Did not know these existed….. or that I needed one so badly

  • +6

I'm the first person to get stuff with apps on phones, i've got tons of things I can control through my phone.

But why for an airfryer? I dont get it.

    • Recipes. But I guess I'm just not sure how complicated air fryer recipes get.

      • +8

Recipes for an air fryer is silly because it only has one way to cook something, the only thing that can change is temperature and time.

    • +12

Put your underpants in here before a shower.
When you're almost finished with the shower shout at alexa to toast your jocks.
      ???
      Profit.

    • Will be helpful to those with babies I imagine. Baby crying and having to sooth on couch / another room when food is finished cooking. Use the app to put it on warm.

      • +4

Or put the baby in the airfryer to shut it up.

        • lmao

    • OnlyFryHub

    • +1

It's a gimmick that will never be used.

I have an old nespresso machine that let's you start it via the app through Bluetooth. Pointless really since you have to go to the machine anyway to load the pod and put your mug under it. Much quicker to press the button now that you're there, instead of pulling out your phone and finding the app

      • Still cheaper/same price than the non wifi version though. There are other uses for the wifi version similar to wifi sous vide machines.
Not a must, but if it’s there at the same price, why not?

        • Yeah I'm not arguing about the price. I'd get it too if this was cheaper. Just saying the wifi feature itself is a gimmick that won't be used once the novelty wears off.

    • You can control time and temperature from your phone. Probably so you wont need to stand there at the air fryer when its cooking.

      • +3

Still seems pointless. Unless you can get your phone to shake your chips or turn your food.

      • I assume you are joking right?

You set the time when you put the food in.

    • +2

What if you have a heavy night on the grog, order pizza but can't finish it all. Just remember to put the pizza in the air fryer and, in the morning when you need replenishment, you put the air fryer on whilst still in bed before you shower - hot breakfast ready for when you get out…

      • +1

Is this a Michael Scott reference? lol

      • I like the thinking there

    • Just received it and installed the app. Keep warm function sounds useful

  • +1

    so

    HD9280/90 = wifi model
    HD9280/91 = non-wifi model

    • +1

      HD9270/91= non wifi
HD9280/91 is still wifi but overseas market

  • +2

    Shame it's not XXL wifi

    • +2

that would be the deal of the year

    • I read yours as xxl wife and whattt

    • Ah, thanks. I was almost tempted to grab this, but I forgot that XL means 'too small' in Phillips language. XXL is definitely the go with Phillips airfryers.

  • +1

Maybe the wifi is useful, I’ve found that the touch panels on Phillips air fryers break fairly easily after continuous usage.
Then again who knows if the wifi is as reliable

    • Never had this issue and used my old one nearly every day

  • how's warranty with amazon compared to big w?

    • I've never experienced better personally!

      • so amazon warranty is much superior compared to big w?

        • +6

You can return it successfully by putting the reason like, todays weather is not great

          • @TTdina: Do you pay postage for returns or it's covered by Amazon. Neve had to return anything back to Amazon before.

            • +1

@hotchoc: if the item is fulfilled by amazon, return shipping is covered by them

        • Can confirm, if fulfilled by Amazon the returns process is very smooth and easy. Amazon covers the return postage cost. Very customer friendly.

    • Curious to know as well should I just price match with Jb Hi Fi or buy from Amazon

      • +1

I just price matched at JB & used $10 coupon

      • +1

        Amazon easier returns

        • Went with JB at the end. I even got the text saying it's ready for collection now XD

  • How do these compare to say a Mistral Digital 10L Air Fryer for $50-$100?

    • -1

      Like Porsche vs Corolla

      • +2

So the cheap one will run forever and the expensive one will break down after a few years and will be too costly to maintain?

      • Which one breakdown more often?

    • +1

It's a worthwhile upgrade. I upgraded from the similar sized Kmart model and this cooks better and has a better quality Teflon basket. I paid about $220 from Big W a few months back so this price is outstanding.

  • +1

What's the basket made of in this thing, teflon? 'ceramic'?

  • this or the non-wifi version. decisions…………….

  • +2

I would like to browse Ozbargain on my airfryer.

  • +1

Just curious, why you need wifi in an air fryer?
to control the temp and time or set scheduled start?

    • +1

Everything has wifi these days, philips thought they're falling behind the game.. so now we have wirefryer

  • Good price for a digital model. The analog models normally around this price makes you feel like a pleb.

  • Delivery 1-2 months :(

    • Have had a few items from Amazon mention that most came in 2 weeks or so. But not always lol.

    • price match if you can click and collect :)

  • Just received my instant vortex :/

Now I'm not sure which to get.

Coating on instant vortex already has a chip in it… didn't even use anything abrasive.

  • +1

Got this price matched online via JB Hi Fi chat. You can also use the $10off perks voucher

    • Hey mate, can you pm me your receipt? I want to try price matching if possible :(

      • Can you pm me too? OOS atm

  • OOS

  • +1

Just got off chat with JB, they wouldn’t price match any longer as it’s unavailable. I even had the receipt from Amazon for delivery in a month, but they wouldn’t match it

    • Couldn't you price match via the Big W advertised price?

      • +1

They said no to that one as it’s the technically a different model

  • Hi guys, forget it. Out of Stock

  • Why is everyone price matching? For the $10? If it is, couldn't you spend it on something else in JB?

    • So they collect now shipping times across the country are whack at the moment

  • +1

lol muppets in JB offered $360 for me. Told them to get f**d in a nice way

  • Aren't these small? Alot mentioned really needing XXL

    • I have been using a smaller no-brand one for a
few years, mainly to heat up leftovers for the kids.
I saw this in store yesterday, happy with this size and the bench space
