$100 off First Year Comprehensive Car Insurance + $100 Cashrewards Cashback @ Aust Post (Online Only)

1192

If you don't want to keep paying insurance company the loyalty surcharge, may be it's time to switch to a new insurance co.

Now Australia Post is running a promotion which would take $100 off your first year's premium when you buy Comprehensive Car Insurance online. T&Cs apply

AustPost's promotion period ends 16.59pm 16 Jan 2023, Sydney time.

Make it even more sweet, Cashrewards is running $100 cashback for purchasing car insurance policy from Australia Post at the moment, so you can potentially make more saving on your premium.

My car comprehensive policy is due to renew next month, it's insured by QBE, and AustPost's comprehensive policy is underwritten by QBE too, it just acts as a broker. For me, an old Camry and with no under 25 years old drivers saving me more than $200 than renew with QBE.

But do shop around, compare the quotes from different insurers before deciding whether this deal is really saving for you.

Always check the T&C and PDS before you make a financial decision, there is no harm to do a quote first, as YMMV.

Pity I just renewed one with Allianz, would have been a lot cheaper with this deal.

if you cancel it you will get a pro-rata refund?

      • Perhaps could, subject to some fees probably. But call me old-fashioned, 'pacta sunt servanda'. While I change SIMs all the time, I only have 'no contract' situations there.

        • Can I cancel my Allianz policy?
There is no cancellation fee if you need to cancel your insurance.

It's not entirely correct; market value is based on your car's value at the time it is assessed. They will offer you a number, and you can counter-offer them. I've done it before. All you have to do is find three or more comparable cars and send it to them. I'd always tried to find the most expensive comparable car at the time. Car dealer drive-away is the way to go. If private remember to add on the transfer fee and rego (if unregistered)

    • It seems this promotion is extended to coincide with cash back offer from Cashrewards.

It was stated to ends this afternoon.

  • there's enough horror stories out there about insurance companies's claims process that i'm not going to tempt fate by going for the cheapest premium. have had to make a few claims both with Shannons and RAC, and both have made a stressful situation a lot easier to handle. Shannons are a bit slower, and you have to put up with quite a lot of "win an indian motorcycle!" spam, but their call centre staff are so wonderfully understanding and accommodating, it more than makes up for it. if your preferred repairer isn't already in their system, they'll get them on there for you. RAC are also quick and easy to deal with.

    • From my understanding, Shannon's have their own call centre and operate almost as a separate part of Suncorp/AAI Limited. Mainly as they are a bit more niche (enthusiasts), etc. but they also are harder to get a policy from (they have a checklist to make sure you're an enthusiast), etc.

      • i had no problem. my car is far from any of the typical "enthusiast" cars (definitely not the type you'd see in their ads), nor did they ask me anything out of the ordinary to determine if i was "enthusiast". it was just the typical questions insurance companies usually ask like driver history, agreed value, modifications, additional cover and usage/annual mileage.

  • Came in at $14 cheaper a month, a saving but then it will revert back next year and have to change again. CBF

  • Thanks, ended up being over $200 cheaper than my renewal via Coles car insurance next month.

  • Has anyone had their Cashrewards $100 tracked?

  • Anyone’s tracked.. mine didn’t … had to raise a claim, hopefully will be honoured

  • Any news?
I contacted them and it’s now back in my list with $100 pending.
Now to wait the cooling off period and see what happens.
