Brother MFC-L8690CDW Colour Laser Multifunction $599 + Delivery @ Mwave

160

Not a bad deal from mwave on this popular multifunction. I nabbed one from Amazon already.

Remember not to update the firmware to reduce the risk of losing the ability to use generic toners.

    Brother MFC-L8690CDW $599

    27.9 kg !!!

Is it common to be concerned about the mass of a non-portable printer?

      • -1

        For a Brother, then yes…

        • +6

He's not heavy, he's my brother.

        jv confirmed to be weak?

      • +1

I had to strengthen the cudboard that I put my printer on!

I went to open the door but I couldn't as the top of the cudboard was bending under the weight of the printer.

I think he's making an obscure reference to an earlier comment on an old deal regarding printer weight.

This one? Unless it's an on-going joke

(profanity)… best printer I ever had.
Wish it was that low before
    Had it $900

  • Who still prints in 2022?

    • Much easier to mark up construction plans and lighter/easier to carry.

    • Brother

    • Box tickers, there are a bunch of them in every organisation.

    • Business

    • Me.

  • Thanks for the deal. Is there a similar A3 version of this printer?

    • +1

Brother doesn't have A3 laser printers, only inkjet (according to their website).

The only two A3 printers recommended by Choice are (inkjet) Brother MFC-J5855DWXL and MFC-J5955DW
The MFC-J6555DWXL had next highest A3 Choice score (and only 1% less than the above two).

HP has a laser A3 printer but it is pushing $2000

Some of the Brother A3 printers have only A4 scanning, but most have A3 scanning.

  • Thanks for the firmware tip, though mine’s been nagging for an update since we got it three years ago and it always fails. Doesn’t seem to matter, has been a solid unit in that time.

  • The shipping cost to Perth negates the special price. So it's not a deal for me

    • yes, was excited about it too, then saw the almost $120 shipping charge…
