Hi guys, first post on OZBargain !

Looks like Dell dropped its price for all Alienware Laptop and desktop without needing a code.

eg: x14 32g 1TB 3060 dropped from 3998 to 3213, and you can stack the 20% off code to get even cheaper.

guess the new model is coming up in next few weeks with 13th gen CPU and 40 series GPU

So expensive for the specs it gives

    • +4

Yep, that's alienware for you. Junk IMO.

  • +6

Much better deal on the legion with the 3070ti

  • +8

What a crap price when 3060 laptops go for well below half that. The chassis made of diamonds or something?

  • +10

Get a Legion and 3070, 3070ti over this overpriced junk…

    • -1

      Junk? Somebodys moody

      • +1

I can see where the hate towards Alienware comes from. Their pre-built desktop are terrible and the low end Alienware (m15 and m17) are typically just the low end G-Series gaming laptops in an Alienware themed chassis with a price mark up.
However, at the top end (x14, x15 and x17) they’re still premium quality machines that actually deserve the once prestigious Alienware title

        • +5

No hate to alienware at all from me, I actually had a good look at them and they have had some decent deals, I just don't think this particular deal stacks up price to performance wise.
Perhaps the word junk is a bit harsh, the price is certainly junk in my opinion for what you're getting here.

        • +2

          once prestigious Alienware title

I've been buying PCs since prior to the alienware brand and i don't recall a time when alienware was ever prestigious, it was always mediocre and overpriced as far as i can recall.

In fact, i'd be surprised if it wasn't part of the wave of "cool" PC gimmicks marketed to teenagers that eventually led to the current glass cases and RGB gamer fashion, which don't (and never did) imply build quality.

          • +2

@ssfps: Perhaps “prestigious” is overselling it. I believe they were always overpriced but high quality, as far as prebuilts go anyway.

            • @FireRunner: Fair enough. I agree that I would trust an alienware laptop slightly more than a clevo given my experience with dell prebuilt PCs. Still, not enough to justify this price (by a good margin) IMO.

      • +2

Junk relative to the price. 3060 for over $3k is absolutely nuts…
If it was a 3070ti at this price I'd be more supportive

  • +7

First post and you come out with an Alienware Laptop twice the price it should be?

    • -5

      that is what she said

    • +1

OP knows very well that this is not a deal but to mention "first post" to avoid negs

  • +3

Jesus, i picked up that kraken 3060 deal for $1199 and alienwares out here like low low price of $3292, bargain! 🤣

    • Does Kraken or Intel NUC have global warranty?

      • I dont believe so! But i could be wrong as i haven't looked into it but assumed they wouldn't.

    • How do find the Kraken laptop so far :)

      • Very good! With a laptop stand the gpu is running at 80 degrees but under max load, haven't bothered with undervolting as it hasnt been super hot and i use an external mouse and keyboard. Runs most games on high/ultra with good frames(although i mostly play world of warcraft and league of legends). All up was $1300 with extra ram and ssd so definitely seems like a steal with the other laptop deals i have seen.

  • +6

Hard pass although don’t want to destroy the first-time poster’s confidence.

    Soft pass.

  • -6

Is it just me or are all these invalid negs? I don't think "issue with product" includes "oh I just don't like how they price it" or it would be open season on every iPhone post.

I do agree the pricing is dumb, but that's a "top end" product for you. Apple products, surfaces, etc

    • +5

Top end? With that specs? You kidding?

      • Top end brand/positioning.

See guidelines. Which one are people negging based on?

"The deal is not the cheapest available" for equivalent specs.

          "Issue with retailer" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go5tLO6ipxw

          • @OZKap:

"The deal is not the cheapest available" for equivalent specs.

That's not valid and you know it. Otherwise we can neg every Samsung and iPhone post. And I could probably find a junk Chinese no brand laptop to neg pretty much every laptop post.

Ok if you want to neg every Dell deal sure. Same goes for Amazon. I'm also not sure how "Get a Legion and 3070, 3070ti over this overpriced junk…" translates into "the store scams people"…but my English is a bit rusty.

So who's up next for failing to justify the negs?

            • +1

@incipient: Samsung and Apple have their own OS and app store for which there is no equivalent with another brand.

Would you say "same specs are cheaper elsewhere" is an invalid neg for a pre-built PC?

              • -2

@OZKap: Alienware are designed and built a bit better than a lot of cheaper laptops though. That said I would go a legion too.

              • @OZKap: Yeah I agree an oppo can't be compared to a Samsung. You're the one saying an alienware can be compared to a lenovo.

Would you say "same specs are cheaper elsewhere" is an invalid neg for a pre-built PC?

If it was part for part identical, then yeah argue it's the same. But this isn't a rebuilt with off the shelf components. So your point doesn't hold.

            • +2

@incipient: The deal is not the cheapest available for equivalent specs with another comparable product.

There has been far better Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7 deals with far better specs cheaper or similar price.

I don't care about Dell scamming people, never said that. Unless you need the alienware name your money is far better spent elsewhere hence I don't think this is a good deal

              • @cook99: But, that's still not a valid reason for a neg…

                • +1

@incipient: We can agree to disagree…

Based on the amount of negs to pos, I'd suggest I'm not alone

    • I agree, comments looking at just the CPU and GPU model aren’t making a fair comparison.
It’s a premium build, despite some comments saying otherwise. The 14” form factor means that it needs to be compared against other laptops in that league, Razer Blade 14 and Asus ROG G14 come to mind.
Laptops in this form factor typically command a price premium.
These sort of laptops don’t appeal to the most of the ozbargain community since value is not good.
However to those who it appeals to, it may be worth the price difference. I still don’t think this price is good for what it is. Id say around $2000 would be considered bargain worthy

  • +1

Terrible deal should be priced less than half of that

  • +1

is this 3x more powerful than hn's hp victus 3060 laptop?

    • Let me know if you worked out how to undervolt this in omen gaming hub

      • just wanted to know if its worth paying 3k to play games i can play on the hp victus.

  • +2

    Not for a 3060

  • +4

Even at full 140W TDP it is not worth it with such exorbitant price. You literally are paying for the brand itself for an extra of $700-800. Not a deal imo.

  • +2

@Muzeeb mistakenly added a 3 at the front
    Should be $292.30
Please fix price so we can buy buy buy 😏

    • Best is $329.23

      • I’ll take two dozen

      • Ill take 100. Need to compete with @broden

  • +2

Not a deal at all. We can find rtx3070 laotop about $1800, and rtx3060 should be around $1000, even it's an AW.

    • 3060 is more like $1200

    • Where do you find 3060 laptop at $1000? And more importantly why didn’t you post it!!

  • -2

Most of the comments aren’t fair. Sure you can buy a 3060 laptop for much less than this but it’s in a premium design, 14” form factor.
If you want best price to performance then 14” isn’t for you. This is for those wanting a portable beast. You will be leaving some performance on the table and will have to be prepared to pay for it but it appeals to certain people (typically not the ozbargain crowd). Those who want it around $1000 are dreamin’
However I do agree that at this price, it’s far from a bargain. I’d say around $2000 would be bargain worthy

  • -2

It is the brand and the quality you are buying for.

    • Show us your receipt then?

    • +2

I guess you have never owned a Dell/Alienware based on that comment.

      • -4

If you cannot afford, there is still no need to be an Alienware hater.

        • +1

I dont think thats their arguement.
Its that alienware isn't as great or as high-end as you are making it to be.
The OP will win some and lose some.
This isnt the best first post but nor was mine. I still have a dud every now and then .
Also have to remember this community are always after best bang for buck.

  • What 20% off code it's stackable with (mentioned in the post)?

  • +1

Sorry op, but this is a terrible price for the given specs. Especially so if you consider the depreciation cost for such electronics.
$3.3k for this is a joke & i hope you did not get one at this price.

  • Sorry OP but this is not a good deal. Please do more research before posting. You can get a Razer Blade with a 3070ti for $2999. The RAM might be less, but the rest of the specs are essentially better and it's not even a deal.

Also, that Intel 12700h has a max TDP of 115w, so it will throttle in a 14" chassis and effect battery life significantly.

  • 1499 at most. This isnt a bargin. this is not a deal. This has to be a joke.

    • 1499 at most. This isnt a bargin

      Agreed.
Bargin: refers to the act of enloping with a lady who has the same expectations about the relationship as you

  • Gigabyte deal might be better value

  • What is the 20% code you were referring to?

  • Rubbish mate you’re dreaming

  • Compare to this Razer deal, this one is not a bargain at all.
Same premium brand, same 14" form factor, better GPU

  • I noticed this the other day. I've been researching a new 17" gaming laptop/desktop replacement, and the x17 was on the top of my list. This week the spec I was considering is about $1000 cheaper than last week.

Reason I've been looking at Alienware this round: my last Metabox laptop was cheap (for spec), super powerful, loved it mostly, but sounds like a jet engine at even low loads. X17 looks to have much better thermals. Still considering if its worth the still hefty price increase on the competition though.

Would have grabbed the Legion 7i if it was 17".

  • Is there a 20% off discount code for Boxing Day 22?
