I Think I Have Found The Broden on Facebook

I think I have finally found Broden on Facebook.

I note that he is buying majority of stuff that was posted on OzBargain such as:

Google Nest Hub

Xiaomi Yeelight

Samsung S21 FE

Bose Sport Earbuds

Motorola G82 Mobile

Logitech MX Mechanical Wireless Keyboard

Good for him hustling to make some money. Doesn't really harm you in any way. Its just competition when you want to snag a bargain

    • +10

There is difference between bordening dozens of Bose Sport Earbuds and snagging a bargain

      • -8

I guess it depends on your perspective, yeah it does make it challenging. But so many people on ozbargain buy things just because they're cheap, and buy multiples too. Is this any worse?

        • +11

This guy is a scalper, simple as that. Scalpers are a cancerous blob that provide no value to anyone, just look at what's happened with tickets for concerts etc.

There's a difference between buying something that's on sale that you plan to use, versus buying 20 and reselling them just to make some money.

  • Probably bought all the gift cards last week at Coles.

  • +6

nest hub for $56 , less whatever discounted gift coupon and shopback… flip for $65..

Regular wolf of ‘ozbargain’ street right there

Definitely worth stuffing around with tire kickers, scammers, time wasters, hagglers etc

    • +3

Yeah, this guy would be the definition of someone who doesn't value their time at all. At the end of the year he will post something and say "I made $5000 by reselling stuff" but not mention that it took hundreds of hours to do it with all the frustration etc.

Maybe he enjoys doing all that ?

Or simply he has ozbargain syndrome - buy 1st think later ,

Instead of hoarding, good for him looking to offload at a profit, whilst saving the planet from e-waste.

PS: No, you've not found him. I'm certainly not him.

    • That's a sweet 20% profit margin with zero employee / advertising / shopfront costs.

$9 for hours of work is a bad deal.

  • lol.. that's dedication.. pallet loads of Xiaomi product.
    Warehouses in Brisbane and Sydney…

    • add butt hurt/sour grapes because I missed out on the deal poll option.

Wonder how many things he’s going to be stuck with that he’ll have to drop the price on further because no one’s biting lol.

    What's a broden?

I vote for each poll option.

  • How many of those items would you have personally bought?

People have been doing this when there's sales online and in the shops. Shop owners even do this if the sale prices are cheaper than their usual suppliers. It's a way to make money and it's not against any laws, terms/conditions of the sales. Doing it doesn't exactly come risk free - those items are on sale for a reason and the person is stuck with the stock if he can't sell it.

He's not out there stealing or scamming others, so what's your problem?

I never understood why being a property broden is generally celebrated, wheras being a "stuff you don't actually need to survive" broden is detestable.

I mean, everyone needs a place to live, but nobody actually needs a Google nest. I find it baffling.

Can you shed some light on that for me?

Don't get me wrong, I would totally be a property broden if I had the money.

the days of buying houses for cheap and selling them for profit are long gone.

  • I'd rather people buy from this guy at a (slightly) discounted price than walk into Harvey Norman and get stung more.

If people aren't willing to do their due diligence on the current/all time low price of these items then that's on them.

    • I'd rather people buy from this guy at a (slightly) discounted price than walk into Harvey Norman and get stung more.

How does that work? This guy is selling it for more than HN is selling it for otherwise what would be the point because there'd be no profit…? And either way, HN still make sales and therefore make money.

If part of your point is to boycott HN, what this guy is doing isn't really helping with that.

From what I saw his prices seem to be slightly higher than the OzB deals but less than retail.

He's selling a Nest 2nd gen for $65 but HN have it for $78
Similarly Airpods 3rd gen $230 but HN $289

Yes, because that's how he makes a profit doing this.

The point is, even if people don't go to HN and go through this guy, he has already bought these items from HN and they've still made a sale…. it does nothing to prevent HN from "stinging" people because HN has already made the sale.

If anything, if a sale is on and people go to HN instead of this guy, they're actually saving money.

@Ghost47: You make good points - I'm willing to admit I am incorrect in this scenario.

            • @SnowDragon: Have an upvote for being able to admit you're incorrect, not many people are able to do that these days.

It sounds like the guy a few months ago who was asking how to get lots of JB hi-fi cards as he was buying high volumes to sell.

  • Who?

  • No, I am Spartacus

  • I’m Spartacus!
