8gb RAM and only a 3050 for $1350 seems pretty average unfortunately OP. Wouldn't say it's a bargain at all.

I would say below average considering we are on 'black friday deals week'

    Whats the full specs?

  • The CPU looks great but that GPU is very subpar in performance. Long term wise that will creat bottleneck in performances. Price wise the Kraken NUC was far superior in pretty much everything except for the CPU department.

Black friday needs some 3060 lappys around the 1100-1400 dollar mark

    • ebay has this one with 3060 for 13xx

      • Picked this deal up and havent had a chance to play with it much yet but so far its very clean looking and a solid laptop for the price.

    • We've already had at least two, pre black Friday.

      This 3050 "deal" sucks, Centrecom.

What do we think of this? Reviews online seem decent, is there anything I'm missing?

      • Sorry didnt see this until now, thats a good deal for a laptop with a 3070, nothing you are missing. 17.3-inch is not my cup of tea, I would go the 15.6-inch also a good price https://www.harveynorman.com.au/infinity-w5-5r9r7n-15-6-inch…

        • That's ok, thanks for replying!

I know Harvey Norman are meant to start their Black Friday sales tomorrow (Monday) and I've been told they will be definitely having some impact on gaming laptops.

Is it likely there'll be a better deal with the sales coming up through Harvey Norman (I have to buy from them)? This is the first time I've ever looked at/entered the gaming laptop market, and it's frustrating cause I need to purchase one ideally by Friday at the latest, so I'm trying to cram a lot of research in very quick haha

          • @scottfm2020: Highly likely there will be a better deal this coming week even from Harvey. It would be worthwhile keeping an eye out for any laptop from the big brands that is a good price and then seeing if Harvey stock it so you can do a price match.

            • @lemotank: Do you rate Infinity?

From the reviews I've seen online, it's mainly positive/staisfied, but there's not a lot of reviews/coverage on the brand, which has me a bit iffy on it.

Also, looking at https://www.harveynorman.com.au/games-hub/pc-gaming/gaming-l… , is there anything there you think is a very good model/brand? I'm assuming when the prices get dropped I'll need to be quick, I'm not sure 100% what I'm hoping for goes on sale (assuming they just price drop existing, not sure if they're adding any new ones)

              • @scottfm2020: When spending a significant amount of money its always a good to weigh up your options, Infinity is a good Australian brand, if you wanted to go with a global brand and 17" is what you are after then consider the Asus TUF https://www.harveynorman.com.au/asus-tuf-gaming-a17-17-3-inc… the Infinity is definitely better value for money with a 1TB SSD and QHD screen, if I was stuck with Harvey then I would pickup the Infinity, keep an eye on it and see if it comes down further in price this week.

                • @lemotank: Thanks again for the response!

I'm not against a 15", most people seem to say that 17" on laptop isn't exactly good for gaming, which makes sense if you're that close and it's too wide, and you'd get better performance out of a smaller screen, seems to me that 15" is the general consensus on the way to go?

I don't mind even spending a bit more, as I'm hearing the sales at Harvey will be pretty good this week, but it's not bringing in any new models, only what's listed online atm (but prices will drop considerably).

I've seen a few people say the ASUS TUF aren't the best build quality, what are your thoughts on that? The higher end models seem to review alright.

Are any of the other products/series they have listed worth it? I'd be willing to spend closer to 3k (once on sale) if it's going to be considerably better.

                  • @scottfm2020: 17" is just too chunky, on the rare occasion I take my gaming laptop out I am thankful its only 15", and because I use it to just chill on the couch with 15" is also fine, if I was replacing my main desktop with a laptop then I might consider a 17".

I don't think spending more is going to get you anything better, not from what they sell anyway. Everything else they have seems over priced for the specs.

IMO all of the brands are pretty much the same as one another you will find people that have had good experiences and bad with all of them, that's why I just find the best bang for my money and go with that model.
