Too bad Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD isn't on sale🙁

    • +2

You mean the 6900hx/6850xt config? I remember it dropped down to 3 grand for like two times before already. Give it a bit and surely another deal will come sooner or later. Or you can grab an alienware m17 deal with the same cpu+gpu combo for around the same 3k mark if that deal comes sooner.

      • Yep that's the one

  • +9

All these recent laptop deals make me thankful i impulse bought the $1199 Kraken deal 🤣

    • +1

      Kraken is king! Well done!

      • Things a beast 💪

    • +1

      Fear the Kraken!

      • Releasing the Kraken 😁

    • +1

Best deal this year so far as laptops are concerned

      • +1

After doing my research i have noticed that! Lucky i took the plunge when i did.

    A 4gb 3050ti on a QHD screen is shit.

    • -1

I have one and absolutely nothing wrong. If you mean achieving 200 FPS in a AAA title…if you are such a baller you shouldn't be buying a 3050Ti or playing on the built in display anyway.

      • just because you overpaid for a trash gpu doesnt mean others need to repeat the same mistake sorry mate.

        • How do you know how much I paid? I also did not suggest to people they should buy this. I simply countered his comment.

          • +4

@hippo2s: 'I simply countered his comment' With all due respect your argument doesnt make sense?

'absolutely nothing wrong. If you mean achieving 200 FPS in a AAA title'

There is absolutely something wrong with 3050/50ti mobile chips with 4gb of vram, its not even '200fps in triple a titles' this card fail to beat 1660ti mobile in games whenever the 4gb of vram is breached and that alone means this is a card not worth a damn if one want to enjoy at any capacity thats above 3, 4 year old titles.

How do you know how much I paid?

sure i dont know how much you paid, but I simply dont see it any reason to defend the specs at this price in anyway. this card definitely doesnt work on a 2k screen in games

      • But what fun is there in playing on 480p?

        • GameCube and Dreamcast bliss!

    • BTW it's not QHD. It's WQXGA.

      • -1

My bad. It's still shit though. Actually it's even worse.

        Sad you wasted your money.

        • -2

wow you also know how much I paid?

LOL chill dude. Objectively…can someone find the same spec machine, same brand at lower price? If not then it's technically a bargain worthy to be listed.

          • @hippo2s: LOL ok baller.

          • +4

@hippo2s: I hope you got a good deal on yours.
It might be fine for your specific use case but to most it's not a good option.
Having such a good display but a relatively weak GPU will hurt the gaming experience for most new releases, even for those aiming for a modest 30-60 fps.
At this price point you'd expect at least a 3060 if not a 3070.

      • its just difference between 16:9 and 16:10, all legion 5 pros have the same screen and 3060 rigs were cheaper in a lot of sales before this and 3070 skus were 2 grand a few times as well.

        • +2

Yep, agreed better buy if one is available as good price. If you want framerates, textures, high resolution gaming definitely spend more and get 3060 as a minimum.

Not everyone needs/wants that tho, I know programmers that get Legion Pro for the resolution of display, this is great for those users, they don't need the GPU. Money saved is money saved!

          • @hippo2s:

            Money saved is money saved!

legion 5 with 3060 was literally cheaper many times before i dont know where is the money saved coming from

            • -1

@Brrrrt: Was, you seem to live in the past mate

              • +2

@KirKoloft: lol and whatever happen to 'money saved is money saved'? you keep saying its good specs for the dollar and when i point out its not good specs you say its cheap and when i point out its not cheap you say this is on sale right now. I guess any sort of 'sales' can be posted on ozbargain even if they arent actually sales when people pay extra dollar for less stuff. fun times

                • -1

@Brrrrt: Are you the bargain police? 😁

                  • @KirKoloft: yes indeed I am how, aww damn man did you know? im honestly flattered. anyways please ring 222 for a callout im avalible 24/7

  • +2

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/729000

wait for better deals. why someone would settle for even twice Ti 3050 at this price is beyond me

  • +3

legions are great but this config at this price is for masochists and as much as I would like to say theres no shame in having different kinks you really outta to hate yourself to buy this

  • I don’t know why people are trashing it, this is amazing for those who love light gaming but in a bulkier form factor.

    • +1

They can trash it as much as they want, I was going to buy this:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175442593095?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

Then I found the Lenovo deal, for a little bit more you'll get much better specs.

      • +1

thats not a gaming laptop you linked mate. if you want intels gaming linup the x15 is 1.5 grand on bpc and this is without any sort of a sale going on.

        • I know the Intel Nuc M15 is not a gaming laptop. You didn't get my point mate, this Lenovo deal is much better than the Nuc.

          • @KirKoloft:

You didn't get my point mate

whats your point being then? if you mean less performance for more I dont know what to say mate. If you just want the laptop for the screen alone you can do a much better deal than this as legions with better specs were going for less many times before

            • @Brrrrt: Lenovo deal is much better than the Nuc.
Better screen, better CPU+ GPU and better build quality.
This is the best you can get right now. Enough said

              • @KirKoloft:

                better screen and build quality

yes and yes, but also more expensive, and more expensive than previous legion deals more less performance

                better CPU+ GPU

gpu is much worse, cpu is also not better, 6800h is refresh of 5800h in 6nm with minimal increase in actual performance and main improvement is igpu and battery life. 11800H gets 50% extra L3 cache which helps more in games. its a trade off not a straight upgrade

                • @Brrrrt: 6800H is not a battery hog like the Intel

                  • +1

@KirKoloft: I literally did point out the battery life part in my last comment, cheers.

and again not a straight upgrade, in ways more than one downgrades. cheaper and better legions exist and we are on ozbargain i thought we discuss bargains here

    • +1

It's enough for playing games where FPS is not the yard stick, even recent ones. Not all gamers need high res, frames per second and use 12GB of textures.

      Sextris anyone?

      • Agree 100%

      • Well yes, not everyone needs/wants high resolution, fps or textures but nobody should be paying this much for these specs.

    • ….or one can go for laptop deals with more power for cheaper and you can literally turn performance/fan profiles down when you need it and still get the performance back if you ever wanted to play some hardware intensive games.

legion 5 3060 deals were cheaper or similiar price many many times before, paying same or more $ for less performance doesnt go against ozbargain values no matter how you look at it.

      • +1

        Were cheaper, not right now!

        • You are 100% right. Its not cheaper right now, this instant, this month this year and this point in time, in mankinds history, but it doesnt make this a deal when its much worse specs for extra dollars. I thought we are on ozbargain not oz'this is on sale so it must be a deal'.com

          • @Brrrrt: Mate obviously this isn't a deal for you, so move on and look for a better deal

        • +1

Exactly. If there is a comparable deal…then let's see it. Same brand, same spec. Otherwise a deal is a deal.

You can't compare a Toyota Corolla deal right now to a Hyundai Sonata deal that is cheaper, at a different time.

Some people just need a Corolla. And they want it now.

'Oh but if you should get a BMW M3 because it's much better performance for driving….'. But not everyone needs or wants that.

          • @hippo2s: Exactly 🤣👍

          • @hippo2s: thats not a fair comparison. the l5p in this deal is not a straight upgrade compared to previous legion deals and it cost more. making a car comparison doesnt work here, everything in a corolla from exterior to inside is different to a hyndai and to a bwm, same can not be said for laptops.

            • +1

@Brrrrt: Plenty of car buyers pay a premium for a new facelifted model of the same car.

Thank you for trying to educate me. I respect your objective input. I just don't agree completely to them tho. I would ask for same respect to be shown to other users here.

              • @hippo2s: how did i not respect any of you? I am simply point out this is not a deal in any capacity to prevent clueless people from buying this clearly-not-a-deal and I dont see how i am ever so wrong.

                • @Brrrrt: Mate you love to argue for the sake of arguing.

        • I think the point is to raise awareness that waiting a week or 2 may be better than settling for this inferior system when Lenovo have been running a lot better deals week in, week out for many months.
Someone coming in today who is not in a hurry may see this deal otherwise and buy thinking it's a bargain. If you need to order right now today, yes it's top, but most people on a bargain site would be willing to wait a week or 2 for the same price and 3060 for example

  • +1

    3050Ti, Lenovo are such cucks.

    • woah hold up there, someone will come tell you that they 'didnt need the extra performance anyways' and 'its cheaper so its a deal' ignoring the fact 3060 legions sales were only cheaper

      • Again, your catchfrase is either "was" or "were", stop living in the past mate

        • again, just because this is advertised by lenovo as 'on sale' does not justify its worthiness as a deal, every shop out there have discounts daily I guess these are all deals now all of a sudden? ebays mr.jack is a deal because they slapped a 20% voucher on a 20% marked up item? If you wouldnt say these are deals you should treat this as a deal neither.

          • @Brrrrt: Bargain cop give it a rest.

            • +1

@KirKoloft: nahhhhh this is ozbargain i will not give it a rest until i kick the bucket

    • +1

They sure are, I really hope no poor sucker got roped into actually buys this! Lol

  • legions are great but this config at this price is for masochists and as much as I would like to say theres no shame in having different kinks you really outta to hate yourself to buy this

    • Haha yep they can staple the receipt to their forehead and cop the humiliation they deserve!

  • is the $800 difference vs HP victus deal worth it?

    • I'm sure the bargain cop will have an answer for you soon.

    • which victus deal, you mean the desktop one posted today? arent really comparable ones a laptop ones a desktop mate

    • Assume you mean this one. Absolutely not.
The legion has nicer build quality and better display but will be absolutely thrashed by the HP in performance.
Even the RTX 3060 is borderline useable at QHD but much better suited to a FHD display, making the HP much more sensible design.
The 3050 Ti will be absolutely struggling at QHD, you'll have to scale back resolution which defeats the point of such as beautiful display

      • yes thats the one.

  • +3

Bit steep for a 3050, those krakens with 3070's for around $1500 destroy this for gaming, and it is meant to be a "gaming" laptop right?

I don't see the point of this, if you want to just do office stuff and light gaming, get a 1k laptop instead.

This should have minimum 3060ti-3070ti to better match the CPU and screen IMO.

  • +2

Not that I think this is a good deal either but if you're certain a 3050 Ti is ok for your needs then may as well get the older Ryzen 7 5800H Legion 5 Pro for $1599 (~$280 cheaper).

Performance difference between the 5800H and 6800H isn't worth the price difference. Comparison video

    • Was gonna write out a comparison between OPs listing and my older 5800H 32GB 3070 but this very succinctly does the job. Well done.

If you're paying the premium for a Legion Pro, in the first place you're looking to combine great display, workhorse components, MUX switch and good cooling (replace the ram if you're gaming), sensible ports and build, and reliable warranty.

This config insults the buyer with the GPU and for this price point you will find something that better suits what you need, starting with the 5800H model for $280 less.

  • This is a bad GPU pairing with a WQXGA —- 3050Ti running 1600p, that's pretty low framerate in a lot of games.

  • Low spec
