  • Did you revoke your own upvote ?

    • Yes, got a bit confused. After posting, I was browsing through recent deals and some were showing 0+/0- votes, so I thought it was some kind of 'unwritten' rules here that we don't upvote our own posts even though that was done by default. Clearly still much to learn around here

  • How's proton guys?

    • +1

Pretty good, been with them for about 5 years after moving away from the services that monetise your personal info. I started with Proton Mail and when they made their VPN signed up to that. It's all been pretty solid, no real down times that I have noticed apart from a few days ago for about 10 minutes outage on their mail.

Good thing is with the unlimited plan you can get SimpleLogin for free (I was a paid customer, but Proton bought the company), so you can have a unique email for every service you sign up to, with the benefit of being able to send mail from your alias and never have to give out your personal email.

  • Not really that cheap.

    • Everything is more expensive in Switzerland

      • Pay for the security and privacy I guess. Even though there is nothing proven as law enforcement can still get logs. Apparently.

        • Yeah even though I have proton mail I don’t believe those big statements about their vpn’s privacy

  • 6 free months free doesn't show up in plans, does it have to be with a new account? Still shows as 4.99 euro/month for 24 month plan after I sign in. Or does it just automatically apply?

    • Yeah I couldn't do it with my old account that already had a paid subscription. With a new account, got the offer and it went through fine.
