    I just bought a $150 Amazon Gift card 15 minutes ago :/

    • +2

Maybe hop on livechat and ask if they can give you the promo credit on your account? Sometimes they're pretty helpful for me

      • Yea, wouldn’t be surprised honestly. Luckily I did buy it through this deal:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/744764

Sooo I still got 5% off. $10 would have been slightly better but meh, as ironic as the timing was… It wasn’t really that big of a difference hehe

    • +1

Why would you buy a gc without any bonus/discount?

      • Got 5% off during the final minutes of the deal I posted in my latest reply

        • +6

The 5% is better than the 6.25% because:
          1. The 5% isn't capped at $10
          2. The entire amount is eligible for cashback/refund/etc. A purchase that includes part payment in promo credits isn't eligible for cashback, and refund will downgrade the entire amount into promo credits.

          • @jkim:

refund will downgrade the entire amount into promo credits.

Just to clarify, you mean that if you refund a purchase which was partially paid in promo credits, you only get the amount you paid back, and lose the promo credits.

(or at least that's been my experience)

            • @jace88: I'm not sure actually. I just remember that I used mixed tender for a purchase I recently refunded, and they refunded the entire amount as the lower tender type (credit card > giftcard > promo credits).

Forgot to add another drawback of promo credits - can't spend when seller isn't AmazonAU.

          • @jkim: That's true, but in my situation where I was regardless buying a $150 gift card, the 6.25% works out better.

But that's a good point for anyone else thinking they missed a good deal

  • +22

    6.25% off ($160 value for $150)

    • +4

      Not great not even 10%

  • +13

Woo to the Young to the Woo

Dong to the Geu to the Ra-mi!

      • +2

Thank you. That took much longer than I thought.

        • True friends are rare I guess, either that or people are missing an amazing K-Drama but I digress :P. Happy Holidays friend. :)

  • +5

Anyone got it working? Says promo can't be applied ($150 eGC).

    Might be targeted?

    • -1

      Same here

  • Strange discount value - I feel like they are gathering market data - what percentage of users will go for what discount level when a coupon code is required?

    • +1

Recession is coming. People with giftcard will be able to spend money.

      • +1

Fair point… there is a temptation to spend gift cards.

    • +1

Amazon are always gathering market data whether you purchase a GC or not :)

  • It doesn't say limited to new customers only, just one promotional credit per customer. I didn't read the fine print with a prior one that was limited to new customers and I was wondering why I didn't get the $10.

  • +3

    Paid at 00:05
    Received gift card at 00:10
    Received promo credit at 00:21
    Thanks

  • +3

I see "Qualifying offers: GC promotion" at checkout. But not going ahead as it's not much benefit for the spend.

  • +1

I'm finding prices on the stuff I used to buy at Amazon are no longer as competitive at the same time a lot of these Amazon gift card promos have been happening.

  • +1

I got an error, gift card can’t be applied

    • Did you use the app or website? For this type of promo from Amazon, it’s best to use the desktop version of the website as you can see at checkout if you’ve previously applied the code before

      See this screenhot

      • On the app. I’ve definitely not used the code before. Not this year anyway

  • doesnt work - maybe exhausted alr? I used the desktop version of the site

  • I forgot to enter the code at the checkout so I contacted support via live chat and they issued me a $12 promo credit, nice little bonus

    • +2

      It’s like dumb and dumber

      • +1

        Fair

  • +2

No go - tried app, mobile browser, desktop - “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.”

  • +1

    Thanks

  • -1

Just waste of time. It does not work. Contacted support, more waste of time. Amazon Crappy system and misleading customer. Just wasted more than 45 minutes for 10$ 😀also due to crappy support as usual

    • Just wasted more than 45 minutes for 10$

Well, it’s better than wasting 45 minutes for nothing. But in principle I heartily agree — every second is precious

    • +1

      Worked for me.
      Maybe Amazon hates you.
      Like, personally.

      • Or you see the time i tried to use and you used it…it was around 12:30am so as usual they misleaded the customer and maybe activated the code later than they should…in the morning so it worked for you…you can see many complaining it was not working around that time…they don't care anyways

  • +2

Thanks! It seems applied.. and got the confirmation email that I got the $10 credit.

  • +1

    0218 ordered
    0219 gift card received
    0220 benefit confirmation :)

    • +3

You could have included the seconds

  • +3

i applied the promocode and it stayed blank, went ahead and still received the$10 credit in about 10 mins, thanks OP

    • Same. Screen said promo code applied though, so I bought it anyway, and got my $10 credit about 17 minutes after ordering.

  • +1

I got a $150 Amazon Gift Card and got my $10 Promo Credit Notification. Cheers OP!

  • Bought use phone app, received bonus email shortly after gift card email.

  • +2

    Cannot apply

    • It’s for purchasing Amazon giftcard including digital that worth equal or more than $150 ONLY!
      Not for other items.

If you are doing the same check right hand side of this screenshot which indicates that you’ve input this now/before.

      Mine has gone through,
      Order placed 0735
      Giftcard delivery 0736
      Benefit confirmed 0737

    • +1

Live chat mate gave me $10 credit

  • +1

The promotional code you have entered cannot be used for your purchase (which was 3 x $50 gift cards).

  • +1

    Promo applied :) thx op

  • +1

I tried putting in the code twice but 2nd time I get this message "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase." tried refreshing etc the cart so unsure if it is just a message from putting it in twice or it is no longer available.

    • +4

If you’re on a desktop version, you can see on the right of this screenshot that it’ll say “Qualifying offers: GC promotion”

Tbh it’s a silly system that Amazon has that doesn’t allow you to enter the code twice if you have entered it previously

      • +1

Thank you, I see it now and just put through the order with more confidence!

      • +1

        Thanks, this had me stumped

      • +1

Thank you! Almost gave up on buying because of this confusing error..

    • +1

I did the same thing (albeit on iPhone) but also noticed after the second time, despite the error message “Amazon GC Promotion applied” had appeared under the gift card in the checkout, as OP had advised - it’s small text and easy to miss

  • +3

Heads up to anyone using the app: if you enter the code and nothing seems to happen, then try enter the code again. If you receive "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase" error message then that means the code is already applied to your purchase and you're good to go.

I'm not sure why checking out via the app offers such limited info compared to desktop.

    • Exactly this is what happened. Bug with the system which waste customer's time..anyways why would they bother to care…just interested to increase profit

Haven't people got enough at Aldi last time?

Amazon gift cards are like sex — once you’re spent, it isn’t very long before you feel the urge to get some more

    • You sure have by the sounds of it

  • +3

    Thanks, got one just now.

As mentioned above, the easiest way is to do it on desktop, and then after you enter the code look for:

    Qualifying offers:

    • GC promotion

under Order Summary on the right.

  • Getting worse the deal used to be $100 get $10 this year $150? Inflation much?

    • +1

When I was a little girl, education was free! Unbelievable, I know. Rumour has it that if you came to this country very, very early, you got a whole bunch of land for free, too. The trend is clear — don’t delay, or you will pay

  • +1

Promo credit means no cashback fyi

    • 99% of the things I purchase from Amazon are ineligible for cashvack anyways.

  • +1

not sure what im missing but $10 on 150 can't see the massive appeal?

    • +2

Its called stacking! Amazon can often be very cheap or the cheapest for certain items, and then getting another 6.25% off….well…..it's a win win. And then free delivery.

  • +1

thanks OP, grabbed one :) been eyeing something for christmas and even this little bit ($10) will help!

  • I bought 4 GC but only received the $10 on the first.

    • This Offer is limited to one promotional credit per customer and Amazon.com.au account

      • well that’s what I get for being a smart arse.

  • +1

Thank you. Just purchased th GC and got the $10 additional credit.

  • Just got my bunnings email for the welcome kit took 48 hrs to come through. 10 working days wait till it arrives in the mail they claim.

  • oops wrong thread.

  • where can I see the $10 promotional credit on my account? Cant see anything in the gift card section

    • +1

Find a product that is shipped and sold by Amazon AU, add it to cart and you can see a promotional credit applied

      • +1

I can see the $10 on the checkout as you mentioned. Thanks

  • +1

Cheers op, just purchased and got the $10 extra

  • +1

    Thanks OP, got my credit.

  • Purchased a physical gc yesterday. Received benefit once the order had been dispatched.

  • +1

    Cheers OP! Still Works!
