania, in my mind the best Atari game. Countless hours wasted on this.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLXIk8n45AE

    • Darn was hoping for some moon patrol turns out its not atari :(
Actually on double checking seems it was licensed to Atari but I can't find it in their greatest hits Double sad face :( :(

      • No Solaris or Superman or Ram It either - have been wracking my brains for the names of my favourites but they are just not there.

  • +1

Do you have to download each game on its own, or can you go somewhere to download the entire pack at once?

  • +1

I bought this for my iCade :)

Happy Birthday, Atari! 40 years is a damn millennium for an IT company.

    • Atari died a long time ago. In 1984. They were split up and parts were sold to Time Warner, Midway, JTS, and others.

The current incarnation is just Infogrames (GT Interactive). They bought the rights to the Atari name and back catalogue, then rebranded themselves in 2003.

The Atari brand is over 40 years old, but the company itself hasn't really existed for a long time in any real sense.

Downloading now at HJ free 30 min wifi. Thanks OP.

    • +2

hope you're having your $2 burger whilst there !

  • +2

I dunno what it is but the RRP was 10.99 so I'm gonna get it.

    • same here. i'm not even gonna play it, but hey, $10.99 is a lot of savings from an app
i'm wondering if deleting the app will result in the games becoming "unfree" later on?

      • +1

Yes, I believe it is only the current iOS app v1.5.2, therefore if you delete or update it in the future you will revert to the IAP version.

        If I understand it correctly

        • so many catches for a poorly rated app. i don't intend to play it anyway, so i won't bother. thanks for breaking it down for me

      • As in the description, it will end in you having to pay for these games.

  • Need a magnifying glass to play some of these on an iPod Touch/iPhone…

  • Has anyone bothered to read the reviews ???

90% of the votes are 1 star out of 5….

    • +2

Did anyone bother to read the comments above? The negative reviews are not because of the app functionality but are because those users didn't realise they had to pay extra to get the games.

  • I've clicked thru every single games in the app, none of them ask me to pay, just click and start d/l !!!

My office here got full 5 bar 3G signal with droptus, just keep pressing 1 by 1, took me about 30 mins to get all of them !!! free is always the best !!! THANX!

  • Where's Joust? :(

  • Thanks heaps!

Took me ages with crappy Droptus… but finally got there… need to get home to get is all on my iPad now!!!!!

    HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY ATARI!!!! ;-)

ATAR?!? Please don't remind me of my score!

  • I love Lunar Lander :) a classic!

  • +1

I'm sick of getting excited when I spot a free app on OB till I realize it is only for IOS, not Android. Yet I will resist not to buy you, damn Apple!

  • Has this expired? Have I missed out? Don't get these OzBargain emails until the morning after … :-(
