    • Sucks that's not a Cashback per transaction

      • It’s time you took advantage of the referral bonus.

        • Don’t you need to have a mobile number set with your account?
I don’t have a legion of phone numbers unfortunately.

  • any good for external ssd?

    • I have 240GB one that is used as a boot drive for an old computer. Boot time is pretty good. However from what I hear, write speeds degrade very quickly.

    Also available is 1 TB @ $79

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740535

Slightly better value ($79 / TB instead of $84.5 / TB)

    • +4

better value only if you don't want 2tb and don't want to use extra ports.

    • +4

      for a HDD, sure.

          Keep dreaming champ

@essent1al: its ashame I'm not trolling to begin with.

                • +4

@kungfuman: Okay then, how is waiting 5 years a valid strategy lol. Use your brain mate.

                  • -8

@essent1al: yes and in 5 years I will be planting the price in your face.

                    • @kungfuman: "just wait 5 years to buy storage for your pc"

                      Clown

        • Understood. For a defective SSD, sure.

        • -1

          You're definitely in la-la land.

  • +2

Dang, BX. Still not bad price.

    • Is BX bad? Unless you're doling sustained reading and writing, how much difference is there with an MX?

  • Looks like it's even cheaper at $167 from Amazon UK too

  • Good value to save on data ports in favour of higher capacity. Great for steam drive.

  • +5

Is this good for being a cashay for my videohh collection

    • +1

only if you get the cpu with 3d cachay

  • Would this be good to run Windows and also all my storage on the same drive? My mobo does have an M.2 slot. I'm after fast load times and best competitive gaming performance… (if storage even affects this?

    Thanks!

    • Should get one with dram for windows drive.

      • May as well recommend something suitable then.

        • Something like this then SAMSUNG 970 EVO.

          • @Bangerbargain: okay thanks, ill look into it!

            • @essent1al: Np you might get some bf sales on amazon or ebay.

            • @essent1al: Mx500 is another option with dram cache, usually the cheapest dram option out there.

          • @Bangerbargain: 970 EVO is not 2.5" form factor afaik,
so in most cases not really a substitute for OP offer.

    • short answer is no, do not use this drive for windows.

      • To run macOS or Linux is good? Or the MX500?

    • I'm after fast load times and best competitive gaming performance… (if storage even affects this?

Depends on the game really. Streaming assets off a hdd could lead to the ever so slight stutter, or the ugly little texture pop-in.

This should be close enough to most other sata ssds to not be perceptibly different in load times, since it's mostly reads. Large file copies may be an issue, if you are moving some large games to the drive. I'm not sure if it's enough of a problem to saturate a gigabit connection, but I guess you'll find out.

Patching is usually quite write heavy too. So that might be slower depending on the game.

      • Thanks for the in depth reply mate. Yeah I'll be jamming Warzone mainly! So are you saying this SSD would be good enough for Windows and gaming? Or should i get seperate ones? What about NVME? Its all so confusing really..

    https://www.umart.com.au/product/silicon-power-a55-2tb-tlc-3…
might be ok for someone, umart 2tb silicon power ssd $156

  • Are these good to store games on? Currently using my Evo 970 nvme

  • Is this better for running MacOS/linux or the MX500? Want to use it to run OS for my old iMac

  • Is this suitable as an external SDD for a Series S or rather go with something like a Samsung T7 etc.?

  • I believe the stock at this price has been exhausted. Prices are now:
    Amazon UK = $167.51
    Amazon AU = $183.98

Can go this as a replacement:
Silicon Power Ace A55 2TB $169 from Amazon AU

  • Good price , paid $199 just over a year ago.
    Fine for data/working/games drive.

  • This is still in stock not sure why deal showing as OOS
