Tenda Nova MW5C Mesh Wi-Fi 2-Pack $49.28 Delivered @ Tenda via eBay AU

280

I paid $64 for 2-pack from last deal and noticed the price is $2.4 cheaper down to $61.6(23% off original price).

I'm not sure how long the price will last.

Unfortunately 3-pack is not on special this time, still $129 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/392864928239?epid=11040398064&ha…

Don't forget to try to combine other ebay discounts/cashback.

Enjoy.

  • I first looked at the picture and thought it’s about rubbish bins!

    • Haha

    • I first looked at the title and thought it’s about Tenga. 😈

There's an extra 20% off in cart, bringing it down to only $50. "Almost gone" though.

  • These are only ok there repeating of wifi drops off about 40 % ive been useing the 3 pack for 1 year and wouldn't buy again way to much loss over a a small clear area .

I've got these on nbn 50 and have 3 units and I can get max speed everywhere in the house. Only about a 15m run between the main and the longest unit but work perfectly with no drop outs in my use case.
Not sure how they would go if you have faster nbn.

Using a 2 unit setup in a 550m² house for the last 2 years. Excellent speed everywhere, no dropouts. Always get 80Mbps+ every where in the house on a NBN100 plan.

I have the three pack and just bought this two pack, thanks OP. Great bargain! I have found these to be excellent. I have had no issues with dropouts. We live in a concrete walled apartment and these little babies happily send a signal downstairs from the second level down to the basement/garage where I have a Zwift setup. Getting 50-60mb download speed down in the basement. Great value for money.

Thanks for this. I've picked up a 2 pack for our 120m2 townhouse

  • How do these compare to the TP-Link Deco E4? Whenever I lose my NBN connection, the ethernet ports on this stop working.

  • These reserve the 5ghz band for backhaul therefore most devices will only connect at 2.4ghz. They were generally stable for me but slow overall. For a simple home internet setup they are fine. I used 8 of the Tenda nodes in mesh covering 100 wifi devices and it worked though speeds were around 10-20mbps. Also if you have problems with upload speeds use another router and the Tenda nodes in bridge mode

    • 100 devices? Was this somewhere other than your home?

      • Large family with multiple devices?

      • In a big house with lots of wifi IOT devices the numbers can get up there.

Through if hitting triple digits going with wifi IOT devices the 2.4ghz band would be a noise nightmare.

      • Largish family home with lots of IoT devices. 8 air cons, 5 air purifiers, 3 vacuums, lots of lights, 10+ google nest/hubs, 7 cameras, etc.

    • So it the 5Ghz is reserved for backhaul, does it mean you won't be able to connect on 5Ghz? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, but I can't understand why in 2022 a router would only allow 2.4 connections.

  • Update the price OP, its actually $49.28

    • How do u bring it down the extra 12$

  • OOS already!

  • Anyone got a mesh recommendation for something slightly better (and presumably more expensive) than Tenda?

This deal was a great price, but I'm not sold on Tenda. I've got a current Tenda install based on a mix of MW3 and MW6's, but the uplink limits, slow processors, poor security and occasional dropouts have me seeking an upgrade for a modest single level 4 bedroom house. I don't need top-tier ping times for breakneck gaming, but there is often multiple devices streaming at once.

Any bang for buck recommendations? Ideally would like sub-$500 for a 3 unit mesh setup.

Buy right and buy once. I learnt the hard way and wasted hundreds on inadequate setups. Unifi Dream Router can be had for around $450 or less and a U6 lite access point can be had for around $160. Fully scalable setup to as more access points as needed. The access points can run with wired or wireless (mesh) backhaul. Has app and browser support which is great.

      • 100%. I've actually got a pair of Ubiquiti UniFi U6 Pro Wireless Access Points sitting in a box, intimidating me to get around to installing them to beam my internet signal across the road to a propoerty 30m away. Unfortunately, I'm no network engineer, hence why they are still in the box - and my preference for an idiot-proof mesh system, otherwise any APs could sit unused for as long as the current pair.

Haven't looked into the Dream Router. Does it serve as the Router and initial AP and subsequent U6 lites create a mesh via additional APs? Any idea whether it would play nicely with the two existing APs?

        • +1

Yep, UDR is a wifi router with built in POE. Technically speaking you should use a POE+ injector with the U6 pro but I have mine running direct from the UDR. It is plug and play. No fancy settings needed unless you want to. As easy to set up as any other mesh wifi. As long as your APs are in wifi range or directly plugged into ethernet then the UDR will auto detect.
The nice thing about Unifi is that the software is completely configurable. E.g. Want to force a device to connect to a specific AP? Then create a dedicated SSID for that AP e.g. KitchenWifi.
Want it to auto handover to whatever AP is best? Then create a SSID that goes across all APs. Want to force 5ghz or 2.4ghz? Create separate SSID for each.

You can run other non Unifi APs in bridge mode e.g. an old ISP router and simply plug into the UDR to create an extended wifi network. But since it is non Unifi you need to manually set up SSID and disable DHCP.

Having said that, the Unifi stuff isn't bug free but they invest in regular updates. I'm no fan boy but it's probably the best off the shelf option to step up into a more robust and configurable setup.

Very happy with my 4 pack MW6 without any issues but I use in bridge mode.

      • Yeah, the MW6's are a cut above either the MW3's or the MW5's in this deal, but still perform and rate significant;y worse than other (admittedly more expensive options)..

Let me know if you'd like to add a couple MW6's or MW3's to your collection to help the neighbours out with their connectivity as well…

        😉

  • Damn, missed it :(

  • Had to throw them out 1mbps upload but 15-20 on Ethernet or a different router
