I think it might be a ok deal.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) 8GB WiFi, free shipping $339 with coupon code "tyv10".
The Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) is a successor to the first brand name Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab. Screenwise it has a 7-inch 1024x600 pixels LCD display with Samsung's Plane-to-Line-Switching (PLS) technology, which allows for better power efficiency, yet from a brighter panel. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. A 3MP fixed focus camera on the back takes care of the photo and video tasks, while a VGA front-facing cam will help you video chat.

Massive 'Australia Tax' on the new Samsung Tabs. The 'Tab 2' is supposed to be the budget line, with this tab in particular retailing at USD$250. Absolutely no excuse for this $100, or 40%, retail markup. In addition: the 7.7 has a better processor, better screen (AMOLED) better resolution, better front facing camera, better battery; you'd probably be better off buying that (on special, of course, this is Ozbargain, after all), rather than this overpriced POS. Only notable features on the Tab 2 7.0, IMO, is the IR blaster and ICS.
As other have said, the Nexus 7 and Asus TF300T are also better alternatives, for not much more, if not less, than this price.

    • Actually, it's not 40% retail markup, since the $250 US is a retail price already. It's much-much worse.
It's 40% on top of the original price+margin…how bad is that? :(

Both the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab 7.7 are superior to this device and the former's significantly better value.

    • agree 100% - this is not a bargain

    • 200%…

The nexus will rip this up for less.

  • Not even a Quad Core. $199 would be more like it. Wait till end of this month. It may happen.

It won't reach $199. Nexus Tab is selling at minimal if any profits apparently. If this reaches $250, it will still be a respectable deal. Quad core isn't everything. Some dual core like the samsung chips are darn near close to the tegra chips.

      • Nexus 7 is selling at minimal profit to Google (who get money in other ways). You can bet Asus is still getting their cut, though. I fully expect other manufacturers to match the N7's pricing, at least online.

      • The thing is that both Galaxy Tab and Nexus 7 are both 7 inch display but Google has 4.1 jelly bean installed and always has latest OS updates compare to Samsung's slower release of their updates. I think it is not hard to understand $249 for galaxy (if they reach that price point) is a bit pricy.
