This offer just about halves the previous best (on a "per camera" basis): see here

This is a 4-pack of the basic wifi Tp-Link Tapo C100 (works out to $13.90 per camera).
And there is 11% discount if buy more than one pack (works out to $12.40 per camera).

[Edit: Good comment by @plasmapuff below… look at the "buying options" / "other sellers" sections on the Amazon page for alternate stores, and look at the PCLive seller (AU), as the Amazon UK ones will come with UK plugs (the Harris Technology option is OOS)]

This is a no frills camera (but with decent HD video), without cloud storage.
It comes with a simple app.

But the best bit… it is accessible via RSTP.
This means you can connect via VLC / NVRs, and there is an integration for Home Assistant.

These are coming via Amazon UK, so will not likely get here before Christmas.

I paid a couple of bucks extra to get it from Harris Techonology, but they only have a couple of packs left.

[Edit: Never mind… appears in CamelCamelCamel that these four packs have been at a good price for a while… but still - I think this deal is very good value]

[Edit: And here is some sample footage])

Awesome, I already bought 2 of these for around $30-$40 per camera.

Glad to have 4 more now for cheap!

    • How do you provide power to them. Sorry i have no ideas about cameras.

      • The tplink website says they come with a 3m power cable. No poe here..but for $15 each lol, makes sense.

      • -1

I got two of them, came with a standard micro-USB cable and a tiny charger (yeah, a long cable as mentioned above). The video quality is decent and no lag at streaming. So good to keep an eye on kids in the living room, study etc.

        • But, Tapo C100, going by one YouTube unboxing from the UK, and some cursory Googling, indications pointing to it not being USB anything! Seems it is 9V (not the most common in security cameras), a barrel connector, and it was the reason I put this non-existent 4-pack (from Amazon UK) back on the shelf.

      • 9VDC Adapter. Refer Specification

  • oos?

  • +2

Need to change seller to Amazon UK, direct link seems to go to Harris Technology which I had trouble purchasing from.

  • So is there a way to record without using home assistant? As in could this substitute for a camera system with dvr?

    • +1

I haven't tried, but according to their FAQ you can connect your NVR to these cameras via RSTP/ONVIF, so then yes, would not need Home Assistant.

    • +2

Check out Blueiris, if these work with that, its awesome software, well worth the $70 or so for a license

  • Trying to find sample videos on YouTube but the quality seems ……. interesting.

  • +1

Does this need a lithium battery to work? Product description says lithium battery required (not sure it it is provided in the box).

  • +11

Worth an extra $2 to get it from the alternate seller PCLive which looks like an Australian seller. Previous reviews have stated UK suppliers will supply a UK plug so you'll need an adaptor.

  • Any third-party free software available for these cam to do a long term (30days) time-lapse ? Would like to shot on growing plants.

    • Any that can accept RTSP stream

      • -1

Tapo cameras are crap for RTSP though. Really doesn't function properly.

        • +1

Can you substantiate that? Crap how?

I've been using streaming HD RTSP with several simultaneous clients per camera for months and I haven't had a single drop or reboot required.

          • +1

@String name: Just received mine. Clicked on the link, paid but only received one not 4.

          • @String name: What model do you have?

Do you pay for tapo care and do you also write to sd card?

            • @watwatwat: C200 and no cloud, or no internet, or SD card installed.

Have mine streaming exclusively without issues!

              • @String name: Well well well. That is a pretty misleading comment to make about RTSP, isn't it?

It works well for you but you neglected to mention that you don't enable the most basic features of the camera. I'm sure there is more processing power to dedicate to RTSP functionality when you disable all the basic things that a security camera is supposed to do.

                • @watwatwat:

It works well for you but you neglected to mention that you don't enable the most basic features

What are you even talking about?

    • +1

      Doesn't tapo have an app?

  • Is there a way for these to work offline? (No internet)

    • If you set these up via RSTP/ONVIF (and use viewers like VLC / HomeAssistant / NVR on your local network) then you can stop them (via your firewall) from connecting to the internet and they will continue working.

    • I'm wondering the same

    • I've run my Tapo C200's offline for months. Just set them up with the app first.

      • Could you expand on this? I’m very curious and struggling to make it work

        • There are a couple of angles where it might not be working. You might need to be more specific.

After setting them up in app you need to set a password or else you cannot use RTSP.
From there I register the RTSP feed with any NVR (I am using Frigate which is free and OSS)

For blocking them, I have them on a virtual WiFi interface that is automatically VLAN tagged (tag 80 for subnet 192.168.80.0/24) and on my firewall, I have blocked traffic from that tag out to WAN.

    • Yeah they work fine if you block all outbound ports in your router, after setting up via the app. Features like motion detection don't work though (because they can't send a notification to the app via their web servers). But browsing recorded videos and viewing live work fine in the app when you're connected to your network.

If you want to make sure time works correctly on them, then allow NTP outbound (UDP port 123).

I feel like this is a listing error - other than the title there's no other indication that this is the 4 pack, the regular single camera is usually priced at around $55.

The alternative sellers Harris Tech and PCLive usually stock the single pack around these prices and there's no indication of their being a clearance.

I'd say there's a good chance of getting 1 instead of 4 cameras.

    • Similar to nanoleaf lights, you can get UK imported tiles for about 1/3 of the cost you buy them here. So hopefully this is similar?

    • Hmm. Good point. What to do…

    • +2

https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Tapo-Security-Required-C100… yeah if you check the UK listing it's clear it's a single one…

haha I actually put in and cancelled my order maybe I should put one in and see what happens

    • +2

Well the Harris Technology order showed as next day delivery … so I will report back tomorrow on whether this is a price error.

    • +1

I'd say there's a good chance of getting 1 instead of 4 cameras.

I agree. So seems like order will get cancelled or you receive one camera.

  • +3

    Buy first think later.

  • +3

Order cancelled already from pclive seller

    • +1

      Most likely pricing errors

    • Same; reordered from UK

      • +1

You'll likely only get one… see other comments here. Just cancelled my order, seems like yet another Amazon listing error.

  • Tapo.tapo.. Tapo flavoured kisses 👌

  • +3

This is definitely a single pack and not a 4 pack.

    • I wonder… because looks like there is such a thing as a four pack…

on the PCLive site directly (though that shows up as $215)

Should find out tomorrow and will update the post

  • +2

I ordered 4 pack from Amazon. It’s already shipped. I will let you know if it’s 4 pack and worth the trouble.

    • +1

Shipped inside an hour of ordering from UK, yeah doubt it, 4ish in the morning….

      • I don’t know where uk came from. I order from my Amazon app which is set to au. Never bought anything from Amazon uk.

        • +2

@search It's shipped from Amazon UK via International Shipping
Unless you ordered a 1 pack from AU

          • @Empharand: Thanks @James D. My delivery note says Harris Technology for vendor name. I’m guessing that’s from Australia. We’ll see when and what arrives. Doesn’t matter from where if I receive 4-pack 🤗

            • +1

@search: Received my tplink camera. It was single camera inspecting from the enclosure box. I will ask for refund, promptly.

  • +3

100% it’ll be the single camera based on price alone it’s consistent with everywhere else, also the listing and photos do not corroborate 4 cameras at all.
    Especially the contents/BOM

    See camels history for it:
    https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B083GGLKSJ

Best price was $32, but it’s always been this price.
If you complain Amazon will let you refund, but seems like a lot of hassle.

  • +2

Bought one from Amazon UK, but in my previous experience they never honor any price error so I am expecting a cancellation email coming soon.

    • +1

Yeah, I find the UK the worst to deal with between AU, US and them.

Also much much slower. Often sit on orders for many days before shipping too.

    • …or they just send you one which you'd then have to return (would probably count as another return on your account too).

      • Why what's wrong with returns?

        • Returning too many items can get you banned - perhaps only an issue if it's too often, like in a certain period of time. Yes it's Amazon's fault about the error, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference in their system.

          • @MiscOzB: This. It's really really not worth it.

No way you'd wanna lose access to the best site on the internet.

            • @scuderiarmani: Why would you lose access to ozbargain?

Jokes aside, Amazon is a pretty terrible website. I can't fathom why it's as popular as it is.

              • @tazmaniak: Well, there's always gonna be 1 who has an opinion different to most. Congrats.

Number 2 in the world, but yeah overrated.

          • @MiscOzB: Have you got a link or personal experience with this supposed banning? I’ve returned (I just counted) 16 different video games to Amazon this year for a full refund, among other faulty random items, probably 20 returns all up, and my account is still going strong. Curious to learn more about it!

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: If you google about it you'll see multiple articles and posts, such as on Reddit and there's even been OzBargain posts, for example.

            • @[Deactivated]: 16 games, like in a EB rent free situation?

People like you should be banned.

  • Are these for internal or external ? Thanks

  • +3

This is likely a price-error, very doubtful TP-Link are generous enough to offer a 4 pack @ $13.90 per camera while everyone else on other platforms including TP-Link themselves are offering single cameras for $50+

And considering this was $48.14 in November that would make it $12.03 per camera, further supporting the notation that it's indeed not a 4 pack.

Can't explain how this oversight happened considering they changed the title of the listing and not the price itself, but yeah my money is on it being a price error.
I really hope for everyone's sake that it isn't a price error though as it would be a great deal.

At the very least if it does become a price error order cancellation you may be able to seek a good-will credit from Amazon for the stuff up, usually they give $5-$10 but it's better then nothing.

  • So… what is the plan to power 4 cameras with 4 UK plugs….

  • +2

    Thanks op… didn’t need one so ordered2 x 4-packs

  • What's the difference between the C100 and the C200?

    • +12

      100

      • +5

        It's actually C100.

For it to be 100 you would have to assume that C=1, but we don't know the value of C.

    • +2

My c200 is a piece of junk, but it technically just does the job so I've kept it.

Opening the camera view via app can take close to 30 seconds, 1 minute, sometimes longer.

RTSP view is a scam because it cuts out after a few minutes. After troubleshooting with TP-Link, I think we concluded that the hardware is cheap thus it is expected to not be reliable.

Also I can technically open this camera view with my chromecast. It opens for about 10 seconds and then kills the connection.

So… I really just use it mostly as a storage to SD card in case something bad happens and I need to check footage, or if I want to see a live view and I am willing to wait a long time for it to load.

      • I've not had any connection issues with my C200 cameras. I get a connection within seconds over wifi or cellular. Also had fewer drop out issues compared with similar Swann and Foscam IP cameras

        • Also I just wanted to note that another thing I hate is that you need to buy tapo premium to even get thumbnail view of events.

Without paying, the actual interface to view footage on the camera is terrible and thus I try not to use it.

          • +1

@watwatwat: True. I only use mine for recording and live view. I have a few of the Eufy pan & tilt cameras and they work brilliantly.

    • These c100 ones are for fixed camera angles whereas the C200 can pan and tilt as far as i can gather. I have the c210 which has added resolution of 1296p instead of the 1080p of the c100/c200.

Sigh was hoping this to go OOS quickly so I didn't have to buy.

    Bought one now :(

    • And you’ll get one not 4.

  • Can i use these for my toddlers room and play area? i just install and plug them in and operate it from the app? I am assuming i will need an sd card for recording.

    • Yes, yes, yes.

  • +8

it's a single pack. read the details section. you're only creating yourself the task of sending it back for a refund.

  • +1

    Bought one anyways.

  • +3

Video quality is horrible for 2022

    • what is a good one?

  • +2

The Item Model number should say "Tapo C100 4 PACK" not "Tapo C100" OR should state its a "4PACK" under "Size" but neither have been provided. The reviews also seem to suggest its singular camera and not plural. ASIN number also only yields single camera results, confirmed through CAMELx3 as the singular pack based on title. Very high chance its a 1pack, but nonetheless, good luck to those that have ordered.

  • +6

this is the response from Amazon support "As confirmed by the team, the title is incorrect and will contain 1 camera. Not 4 pack. Also, as per the recent update, it seems Amazon UK is unable to fulfill this order."
