Hate that I paid ~450 for a 5600x in Jan just a couple months before price drops and the 5600/5700 dropped. zzz. Got impatient. (from a 2600)

  • Any reason why these aren't listed to work with B550m motherboards?

    • It was a quick copy/paste. Added the B550s to the list.

    • Works perfectly fine with B550 MBs. 5700x was officially released this year, but B550 boards were released a couple of years ago (when this chip was not even on any roadmaps). So if you are looking at motherboard product pages you may not see it there unless you look up CPU support lists etc..

    5900x deals can't be far away now…

    • They were pretty heavily discounted prior to the 7900x/7950x launch, so I doubt there's much inventory left. The 5600/5600x, 5700x and 5800x3d are targeting budget gaming so they'll be permitted to exist alongside Zen 4, but selling cheap 5900x/5950x CPUs would hurt AMD's margins too much.

I guess we'll see, I've pulled the trigger on the 5800x3D in case, but can return/sell it easily after if the 5900x does hit that $500 mark too.

Do we think the 5600x will be dropped sub 200 or close to it?

      Absolutely

Black Friday or in the new year? I just started looking at upgrading my PC (i5 5th gen) 2 weeks ago so haven't been following the price drops. Thanks!

5600 (non x) which is the exact same CPU as the 5600X but a lower binned chip therefore clocked 200Mhz slower has been selling for $199 for a few weeks now. If you want to save a little bit of money you can get that, I’m sure you won’t notice any difference with everyday workloads or gaming.

It did reach $219 a couple of weeks ago, I'd say its pretty possible to go $199 at BF.

    • $199 at Amazon now

edit: whoopse thats the 5600 non x

  • Reckon black friday deals will beat this? I missed out of $270pp deal previously.

    • Doubt it unless Amazon match it and you use discounted gift cards.
