A fairly reliable smart plug, quite large though. Can barely fit a normal plug next to it in a standard double GPO.
App control via Cygnett, EWeLink or Apple Homekit. Works with Google Assistant, Alexa, and Siri (Homekit) voice assistants
Energy monitoring also works (I use it to see how much power my pool pump consumes - I have been using this outside on the pool pump for 18 months and it hasn't missed a beat).

Some people have had issues with these plugs and prefer the Meross ones on Amazon - I have not had experience with Meross yet, just make sure you buy the HomeKit ones if you need Homekit compatibility.

This is the cheapest I've seen it at Big W. Cygnett were selling them for $14.45 + $5 shipping. Amazon has had on sale for $17.45

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

  • Is there such thing that allows you to plug one of these in and still have access to the other plug next to it? (Less wide)

    • An extension cable?

Yep TP-Link make slim ones that don't block the plug next to them. Can recommend.

      • Awesome, need one for the Xmas tree, I’ll check them out

        • Make sure you specifically get the slim version(s), as their older ones are chunky. Depending on the model you're after it should have either "Slim" or "Mini" in the name. Both are slimline and should do the trick!

      • Yeah also considering the tp link ones jb had the 4 pack on special with a further $10 off with perks

I wouldn't recommend these. I bought 2 of these a year+ ago, and they've been terrible. Occassionaly they unpair themselves from the Cygnett app, or forget that they're connected on wifi. Once they unpaired and I couldn't get them to pair again no matter what I did. I contacted Cygnett support who said I should try with an iphone instead of an android device, pair it with homekit and then reset it to get it working again.

    • I had bad experience as well, but it seems Cygnett is fixing the problems. It has a new app and wifi connection stable now.

    • I've had one of these for a couple of years now. I did have some issues develop after a while but once I updated the firmware it has been rock solid since. Using with apple home kit.
Have just recently bought some of the wifi bulbs. Didn't initially connect with the cygnett app so tried successfully with homekit then was able to update firmware and connect via the cygnett app.

      • I found the Cygnett stuff connects after power cycling my iPhone, hope this has been fixed in the firmware.

    • The Cygnett app is terrible. The update version is just a newer (but not great) UI and firmware upgrading has always been a problem.

Not sure if you have tried connecting the units to the eWeLink app (which doesnt conflict with them being in homekit). With Cygnett app I could never get any firmware updates unless i removed them from Homekit and reset the units. I have some of the powerboard ones as well that had the same issue. The eWeLink app was able to firmware update easily without having to do any resets etc and has been stable ever since,

  • I nearly bought this a while ago. Ended up with a Meross MSS210. One great feature of the Meross is that it works without a hub, so you can create automations on an iPhone to control it.

  • These are great

And have room for another on double power point

  • I've tried this but could not for the life of me connect to my wifi (router with dual band 2.4ghz and 5ghz, even after setting up a separate 2.4ghz connection just for this). Best of luck for anyone who wants to try.

  • Chunky.

  • Im in the same boat.. bought one a year or so ago. Took ages to get it ti connect, been faultless since thankfully

But i bought one now as well and cannot get it to connect, no matter what i try and i gave turned off the 5ghz band and only have 2.4 on, still no go. Will take it back this w/e

    • Did you try restaring your phone? Works for me every time…

      • Yep, and my modem, and tried another phone

        • Another obscure thing I learned just this week. Couldn't connect my Xiaomi 2S fan to the Mi Home app, changed the gateway security from WPA/WPA2 Personal to WPA2 Personal - connection successful.

  • Price shows up at $34.95
