Good deal. $19 postage to Sydney kills it.

    • +1

Pretty sure BPC tech do free shipping on orders over $100. not many pc stores do that.

Thermalright used to be quite popular, surprised to see it's still around.

    • +2

      That’s correct.
Not to be confused with Thermaltake.

      • +5

        Thermalgive, thermaltake.

      • +1

here i read them as both thermaltake, didn't realise there were 2 different companies lol

  • Thanks! Got one.
    Replacing my Noctua U9S on a 7700X
    U9S idle: 38 deg
U9S 60w load (scrubbing a 1080P video timeline in After Effects): 60-65 deg

Willl post back what the Ass 120 does.

    • +5

You're not satisfied with those temps?

      • +1

I like my PC to be almost silent.
Under more intense loads, you can hear the CPU fan spinning with temps going to ~77 deg (I know this is within acceptable range for the 7700X).

For comparison, the Ryzen 2700 I had previously idled at 32 deg. I never measured the 1080P scrubbing temps or more intense loads, but the fan was never audible.

        • Would be quite nice with the a noctua fan swap then if you want silence.

          • @hjcoggan: That's what I was saying, this cooler performs better because the fans are louder lol, not because the heatsink is any different.

    • U9S reapplied thermal paste
      Idle: 38 deg
60w load (scrubbing a 1080P video timeline in After Effects): 55-65 deg
Valorant (1080P max settings): 60-65 deg

      Ass 120 1x Fan
      Idle: 42 deg
60w load (scrubbing a 1080P video timeline in After Effects): 60-65 deg
Valorant (1080P max settings): 60-70 deg

      Ass 120 2x Fans
      Idle: 32 deg
60w load (scrubbing a 1080P video timeline in After Effects): 50-55 deg
Valorant (1080P max settings): 50-60 deg

It's definitely cooler than the U9S but it's more audible, even at Idle.
You'll need to adjust the fan settings to reduce the fan noise.
With all that said, I'm keeping the U9S.

Thanks for getting back with the comparison

    Good for 13600k?

    • +1

Yep very good, although it gets a bit loud tho

Ak620 is quieter if you are looking for that, although for this price you can’t really complain

      • +1

If im getting this with delivery which equals $71, would it be worth it to get the ak620 for $99 instead or the cooler master 240 aios which are priced around $110?

        • They'll function roughly the same, so make a judgement based off aesthetics.

I would advise against AIO, they aren't worth the effort. You end up paying for the privilege of adding more potential points of failure. An AIO only makes sense if you really like that aesthetic, running a SFF build or cooling a power-hog eg. 12900K or 13900K.

Also something to keep in mind; the white AK620 looks significantly better than the white PA-120.

          • @loodealie: There's also the LGA1700 issue to consider, with the uneven socket pressure leading to ever so slight contact issues.

That said, Thermalright are also one of the popular vendors of the corrective socket plate replacements. http://thermalright.com/product/lga1700-bcf-black/ (Although I think most people end up purchasing the Thermalright or similar brackets from chinese sites)

        • At this price point I wouldn’t recommend AIO

ak620 and this one really down to the look and the slight noise advantage. Very similar performance so really up to you to decide if it’s worth it

    Smaller RGB Version - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09LHLS4V4/?coliid=IA8I5KC6IUR5…
    $57.51

    Good Price OP

    • Totally different cooler, single tower, single fan, 2 fewer heatpipes, and more expensive to boot.

      • Thats why in the post it says smaller RGB one for $57.51, Confirming the deal is a good deal. I even say good price. But i guess people dont read anymore. Get Negged for aggreeing its a good deal on here now.

        • Yes, I read your post. Your suggestion that it is a "version" of the cooler in the OP is totally wrong, which is what I was pointing out. It's a totally different product. You may as well have referred to the Silverstone AR12, which is $19 at the moment (appears to be sold out): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737036

          • @xyron: They are both Thermalright air coolers, they are different versions. I was just pointing out that the smaller RGB versions sells for more, so making this a good deal. Sorry if was not clear.

  • Good brand with quality control. Yet I still use my D15

  • Copped one with a mobo (for a new build) to get that free shipping.

$210 for this cooler + ASRock B550 Pro4 AM4 ATX Motherboard shipped, pretty happy

    • About to do the same combo although with the B550 Riptide. Would argue the extra ports and front I/0 options make it a better board for the "same" price.
