You are right about that. It also overheats which makes the came unusable.
Yeah, I'd bite at $100, MAYBE $150 on the high end. Basically not worth it if you actually intend to use it for "action" stuff.
Nah man. $100 will get you that awful JB Hi-fi exclusive Zero-X brand. This is leagues better.
It overheats, requires expensive water proof casing, it isn't built to help prevent sand/dirt from getting into things and much more issues.
I own two and wouldn't buy again for more than $100-150.
Just because other "worse" brands cost that much, doesn't mean they're worth their price either.
And no free magnetic case are offered. U have to buy separately for 29$. Without it this cam is almost unusuable. U will feel uncomfortable to use it
It says in the link you can get a free magnetic case that you just have to add to cart.
I contacted the dji customer care. They said the free offer finished in april 2022. No more free. They wanted to sell me the case for 29$
You probably buy it with Amazon? Which seems to be the only retailer not giving out the free case.
Shops like Teds, digiDirect and JB Hifi still offers the free case.

FWIW, I tested this unit at 4k30fps with high temp setting, stabilisation and with the magnetic case. It doesn't overheat, records until the battery runs out at about 92 mins (using the dual screen battery pack). Based on youtube at 4k60 fps goes for 30 mins and guessing at 4k120fps it will probably go for 10 mins. Mindful that these are usually tested in a room ie. not much wind around or underwater. So the overheat is only really an issue if you have specific needs that won't work with these results. Otherwise its a really good value action cam.
Can you actually set High on temperature?

I think you can only set it if the magnetic case is attached. Must be a sensor inside that detects the magnet or something.
He may not have checked for it. Mine has it. I don’t even need to use the case to access this setting. Though I think the case is a hack that would enable this setting in region where this manual setting is inaccessible to the user.
Not sure whether anyone else can access this setting. I bought mine from Amazon AU.
That's considerably better than my Go Pro 10 Black. It over heats all the time and now that spring/summer coming, I'll probably only get 20-30 mins out of it.
I'm pretty pissed off right now. Wanted the power combo, bought from DJI themselves for 199. They couldn't fulfill the order and pushed me to upgrade to the dual screen that I don't need for an extra 100.
Finally buckled and paid the extra because I do want the camera and now third parties are selling the power combo again.

Because I want it for "action" stuff. Mounting on motorbikes, fpv drones and water skiing.
Idontt really need it for selfie stuff and even if I did the field of view is so big you don't really need a screen to frame the shot.

With the power pack, do you know if the typical use is just to charge it up a bit when you get the chance, as i assume you wouldn’t mount it during action and definitely not with water? It’sa bit of a bizarre design compared to the gopro style we’re all used to.

I went for delivery as its too far to the nearest store, which supposedly has stock. Hopefully it will be sent out soon. I’ll let you know if i get emailed soon.

@Dan83: I think the cases are what the delay is for. Would appear to be on backorder for fulfillment from the supplier due in Feb 2023.
Interesting, as apparently the free magnetic case is supposed to help reduce temperatures and allow for longer *recording times without overheating.
I've taken to ordering the smallrig cold shoe case from Amazon to hopefully help with this.

I just ordered mine, and the expected delivery date is a long time away. Maybe look for something else if you're going on a holiday this summer.

I didn't proceed when I saw the delivery date. The weird thing is, I saw it marked as in stock at my local store but it is not available for click and collect on the website. I might head down to the store to try my luck later today.
I don't know if the delivery dates are better (I hope so), but Harvey Norman have the dual screen for the same price. I just ordered. Comes with the case too, unlike Amazon.

I saw the camera in store but they are out of stock of the magnetic case. The staff refused to do a preorder and basically told me to forgo the free case if I want to buy the camera today. So I came home empty-handed. Really annoyed with JB Hifi now. Surely this is false advertising if so many JB stores are out of stock of the free case, I mean like why do they even bother running the promotion at all?!
Does anyone know of a good selfie stick for the DJI Action 2?
The official DJI one has a magnetic remote and looks good, however it sells on Amazon for roughtly $90… Some GoPro sticks are on sale on Amazon, but you'll need the magnetic mount with an action cam fitting to use it.
The free Magnetic Protective Case is showing out of stock in most JB Hifi outlets that's why the estimated delivery can go Jan or Feb 2023. I've just got a Dual Screen one at $299 in-store and the staff agreed to place a preorder for the protective case so I'll be notified to pick it up later whenever it's restocked. Also got SanDisk Extreme PLUS microSDXC 128GB for half price $24.50. Not a bad deal if you have Perks Vouchers or CommBank cashback rewards.
hey mate thanks for sharing your experience with the case. I got the same deal, too - come back and pick up the case later when restocked. Do you think they will actually call you, or do we just keep an eye on the website ourselves and keep checking if it becomes available in-store?
The staff took my phone number and told me they'll send me a text when it's restocked. But I guess the ETA should be early Jan just like those online orders.
Does anyone know of a good waterproof case for the camera with the display module in place? The official one seems steep, so any other cheaper alternatives?

only the camera unit is waterproof, but you can't replace the battery quickly.
the bottom moduel has its port open all the time, it's asking for sand to get in there.
accessories are not cheap, the cages which allow you plugs into the headunit cost like 60$+, water proof casing cost like 70$+.
but it does has its uses, it is extra small compare to other camera. that's it……..
