$199 Melbourne TV Wall Mounting

38

Recently got my TV mounted by them, pretty good price. All cables were concealed was very happy.
Asked me to help them out with advertising, they told me they were doing it for $199 Melbourne wide, which is pretty cheap compared to others I called up.

So apart from being an Ad, how is this even remotely a bargain?

  • 199 to mount a TV Bracket? how about ten bux and a trip to bunnings and one of these delivered for 20 bux…?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Slimline-Universal-Tilt-Bracket-4…
cables and leads are ony another 10 bux… the ebay listing actually comes with a free HDMI cable!
so 40-50 bux in materials, 150 for labour for a 10-20 minute job…?

there is no bargain here, and i wouldnt be surprised if your the business owner and not a customer, however, seeing as you've checked REP, its not as big of an issue…

dont understand why someone would pay for this though…

    sorry no bargain just spam.

I would like to hear of people doing it themselvs… If anyone can find the brackets posted for under $40 they are doing well. Hate to do it yourself & stuff it up oh & would need to buy a studfinder to do this job.

    $200 is fair

    • no one said it wasnt "fair".

      but it aint no bargain.

    • see my post above… posted it 5 minutes before your post… 20 bux for the bracket…

and 20 odd bux for a stud finder, if you cant do this job for under 40 bux (or even 60 with a stud finder) there is something wrong with you….

-hiding cables as per your post below is a different story though…I'll give you that. still wouldnt classify it as a bargain though.

  • 20 minute job? We had a qualfied guy do ours & it took him just over a hour. Had to also run the power cord into the wall & antenna cord.

    • Plus driving to and from your place.

    • If he is running power and an antenna cable though the wall that’s better, hidden could just mean behind a low lying table…
though to do it properly they would have to have an electrical license, would need a safety certificate… i hope they haven’t put the antenna and power cable down the same cavity!

  • Buy the hardware yourself and call in somebody from the Grey Army or Spinners to mount it in 1/2 hour and you'll still come out ahead.

    Mounted including hardware @ $199 = Bargain!
Not everyone is capable of doing such a job themselves and a deal like this would be hard to beat for a full supply and install.

Similar price from the cable connections.

    • I dunno if it's just me, but I read that segue & instantly got a whiff of knitwear/hosiery! ;)

"Asked me to help them out with advertising"

Not to mention sockpuppeting (REP and 1st post).

  • When I did this at home I first got quotes for having it done by someone else and ~$200 was the average price. In the end I couldn't justify spending the money and did it myself for ~$50. It took me one hour + two minutes with another person to lift it onto the wall. This is on a double brick wall with a small piece of conduit to hide the cables.

If you don't have access to a spirit level, drill, and pencil or you can't/won't do it yourself then $200 is reasonable but no bargain.

    • The last 4x brackets I've bought have even had the spirit level built-in! :)

    lol at PlaZma

    • i hope they install better than they spell…

      • Hey, I'll have you know that word was a 1hr job jv! :p

  • I did mine for $60. That included sliding a new stud through the roof tiles between the bricks and plaster so it was exactly centre to the wall. (one of those slim swivel brackets that bolt to a single stud)

  • Just an advert.

at least you admit this is advertising and nothing special. nearly $200 an hour, wow what a rip
