Cebu Pacific: Tokyo with Manila Stopover: 1-Way Melbourne $224, Sydney $305 / Return from $586 (Fly July-Oct) @ Beat That Flight

520

Loving seeing Japan deals now that Japan has reopened to visitors properly.

Cebu is a low cost carrier, cheap and friendly.

Stop over is in Manila airport, it's no Changi but it's worth it for the price.

Don't forget to look for hotels in Japan - we're seeing some up to 60% off

  • I’ve looked these posts a few times now and it looks like there are some great deals but I don’t really know how to book these fares.

For example, I want to travel to Tokyo next year in Sep/Oct for 10 days. I can see cheap departing flights, but how do I pair that with a cheap returning flight?

    • +1

You have to search unfortunately. I'm currently adding some cheap return flights, but I can't list every single combination of dates, eg 1 Oct to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th…., then 2 Oct to 3rd, 4th, 5th…. and so on, the posts are already long. So I'll add some as I find them, but there will be others out there!

      Eg $598 return: https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/MEL2807TYO140…

    • +2

In a few minutes I'll try and look for all the cheap one way flights back from Tokyo, so that might be of assistance. Stay tuned.

  • Thanks for sharing op will definitely be flying out then

  • As usual, nothing for Brisbane.

    • Be grateful you're not in Adelaide :/ at least Brisbane gets something once every 10 deal

      • Yep it's rough out here in Adelaide. Every time I see a Scoot deal I don't even bother checking anymore.

        • Scoot only flies to Per, Ool, SYD and Mel :/ Similarly Cebu only to Mel and SYD.

I would not touch Cebu Pacific again (or also any reseller on SkyScanner - ie BravoFly, Trip.com).

Been burnt by them before. Book a cheap flight for well into the future, a few weeks later, it is cancelled for no apparent reason and then refunds can take months and months. Often with "admin fees" you don't get it all back either.

Absolute joke! Bordering on scam material.

    • +2

I was going to ask the question, any feedback on Cebu Pacific? And your comment is my greatest fear, the long awaited build up of excitement destroyed by a random cancellation would be horrible.

      • +3

I wouldnt recommend Cebu Pacific either, not only because of possible cancellations but because they always have a changeover in Manila Airport which is possibly the worst airport Ive ever transited through. I would pay more to avoid it at all costs. But of course that was a few years ago now, things may have improved and your experiences might be better.

      • I'm the same, looking for cheap return flights to Japan. I've just read the page on Productreviews. looks like it's even worse than jetstar, i might just fork out an extra couple of hundred for a more reputable company.

      • Would you guys fly with China Airlines with stopover at Taiwan?

        • Yes easily. China Airlines is one of the higher ranked full service airlines and is Taiwans flagship. This is not to be confused with Air China which is a mainland (Guangzhou?) based airline.
China Airlines also flies the a350 between SYD and TPE direct which is quite a nice aircraft to be in.

That being said I'm not sure if you can find it that much cheaper. They tend to be relatively im the same ballpark as say Singapore Airlines or Cathay

    • Thanks for the feedback, always iffy about unknown airlines esp for big trips

    • +1

Yeah nah big no no for Cebu Pacific

    • +1

A big no to Cebu n Manila airport. even if its free, I wont transit through Manila airport. Old airport, 90% of the shops accepts only cash.
got to wait ~ 45min to 1hr in a small room for your luggage to arrive, so that they can check your bags again n load it on to ur connecting flight.

    • +1

it is cancelled for no apparent reason and then refunds can take months and months.

Also my biggest concern. If I pay by credit card. Can I chargeback right away ?

  • Anyone know why Melb airfair is often cheaper than Sydney even though a longer travel distance?

    • +1

The transit times. Melbourne is averaging 7-11hrs each trip. Sydney is 2-3hrs

    • airport taxes are different too

  • Isn't August and September the monsoon/raining period?

    • Monsoons occur more often in June/July, and in my experience it's uncomfortably hot/humid from June-ish going into August.

  • +1

Not worth it to transit through Manila airport, one of the worst airports I have ever had the displeasure of visiting.

  • -1

What about China Airlines with stopover at Taiwan?

    • Slightly more expensive, but they're a great airline to fly with.

  • Hi BTF

I am looking at the following:

    2 adults, 2 kids

Sydney to Bacolod - 23 August ($1015 for 4 tickets Cebu Pacific)
Bacolod to Tokyo - 30 September ($360 for 4 tickets Cebu Pacific)
Tokyo to Sydney - 14 October ($1630 for 4 tickets Scoot)

The first 2 flights are cheap via Cebu Pacific but the Tokyo to Sydney leg is coming up pretty expensive. Am I doing something wrong?

Direct searches on the Cebu Pacific website show no flight options to Sydney at all via Cebu Pacific from Tokyo via Manila on or around 14 October??

  • Stay away from cebupacific and keep your sanity. Most likely 80% high chance they will cancel your trip and you will be stressed because you have already booked your hotel and refund is a nightmare.
