Feels like when OzBargain had a boner for knife deals

No deal here. The minimum cost is $248 for a basic oil change + $99 aircon service = $347 minimum cost. I’ve had mates call me in tears because RAC servicing has the most inflated and dubious mechanical repair charges I’ve ever seen. They didn’t even grease my mates tie rods or put clamps/cable ties on the new boots. Everyone in Perth is doing $99 air con service atm with no need to book a full service.

    • For reference. JH will install pollen filter for free at 20% off with no need to get a mechanical service. https://www.johnhughes.com.au/specials/air-con-service

Beware. I just used your link and did service, THEY DON'T REGAS. I just wasted money.

        • Correct the link didn’t say anything about a regas. Was your aircon working normally or was it warm? Low aircon gas can also be a sign of a leak, dry seals etc. Could nearly guarantee that $99 would blow out to who knows what with RAC.

          • @Fordboy351: They didn't even check if aircon works or not. What they just did is cleaning filter and spray disinfectant. That
Is it. Nothing involved with actual aircon function. Trust me.

I lost any respect for RAC when they charged a mate 1L of brake fluid for a top up (2008 Aurion)

Anyone who knows anything about cars would know that 1L of brake fluid is heaps even for a flush.

    • RAC tried to rip off my mum when her timing belt snapped (her fault it happened 'cos she wanted to wait 17+ years to get to 100,000 kms to change it), telling her it could potentially be an expensive engine-out repair etc. but wouldn't let my mechanic posing as her friend have a look at the car. turns out it was a non-interference engine and a straightforward repair.

that was lucky then. so many engines these days are interference engines, and that would have been catastrophic

        • very. i'll also add that the repair wasn't completed at RAC - she had it towed to my mechanic who fixed that and a bunch of other stuff she neglected due to being a cheapskate.

Too much negativity on RAC WA. I have serviced my car with AutoBahn, AutoMasters, MyCar, Car Dealers and they all tend to find issues which doesn't exist.

So far my experience with RAC has been good. The only negative experience I had with RAC is with their Bentley service center.

Regarding the deal, if you usually service with RAC like me, then it's best to do the Aircon Service here rather than going to another service center for this again.

    • RAC Osborne Park is not much better.

  • that thumbnail … looks like for debt collection services
