    • Sounds like Google hardware. They just suck at ongoing support.

      • Have you got an example of this?

        • They have a widely known reputation of quitting on their products…. Stadia is a great example.

Look at all the online ventures.

@scuderiarmani: Also the Pixel C, amazing tablet but very sad to not have much support at all after a while. Mine busted not long out of warranty and they couldn't do anything for me.

            • @ridinkidonk: I had both the Nest and original go to crap after a year too. Suddenly completely stop broadcasting Wifi outta the blue intermittently. No fw changes.

Not surprised at them only offering 12 months warranty.

Now trying TP Link. Seem an improvement in the last few days.

When Google stuff works it's beautiful. But so often it just goes to shit eventually. Bugs are common.

    • Wow, read through that forum and it is brutal. Sounds like Google are too stubborn to roll back a patch or at least provide a way to roll back to the previous release. I had been thinking about getting some of these at some point to replace the wifi in my home, but will avoid now.

      • I had all sorts of problems recently, thought I'd go back to Nest again as I had good luck with them… little did I know the latest fw was even worse.

Not kidding, I literally had 100 micro drops a night. Was unbearable, FTTP connection, no issues with provider and confirmed. Straight back to JB, they shouldn't be sold in their current state.

They even screwed the new model overseas with Wifi 6 right after launch, I believe UK residents in particular had incredibly slow speeds.

  • Back in stock!

    • Snagged the last one!

    • Probably someone cancelled their order and released back for sale.

      • the message above is pretty negative so most probably scared a few people from buying it.
maybe they were trying to scare a few people so they can buy one themselves when others cancel from the FUD :)
I've never had an issue with my router + 2 points…. hence why I bought another router to add to my mesh.

Has anyone got a delivery date? It seems there is no expected delivery date for these.

    • Not yet, still waiting and hoping it'll go through and not get cancelled.

I had this happen when I bought my Pixel 6 from Amazon UK.
It took about a month for them to get a delivery date, after that it was pretty fast.
I ended up with a $20 Amazon Gift Card, but it took about 1-2 months.

      I'll be happy with a $20 Gift Card + a Nest Router for only $66.99 :)
      fingers crossed!

Obviously not so good for you if you actually need this ASAP.

My wife is complaining about wifi reception on her side of the bed, that's why I ordered. Not a big deal, she can just get out of the room to use her tablet 🤣🤣🤣

    Finally received a shipping estimate 28Dec - 7Feb.

    • +1

      Yeah same!

    • 13/12~21/01 for mine, but it hasn't been shipped so I doubt it will arrive mid Dec.

      • 16/12 - 17/01 for me and hasn't shipped either.

      • mine hasn't shipped yet and I most probably ordered before everybody here since I posted it after I ordered.

I'm hoping I get a $20 Amazon Gift Card out of this like last time :) fingers crossed.

      • Finally dispatched this morning, ETA to arrive 4th of Jan.

Have you guys seen the review posted on Amazon 8/12/22?

" Warning to Australia Customers. UK model does not work when mixed with AU models

Reviewed in Australia on 8 December 2022
Purchased the UK model while on sale as was listed on Amazon AU to add into my Mesh Network of other Google Nests that I purchased in AU. There is not mention in the listing that the UK model does not work when mixed with units from other countries which I only found out when trying to set it up. Be careful if purchasing to use in Australia!"

So that's pretty concerning and I'm not sure if I should continue with my order or not.

    • concerning indeed. I wonder if it would work if I use it as a network of its own with a direct cable from the switch. (so two google nest networks, one AU and one UK :)

    • That would suck, that's the only reason why I bought it… to use it with my existing network so I can reach a spot in the house without dragging a LAN cable there.

I was on chat with Google support just then and here's what they told me.
Sounds like as long as it's the same model it will work.

"the methods to add a device to the Home app do not vary by country. All our products of the same model have the same characteristics in any country."

"they are compatible depending on the model you have. And taking into account the network conditions that all Nest/Google routers require, such as not having double NAT or Modem/router combo in the network."

"But as I told you, there is no difference between routers based on the country they were created or where they come from."

"If you only have internet using the modem, it means that you have a modem/router combo and to avoid having two routers we must activate the Bridge Mode.
Double NAT is when you have a double router from the internet and provider and Nets or Google router. The Nest or Google router always has to be the main router."

"It will work. I can send you some articles that can help you to understand the Nest/ Google router works"

Mine arrived on the weekend. Wouldn't initially connect to the mesh network through wifi, had to connect via a cable to the existing router before the setup could complete. The max mesh speed I have had to other points is 100mbs and that's sitting right next to the main router. Any further away and it slows by half. Doesn't seem to mesh off the other points.
It does work fine connected to the main router with a cable though but this defeats the point with my setup.

    • did you order from this deal? seem to have arrived quicker than expected. You're probably one of the first few to receive from this deal?

      • Yes ordered from this deal. The expected delivery date wasn't until the end of month but it turned up on Saturday.

    • have you tried troubleshooting with google support helpdesk?

      • +3

Factory reset the network in the Google home app and factory reset each device. Setup the new UK router as the main router (probably made no difference) and set the whole network up again. All working now, no issues.

        • Thanks for sharing. Is it based on Google support recommendation?

          • @randomdude14: No just trial and error based on SeVeN11s advice above that it should work.

        • Thanks for sharing this! Got ours a few days ago but haven't it up yet. Will follow SeVen11's way too and hopefully we don't have any issues

  • Finally got shipping confirmation for my order last night.

  • +2

I got an email that it might not make it by Xmas and a 5 dollar voucher for each modem.

    • you got lucky, mine shipped a few days ago.
I'm not in a rush so wouldn't have mind an extra $5 discount :)

    • Looking to sell any of these?

  • Anyone got a Barbie delivered? Got a doll sculpture instead…

  • +1

FYI: I got mine and had exactly the same issue as DaveTheRave.
ended up doing a full factory reset of all my devices and set it all up with no issues.
I followed DaveTheRave instructions, i.e. use the UK one as the router.
Again, not sure if it would have made any difference, but I just did it as it worked for DaveTheRave
