    Tracker for Kids $49

So this can track your kids?
    Is that safe?
What if Russian hackers access it?

    • +3

This is an "Activity Tracker"… i.e. it tracks their exercise, steps taken, sleep pattern etc. It's not a tracker in the sense of "location tracking"

      • thanks for clarifying…

      • You must be new here.

    • Russian hackers are only interested in Medibank.

      • not Optus ?

LEGEND! cancelled my Amazon order and saved 10%

  • The metal contacts on the back of this touch the skin, so there may be better options for you if your kids have a nickel allergy. The Garmin equivalent kids ones don’t need to be charged for instance.

    • if your kids have a nickel allergy

      is that common ?

      • If you Google "Nickel allergy common" this shows as the first link:

"Nickel is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis: a skin rash or irritation caused by touching an allergen. In fact, it is estimated that more than 18 percent of people in North America are allergic to nickel, including 11 million children in the U.S."

Nickel is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis

I find that hard to believe…

@jv: Go argue the fact with the American Academy of Dermatology Association.

            • @KLF23: How do you know it is 'fact' ?

              • +3

@jv: I said "Go argue with … the American Academy of Dermatology Association"

                You are arguing with me.

                I didn't do the research.

                They did.

If you have alternative research showing different results, here is their email address to continue your argument:

                  They did.

                  Who funded the research?

@jv: You seem to have trouble with literacy. Sorry about that.

I looked at the Garmin ones as compared to the Fitbit Ace and the fitbit seems like a much better device.

      • Yes, I came to the same conclusion when I bought the Fitbit for my kid. It was only after they’d worn it for a while that me noticed the allergic reaction. We got around this by sticking part of a band-aid (the sticky bit, not the gauze pad) over the charging contacts. Just need to replace the band-aid after charging.

    • Is this the same in the Galaxy watch 4.? I feel itchy if wearing it all day.

      • Same with my Garmin if I wear it overnight for sleep tracking.
I think it's just something reacting with your skin, it also feels itchy after taking off the watch.
My Garmin is 5ATM water rating, so I am going to try maybe give it a bath with warm water to try remove some chemicals and see if that improves things.

  • Let's see how much Just Dance! works the kids out

  • Is this or Mi Band 6 good for kids? Thanks!

    • Mi Band 6

      • Is this from experience? I haven't tried many but found the adult watches/bands are just too big for little kid wrists.

        • +2

          Is this from experience?

I have a Mi Band 5 and it is excellent…

Recently upgraded to Mi Band 7 Pro, but I think I like the 5 better…

The 6 is better than the 5.

        • +2

watches/bands are just too big for little kid wrists.

zillions of aftermarket ones available for a few $.

I got 10 different coloured ones for $10.

        • You are asking jv for advice??

  • +1

any recommendation for a watch to track kid location using gps not lte?

    • But then you won't have the connectivity to send the location details back to you right?

    • You can rig up something with airtag to do so

      • +1

        airtag is definitely not gps.

        • if someone ask to use piegon to track kid location will you think about using better solution or keep thinking of how to use a piegeon?

      • like a .. necklace / arm band / earring / belt buckle ?

      • Any suggestions on hacking an old smartphone into a gps locator? (as a smartwatch or armband, say)

    • New Garmin Bounce might do this

      • Their website mentioned LTE connectivity I think.

Surprisingly the $10 perks coupon was still valid for me. Perfect for my kid’s christmas gift.

  • this or Inspire 2? my kid is 9yo….

  • +1

Bought two for the little ones. I was going to buy it when it was $87 yesterday.
    Thanks OP.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I was planning to buy from Myer at a price of $87 each. Now it is better price.
Yes, I did some research, the back is some alluminum or some metal else. I am wondering if we can use sticker to avoid direct contact with skin.

    • if we can use sticker to avoid direct contact with skin.

Yes you can, but then it won't track fitness…

  • good watch, using since last 6 months, not much features but battery is awsome, stays 15 days easy

  • +1

Thanks op. Bought 3 in every colour… Kids will be happy

  • +1

    Thanks
bought with perks for kid and collected 30mins later (Working next door of JB)
    Merry Christmas

  • FML… bought it last week 80 bucks, opened it. I need a shoulder to cry on

    • You can cry on my shoulder, I did the same thing.

    • Just buy this one for $49 and return it to the place where you purchased it for $80.

  • Might grab one of these just for the minion memes.

  • Is this good vs mi band 7 about 35usd from hk.
This seems to need a parent with fitbit app, and B&W small screen. While the mi is colour and full size screen.

Kids just want something to count steps I don't really know about the rest of it
