    UK power supply?

    • Yes, UK power plug

UK is 240V, i.e. same as Australia and most commonwealth countries.

      • Could you replace the plug to an AU one?

        • Apparently not with Amazon, but you can obviously use one of these

        • I recommend just having a multi plug powerboard like this one

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/274950077667.
Comes in handy all the times, dont need to mess up with any adaptors etc.

  • Hmm. I already have the old Google wifi. Wonder if I could transfer to this as the base station and keep using other 3 as the mesh. $67 ain't bad for an extra puck.

    • The amazon reviews sayyou can. I'm gonna use this as main and the old wifi as points. Apparently the old wifis are same new nest points.

    • $67 would be one of the cheaper pucks available

  • What's the difference between that and the Google wifi nest mesh router?

    • exact same thing. in the bundle that is router + 2 access points, this is just that router without any access points.

  • +3

Can multiple of these be used to mesh?

    • Have the same question. I’d buy 3 if I can use them for a mesh network.

      • +3

Found this on first Google result. Also from my personal knowledge, yes you can combine multiple routers to create your mesh network. One acts as primary router and the. You an add additional routers as your mesh units. https://smarthomestarter.com/can-you-use-two-google-nest-wif…

        • Wired mesh though? You need point units if you want wireless?

          • +3

@slankets: Two or more Nest Wi-Fi routers can be used hard wired or as a wireless mesh.

        • I currently have a mesh network setup, 1 router, 3 access points (new ones) and one old access point that i bought off fb marketplace. Have had no issues with them syncing. Only issue is with the device themselves, their range is pretty shitty that I actually have speed issues even though they're really about ~7m apart

    • -3

      That's the whole point.

  • Same price on amazon au site

  • Deleted. Meant to be a reply to a comment.

  • +2

Bloody good deal - especially given that this is not a point, but a full router. Can be used as a point as well. (Nest Wifi devices and Google Wifi points can be added to the network that you've created with your router)

    • Yeah, these are way faster and better than the points. If you need a nest speaker, just get that, no point getting a nest point, lacks the 2x LAN ports and is still sporting the speed of routers from 20 years ago. Next wifi is the way to go.

  • +1

What kind of plug on the router itself? USB C or proprietory? Looks like proprietory

    • -2

Ethernet, they are using a flat ethernet cable and the power cable which is not USB C

    • Also wondering (power plug for clarification)

    • +2

Just a barrel plug. Google “google nest wifi router power adapter” plenty of photos.

  • Far out .. I've just ordered nest wifi uk for 90 bucks and thought I had a good deal

  • I already have a Netgear Nighthawk which is a pretty good router. Can this be added to my existing network (e.g., to improve the signal in another part of the house)?

It's too bloody expensive at Google Store, so think I'd buy first and worry later!

Thanks OP, bought one, don't know why! :)

Hope it'll talk to my Nest Hub 2nd gen and the 4x Nest minis.

    • No. Only works with the older or current google wifi.

  • Does this replace my nbn router or work alongside it?

    • +2

no, this take in the Eth cable and creates a wifi network for ya

      • -1

There's appear to be no ethernet port on it though.

        • There is

          • +1

@Dtezy: Sure realised after posting, it's hidden under the base.

  • -7

This is not a Nest router but a mesh point. Buyers beware.

    [EDIT]
Most of the reviews state this. Happy to be proven wrong.

    • +6

albert0pia has no idea what he's banging on about. Readers beware.

      • +1

        Trust in Muzeeb <3

  • +1

Are these safe if use plug converter 24/7?

    • That’s how my hue bridge is powered if that helps.

  • Damn. Paid $200.

  • So i buy this nest router and a couple nest mesh points and ive got internet and smart speakers allover the house?

    • +1

pretty much. but the base router does not have Google Assistant.

    • +1

Or set grab a few of these at this price

  • is this WiFi 6?

    • +2

      Wi-Fi 5.

  • My telstra nbn modem does a great job, would this increase the speed? Or just the coverage?

    • -1

wanting to know this as well. my main issue is coverage with the spare room only getting half the bars of the wifi strength.

      • Coverage you either need a mesh network (multiple APs creating a large seamless area) or buying one premium router. Nest products are low to mid range

      • My current router is in the garage at front of the house and I barely get a signal in the back of the house. But because I don't want to lose 4 x ethernet ports in my current router, which I use for data points in the house, I'm planning to turn off its WiFi and use Google Nest Wifi in a central location in the house to cover the whole house. I have read several review which suggest wifi strength and coverage is excellent on this unit.

        • Buy a switch as well. My Google goes straight to a TP-Link Gigabit 8 port switch. One port becomes 8 :)

          • @Yorkshire-Man: I got a switch but I'm using it in my home office though. Also, if I leave google nest wifi in the garage, the problem of deadzones at the back of the house will persist. I think better to use it in a central location in my opinion.

            • @dealhunter52: The Nest creates one single network around the house, one point talks to the next. If you have a deadzone just add another point & problem solved.

              It works very well

    • Probs better coverage and wifi speed with these.

    • I had a speed improvement of about 3Mbps (not much! ymmv depending on your line speed and other conditions) but I now get full coverage everywhere which is awesome

    • With these is about coverage. If you buy more than one that better coverage should give better speed and less drop outs to the weak areas though. If your Telstra router has good signal strength you won't get much of a boost if any.

I'm not an expert on this but the google wifi 3 pack I purchased from Amazon UK a few months ago couldn't connect to my current google mesh. I did some research and it said it doesn't work because the devices had different country codes. Even the google support website itself says if you're setting up a mesh make sure they're all purchased from the same country, due to differences in Wi-Fi regulations the devices are set up different. So if you're looking to connect this to your current AU mesh it may not work.

    • bugger!

      • Hope this could have been fixed in Wifi 5, Google won't want to shut out customers, they're a global business.

        • buying a couple of these would still be a cheap entry into a mesh network.

id rather buy the pro pack seen as these dont have speakers either

        • Being a global business doesn't matter. There are different Wi-Fi regulations between the AU and UK.

    • Great point. However multiple reviews on the UK site show AU users have been ok setting it up with existing AU points, so I guess this is a non-issue between UK-AU devices at least.

      • Hardest bit will be waiting for individual points to go onsale. Suppose you could get a couple of these and a couple seperate speakers cheaper anyway

      • I can only see one review by an Australian, who only mentions using it as a router, rather than as part of an AU mesh. Are there others that mention this working?

  • If i buy 2, can i connect the first 1 to my nbn box.

Then the 2nd one somwhere else wirelessly?

    • +2

      yes

  • Dumb question - will this work with deco m5 (3pk) to extend the wifi range?

    • +1

      unlikely

    • No

    • No purchase more Deco's to extend the Wi-Fi.

  • Anyone comment how any returns/exchanges would work here?

    • Amazon international returns are really easy! They’ll also pay for your return shipping

      • True. I bought some towels that were supposed to be 700gsm but we’re only 450gsm.

Lodged a return and dropped them back at an Amazon linked depot. Easy as.

  • from what I read it will not work nicely with existing 3rd party router, if you want to use this as an access-point only.
    can someone confirm this? thanks.

    • Pretty sure you can just create a new wifi network and use your third party router to connect to the internet.

    • No don't think so. Only other google wifi or nest.

    • Only one Nest Wi-Fi can be configured as an AP and no more. I would pick something else that doesn't have this limit.

    • +1

You can turn off the wifi on your existing router and use this for wifi instead.

  • is it any good? This or tp link mesh system?

  • This or ASUS RT-AX86U ?

    • +2

If both same price, then definitely ASUS RT-AX86U….Apples and oranges mate.

  • Any point in getting a matching Nest point with this?

    • Yes to act as an AP rather than a router and extend the network coverage. Got a link?

      • Got 2 of these routers to create a mesh system (based on discussions here and what I can find elsewhere). I'm curious if I still need a Point unit.

        No link though.

        • Don't need one at all

          • @abuch47: Great. Cheers! Now hopefully they don't cancel our orders given the price.

            • @ddhar: Depends if you have a big 50 square house may be you need a an AP to go with these. 30 square should be okay with two i guess.

              • @megadeth: Are you talking in sqm or sqkm? 50sqm is not big at all.

              • @megadeth: Google wifi has the worst range of any mesh device or router I've used.

I need 4 where I can get away with 2 from other brands.

  • +1

Quick question: I have iiNet NBN and am using its router with VOIP (landline number that I wanna keep). Can I connect this Google Nest Wi-Fi Router to the iiNet router or do I need to replace the iiNet router with this one completely? Thank you.

  • Shows 198 for me :(

  • Looks likely to be price error… I think they thought they were points or the Google wifi? Hmm

  • -1

    The site shows $199.
    Where do you find $69?

  • have google wifi, regret not buying an enterprise router 😭 (VLAN my beloved)

  • Wow this is a good price. I got it at original price.

    • Did you get the UK version as well? We bought this (buy now think later!) but now I am worried that it won't work with our existing google wi fi (AU version)

      • +2

        I'm in the same boat.
I have an existing AU-purchased Google WiFi router with 2 points that I'm planning to add this UK version into.

        fingers crossed.

  • Looks like an OzB Special AstiVita Aroma Diffuser
