    Shuckable?

    • +4

These are direct USB on the controller board.

SATA isn't available unless you want to directly solder a new port to the correct pads with bodge wires. (No, just no.)

    • WD 2.5 portable drives are practically all USB onboard now.

If you'd like to shuck, go Seagate. However at this capacity and size it's all SMR so don't expect difference between either brands.

  • The Ultra Blue offer expires Until 31st Dec 22 23:59 Or While stock lasts.

The Black don't have an expiry

    • It was meant to be for 1 hour only until 12pm. I guess they haven't sold 200 yet.

      • Ultra blue has been changed.

Until 30th Nov 22 23:59 Or While stock lasts

  • Looks like officeworks only have it in silver, so they will not price beat these models.

    • Yeah silver only for the My Passport Ultra 4TB @ OW.

OW have the My Passport 4TB Black $154. $94.05 price beat.

Yes, I just managed to do it. They couldn’t find it on the website and I had to get the guy to dig around in the cupboard until he found one. He was not happy.

Never understand when the staff are so hesistant to do price matches as if they're personally losing out on the profit. Unless they also get punished for being too generous too often?

          • +1

@vawiyoci: This does happen everywhere I guess (to me at Bunnings)…. It could be a trained tactic for staff. First they value lazy customers who pay the inflated prices, and vice versa don't like smart customers who (have done their research before parting with their hard earned money) are pushing for a price match.

Back to the deal, I got the better Ultra Blue.

            • @SearchAndSave:

              they value lazy customers

Maybe at the managerial/owner level or to the shareholders, but like I said unless the floor staff are getting paid a commission cut of any sale without a pricematch or face punishment then is it really just a case of trained brainwashing?

  • did the price just go up on the ultra?

    • $99 still showing here.

      • +1

had to refresh again now back down to $99, thanks for checking

    • Still showing $99, ultra support usb-c which better than the black one.
Edit: adds to cart as $138

  • Blue one price changes to $138 on checkout.
ITs good for click and collect. Delivery is expensive at $14. Better to wait for amazon deal or something.

    • +1

I'm still getting $99 at checkout.

wow, delivery "from $18" to SA

Buy it from Amazon and claim price protection 👍

    Thanks

    • +1

I would love to hear more about this Price protection please :)
      Cheers mate

    • How does one claim price protection? I have tried to do this in the Amazon live support/chat on multiple occasions and they make an excuse every time… doesn't make sense to me. I purchase one day, and the next day it's 30% off …. I talk to them about it and they deny me.

      • Haha you claim it with your insurance company. You need to pay for price protection

        • lol what … my credit card doesn't have price protection (none that's claimable as per their T&C's because nonsense)

What separate insurance product, not within a credit card, would be available to consumers?

oh damn i must have got lucky as just ordered the blue one for $99 to be collected.

Very happy with my existing 4TB blue one so decided to get another blue one to replace an older 2TB portable hdd.

    • you can order 2?

      • no i ordered 1 only. i bought one about 9 momths ago from another site for like $100 as well.

Thanks OP. Glitchy checkout process - 99 on product page, turned up at 138 at checkout; then emptied cart and redid it and it became 99.. bought for pickup

Went to price match at JB HI FI, stacked with the 7.5% corporate discount.

    • Could not find this item on their website

  • Ordered the Ultra at $99 picked up at Clayton just now.
