      Has been amended, thanks

This is a great price but really wish they had the earfins for a more secure fit. From everything I have found the Sennheiser momentum 3's are what I want but much more expensive than this

    • Yeah I have no idea what I am going to buy for my next earbuds, I really need the earfins. I might buy another pair of my galaxy buds + incase my current ones break

How does zip work with ebay. Is a seperate sign up and log in required with zip ?

Have these been pressure washed for ear wax?

    • I was surprised when someone bought iems off me from gumtree lol

    • There will be traces of ear wax in these for sure

      • im sure they throw out the used ear buds and send new ones.

I wondered also how they are actually refurbished

          • @koplik8: mine arrived yesterday. Looks brand new to me, no scratches or mark on headphone or charging case.

Worked well, Medium size tip worked best for me. They cut out ambient sound well. Im happy with it.
Used for 2 hours at the gym with volume around 45% and it consumed 20-25% battery.
It cut out the noise from machines, people and the music from the gym.

Also sounded great. I was using the samsung earbuds 1 and the Sony has a bit more lower end bass.
The samsung earbud 1 stays fixed better in my ear. But the sony worked fine, had to adjust a few times to make sure it stays in place. But nothing has beat the earbud 1 in terms of fixability in my ears.

    • You actually can't clean the buds with water, or alcohol or even a moist cloth, only a dry cloth…. Yeah that is as ridiculous as it sounds. Buds that disintegrate due to the common solutions you'd use to clean/sterilise ear buds.

    • Don't think Sony would have Aussie staff doing ear wax cleaning…You'll have to super sanitise these when you get it.

      • Or just… Buy new ones.

    Airpod Pro 2 or these?

    • +2

Airpods Pro 2 for Apple devices, these for Android. Airpods Pro 2 are probably better all around, but XM4s have wind noise reduction (and are half the price). However, someone recently found a fix for the wind noise reduction on the AP2 which makes them the undisputed choice for iPhone users (top comment of this reddit post). For non-apple, XM4s at this price are great value.

      • There are apps to make the experience less terrible for Airpods users on Android (plus Windows, Linux). Not quite the same as iOS, but workable enough to have battery levels and inserted/removed from ear status.

As for LDAC on the Sony's…

That'll get disabled while using multipoint. (As the multipoint firmware is out soon)

You'd lack it anyway on most computers as most OS don't have a LDAC encoder anyway (Totally not a 'use linux' argument), but your phone will just have to pump out audio as AAC while they're both connected. (LDAC gets disabled with multipoint. There are some headsets with same/similar chipset as these that try, but they get starved and stutter unless you lower the rate in developer settings in Android. Sony don't want any of that, so they just disable it outright.)

No LDAC in iOS, obviously. (Not for lack of trying. The encoder has a fairly open license)

    • I think they’re better than ap2, the anc is night and day for me… you don’t get ldac on ios, but they still sound better than ap2 with apples codec

Grrrrr, Paypal needs to have a discount code……

Make sure you have eBay plus when buying these. Mine had an issue that sony did not want a bar of. Lucky for me I had it and the return was super easy circumventing sony reps.

    • Same happened with me, Sony kept on stalling the warranty process, so had enough of them, and got refunded by ebay plus. I didn't even have to return the defective earbuds. Not that they're any use to me, they sound like crap(due to a defect)

  • +2

I bought refurbs of these and the sound quality isn't great, lots of popping in the right earbud. Foam tips don't seem to last long in my ears either - start to tear after a month or so and need to be replaced after two months. Some say the silicone tips from the XM3s are more durable but I haven't bought those yet.

Good price, but think seriously about getting refurbished earphones - I wouldn't do it again.

Unlucky! Haven't had issues with mine. Previously had refurb wh xm2 which were solid as well.

      • The other problem is what happens when they go back, I've had 2x bad xm3 earbuds, 1x xm3 bad headphone, and 1x bad xm4 headphone. the xm4 headphone was bought new, but they wouldn't do an exchange, instead I had to wait nearly a month for them to repair them.
        Sony are terrible with warranties

  • Bought similar not long ago, they don't work well and Sony are horrible to deal with trying to get the money back.

I was very happy with my 3's only issue was take forever to charge. Good for at the gym, as long as not running.
    Powerlifting sessions helped a ton.

    • I think the 4 only has "marginally" better sound.

damn, paid $179.95 2 days ago.

  • Just bought em, thanks for the post.

  • For those asking about the sennheiser MTW3 I've used the MTW 1,2 and 3 and while the sound quality is probably one of the best on any true wireless earbuds, they are always plagued with problems that keep it from being a good user experience IMO. With the 3's I just returned them last week after owning them for 5 months. The main issues were that every time we got a software update while it would improve some things it would break other thing. I would always need to factory restore them usually around once a month to get them working again. What made me return them in the end was that on phone calls the connection via BT just kept dropping out every 20 minutes. In the end I finally went down the airpods pro 2 route because I just needed a hassle free seamless experience.

The Sony xm4 at this price look awesome and I might pick up a pair as a backup ear bud as I use both android and IOS. For those on IOS I think if budget isn't a big problem just go with the airpods pro 2 as the seamless user experience is just worth it, otherwise these Sony's are probably the next best option.

Picked up these, basically came brand new in packaging, no earwax and have had zero problems.

Not good for riding with (wind noise is horrific) go the Sennheiser's if looking to ride with them.

    • Can you turn the wind noise cancelling off to fix the problem? Or is the wind noise more passive sound?

      • Unfortunately, its the nature of the design that lets it down and not the noise cancelling. They stick out too far beyond the ear and receive direct air flow. The Sennheisers were much more streamlined.

        • Awesome thanks

        • I think you're meant to roll the foam tips between your fingers to reduce their size before you pop them into your ears, and once you've found a comfortable fit, hold them in place for 20 seconds or so to allow them to expand. This should provide a good fit and not have them sticking out

Ive got these (but new, not refurbished). Currently sitting on a plane, using them to listen to netflix.

I find that they are excellent

  • +1

i think the zip requirement is holding these offers back

  • WTF, i just "recieved" mine but the headphones are missing, i just got an empty box, i dont think they're even checking their returns/refurb

  • What did Sony say lol?

  • First delivery attempt, no one home. Carded.
Second attempt, I filled out the form saying if no one is home leave it at the door step. Carded again.
Rang up, asked why it was carded. Apparently, Sony needs signature and there's no way around it.
Asked to be delivered tomorrow. (Wife should be home)
They tried to deliver today instead. Carded again.
