The ultimate version is only worth it for RDROnline which at this point has been abandoned

maybe you don't have friends that play online with you any more but there are alot people I know that still play online.

  • Anyone bought from one of the resellers before instead….? Looks like you can get it for under $20

You can only get Steam keys for this game on Steam itself.

Get it for the single player primarily. Fantastic game.

As for Red Dead Online, Rockstar said they're not doing any new major updates for RDO. They introduced annoying new bugs several months ago and they are still not fixed. They still do the monthly 'events'.

RDO players on PC will regularly come across modders with all kinds of exploits. This is due to the peer-to-peer nature of the multiplayer. If you come across them in 'free roam' mode, you can avoid them by suspending the RDR2.exe process for about 5 seconds which will put you into a new session. Can't do this though if you're in a match or event which means you'll come across invulnerable players, aimbotters etc.

You can player multiplayer with others that you want by using something like RDO Lobby Manager which is a nice UI front end to modifying the startup.meta file. Downside is you're limited to free roam.

What saves Red Dead multiplayer is RedM. Community based modded RDO that runs seperately to vanilla. Some of the mods are pretty massive. Check it out if you're interested in multiplayer. Far less cheaters too with many of the servers running whitelists.

This is why I bought the $30 not the Ultimate. Didn't seem like it was worth it given the state of online

Storyline deserves an Emmy or Oscar. I'm not a fan of Country Western/Cowboy genre and I was quite moved by this.

Cheaper via GMG if you want an Epic copy

I managed to switch my Au store to Argentine. Every game is so much cheaper. RDR only cost like 15 dollars.

    • once you change region to Argentina, can you just use your Australian card/paypal to purchase from the Argentinian store? Do you need a vpn every time you purchase?

      • No you don't need a VPN any more after only one purchase "in Argentina". Just buy a random A$0.99 cheap game and then you are good to go.

        • Didn't work for me.. It wouldn't accept my aus cc.

  • What's the appeal of steam copy over epic?

    • If you don't intend on multiplayer online, which is pretty much dead at this point for RDR2, nothing.

The whole 'i hate Epic, I only buy games on Steam' is a really weird misplaced loyalty. Valve could care less about their customers - just like most large businesses.

        Couldn't care less.

Cheap at ten times the price.

It's not expired. Doesn't expire until 29th November.

  • It’s $23.45 at Voidu as part of their Black Friday sale, redeems on the rockstar launcher though.

    • Maybe a dumb question, but if you get a copy like that, does it still show up in your steam account/show play time etc…?

      • No, you can add it as a third party game link to open it from steam, but it’s a totally separate launcher (like battle.net)

  • Great deal, I grabbed it on Wednesday and have already put 10 hours into this on my Steam Deck.

    • I have a Deck also and was going to ask how it plays on it! Apparently it was terrible a couple of months ago but is now stable?

      • +1

Yeh - solid 30fps most of the time with nice graphics. Pretty comparable to previous gen console.
        Check out this guys video

        • Have you looked into doing any of the VRAM/Swap fix stuff mentioned in his video?

          • +1

@JuryWheel: I've done both - the video mentions it performs better with 1gb of VRAM, and 16gb swapfile and I've made those changes. (well, 1gb VRAM is default)
