Fantastic gaming laptop for a good price, not the cheapest we have seen it but still awesome value. This laptop runs stupid hot and the fans are loud unless you run the fan curve in quiet mode. Get yourself a cooling pad to keep it on for some additional cooling and so you don't cook your lap if you are a couch gamer.

I believe the sRGB is ~62%, Response time 23-34ms

Computer Alliance also have it at the same price https://www.computeralliance.com.au/gigabyte-g5-kd-52au123so…

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

  • Is that P supposed to signify something? Or just a typo?

    • Its the laptop/mobile variant of the 3060

    • +4

The other user is completely wrong, P is short for ‘max-p’ is laptop manufacturers trying to distinguish their cards from the ‘max-q’ term that Nvidia created for low powered laptop gpus. But unlike max q, max p is not an official definition from Nvidia.

That’s on top of gigabyte false claiming their gpus are max-p when it is not - the 3060p in this listing is just mwave copying the marketing material from gigabyte before they updated the text on their website- and they claimed its max-p for a good several months (max wattage for 2021 3060 mobile was 130w while this is 105w)

No gigabyte laptops have full powered gpus-certainly not this one where its an 4 year old clevo chasis, even gigabytes own aorus range was only capable of 130w on 3080tis and most skus also don’t have mux switch. 2022 skus of other brands 3060 machines have 140w combined wattage, and this doesnt speak highly of gigabyte at all.

  • fantastic lol

  • looks to be 105w for the gpu. How much is that going to throttle things?

  • +2

105w and mux switch less, all in a shoddy 2019 clevo chasis.

Either grab the kraken for 200$ more or wait for another nitro 5 3060 sale for $200 less. This is the awkward price where it’s just not worth it no matter how you look at it.

    • Sounds like a very low end screen too.

      • Yeah low end screen is sorta very much expected at this price (except that one time kraken deal). But the machine just isn’t deserving of the price-it belongs with the nitro 5s and msi gf/gls for having obsolete cooling that wasnt updated in years.

  • Which kraken will you recommend?
