    • eSIM would be have been great for this plan. The waiting continues!!

  • +1

Awesome, glad I held out on the $250 deal. Instant tracking.

  • -5

FYI, I tested boost in Melbourne city, no signal in many underground car parks.

    • +6

And other carrier providers do have signal in these locations? Is your phone 4G or 5G? This is full Telstra network, so I am not sure your expectation is particularly reasonable.

    • +4

Yes being underground with reinforced concrete slabs above you tend to do that.

    • +1

My phone is Samsung galaxy s21+, I had no problem getting Amaysim 4G before in those areas, Boost doesnot work at all.

      • As I wrote above, all networks have black spots. Tls retail (inc Boost) has less than the competition overall but not everywhere. May have changed with new towers etc but a few years ago some locations in outer Melb above ground had good Optus and poor Tls. Nothing unusual about that.

    • +1

fyi i just tried boost for the first time.. it was a crappy experience compared to the other networks.
my bro had the same issue with his telstra plan.

might be just where we live (brissy suburbs).
but i also felt dropouts occurred much more driving around.

anyway.. was glad i just had a month prepaid.

    • +1

I have the same problem in my red room

      • +1

Tell me more about this red room…

        • +2

          Sure.

It’s red, and with bad mobile reception. What else would you like to know?

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: What is the purpose of this red room…

            • +1

@tessel: Tess, how about we arrange a time when I can provide you a personal viewing?

              • @[Deactivated]: Ok, so the purpose of the room isn't up for discussion. I can respect that. Why red?

  • -2

Hey tightarse, completely off topic but wondering if you know of any upsize cashback at Lenovo soon? Looking to pull the trigger on a laptop but wanting some additional cashback to make it more affordable..

  • +8

This was $40 cashback @ $160 ($120 out of pocket) last month . I hope we get something similar or better as a xmas/boxing day sale.

    • +4

Spreading out the savings over 12 months is only 83c per month, willing to jump on this instead of waiting/missing out again XD

    • *was then $43 cashback making it $117

  • +1

This is for new customers right I have been with boost for years and these past few have been recharges.
I tried to get a deal on the recharge for wife’s mobile back in October and even trying boost to give discount was not happening so ended up paying the $200 which ain’t to bad over the 12 months.
But it used to be regularly cheaper either through boost or from coles or Woolworths.

Mine is about a week or less and looks like I will have to fork out $200 myself.
Why do they not give something back to loyal customers who have stuck around for years.

    • I've asked Boost chat for a discount in the past, citing I've been a loyal customer for x years. They've added 20-30GB on 2 occasions
Not a direct discount but works out the same if you use your data before expiry

    • You can just port out and port back in to be classified as a new customer

      • +1

how do I port out and back in, over the next 24 hrs? Can you point me in the right direction?

        • +2

I bought like a cheap $6 Amaysim SIM card and transferred my number to them. Used it for a couple days then purchased another boost pack and ported back

        • +1

Use felix. Uses eSIM. Use a code for 30 days free while this SIM is coming

          • @rpb: Won't they charge me some $$ if I leave within that 30 days?

            • +1

@clandestino: Nah I did it last month. Ported to Felix using the code FELIX to get the first month free. Then about 27 days later ported back. I used my debit card with $1 on it to signup to Felix incase there was some delay.

              • @rpb: thanks for that!

                • @clandestino: note Felix=vodafone so check coverage first

                  • @rpb: Thanks for the suggestion mate - I'm doing the same. This way instead of losing a few days on my Boost plan I gain a few free weeks!

    • +2

Just buy this and use chat to get yr number swapped from your old sim to the new sim. I've done this the last 2 years. no dramas…

      • …but do you get the cashback ?

CashRewards T&Cs state cashback is not for recharges,
so, unsure how CashRewards will treat a new SIM purchase for the purpose of a recharge.

        • Chat doesn’t recharge. They ask you to put the new sim in and transfer your number over to the new sim.

  • Do I get 140GB data if I’m not a new customer?

    • No it’s only for your first recharge. 130gb usually I believe

  • Just got this email from Boost - must be closing up and merging the name as Telstra Prepaid??

As you may know, Boost Mobile prepaid telecommunications services are provided by our partner Telstra, who are undertaking corporate restructure. As part of the restructure, on 1 January 2023, your account and services you will be transferred internally within the Telstra group from Telstra Corporation Limited to Telstra Limited.

There will be no other changes and nothing about your account, services inclusions, or coverage will be any different. You don't need to do anything.

For more information or to get in touch with us about the change, visit boost.com.au/telstrachanges.

    • +4

No, Boost stays as it is. That notice is about Telstra's own internal restructure.

      Hi there,
The email you are referring to is detailing the fact that Telstra is changing its corporate structure and its business name from Telstra Corporation Limited to Telstra Limited.
Boost's Prepaid services are currently provided by Telstra Corporation, so we had to inform all of our customers of this change.
As a Boost Mobile customer, there is no impact on your service, inclusions, coverage or the support you receive from us.
      Regards,
      Boost Team

  • I’m already with Boost. Can I buy this for my 13yo for their first phone plan, under my name?
Greatly welcome pre-paid plan suggestions for 13yo

    • +2

Yes you can do that, but then you have to do a change of ownership come time to your son/daughter wanting that number in their own name

    • Am in the same boat (My 13yo first phone plan) and have gone with the Australia Post Mobile deal.

      • It's a low data option
      • It's $9 ish Per month for the year
      • Coverage will be decent enough for SMS and basic calls (Optus 4G Plus - Im metro Melbourne)

Your other bet is the 'Southern Phone' Mobile SIM-only plan which is similar (a little cheaper) but am unsure of company credentials and they use Optus 3G/4G.

I can't find how to turn off voicemail at Boost, only how to set it up. If I don't set it up is there no voicemail? I don't want it.

    • +3
      • Thanks, TA.

    • I've had voicemail turned off for years, but I have never been able to turn off the Message2Text service. As a results I get about 10 SMSs everyday from scammers and telemarketers that don't leave a message anyway. Anyone know if it's possible to turn off Message2Text?

  • -2

Did anyone else get the email about Boost transferring you to Telstra? From Telstra corp to Telstra Limited?

Are the days of discounted Sims over?

  • Dumb question but I’m new to ‘cash back’ concept. Does the cash back get put into a nominated bank account or is it like some accrued points system where you get to spend the points?

    • +3

It is genuine Australian dollars - that you can accumulate and then transfer in to your bank account (minimum transfer is $10.01).

Basically they're getting a referral kickback, and then splitting it with you.

It can be significant - especially on things like laptops or accommodation. Make sure you disable any ad blocking to be sure the referral is 'tracked'.

  • +3

why no deal for 12 month recharge?

  • anyone know if there's a way to pick your phone number, like amaysim let you? with specific digits/numbers?

  • -2

Never used these before, how do these plans work?

    • you buy the thing, you use it for a year, a couple of days before the end you get a message "your plan is about to expire"

      • So you get 140gb of data to use over the year? I can see why these deals get upvoted so high then, especially if you don’t consume a lot of data.

  • bargain for 5g telstra network. upset i just renewed with amaysim great service but no 5g sadly :(

  • Will roaming (to receive sms) work in countries not listed in your roaming pack list?

    Thanks.

    • It's an 'undocumented feature' so YMMV - but many have reported that VoWiFi works worldwide, so as long as you have a capable handset and can get some sort of internet connection - you should be able to receive texts.

I haven't been overseas lately, but received an SMS over Qantas WiFi in the air last month.

    • +1

Just back from US … voice and sms over wifi worked a treat including sms over inflight wifi

  • any recharge voucher for loyal customer. mine one expire today 12pm!!! lol

    • +2

Port out to felix eSIM. Use the code, I think it’s FLX but search here, to get 1 month free. Use felix while you wait for Boost SIM. Note felix is Vodafone though

    • Ours expired yesterday… already recharged 200

    • You can buy this and the contact customer service to recharge with the the new sim.

      • Do you get cashback, if you do this method?
(buy the new SIM pack, but only use it for the recharge)

        • +1

          I did, no issue

  • +1

Ohh wow their roaming is finally back!

    • Been using calls on WiFi, overseas, for free. Yay.

  • +2

Just wanting to make sure these cashback offer run until 3rd Jan.

  • +1

    So $170 with $40 CB for 140gb, or $250 with $50 CB for 260gb - decisions!!!!

    • +2

      $130 = 140GB | 1GB = $0.928

      $200 = 260GB | 1GB = $0.769

  • what hapens to the 5G after the trial? do we have to pay?

    • +2

I have a sneaking suspicion the trial will become a permanent fixture. I hope I'm right as I'm loving the speeds :)

    • Got this mail:

From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on the Boost Prepaid Mobile plan on your below service, and we'll be introducing capped download speeds on our 4G and 5G networks on most recharges.

      Here's what's changing:
      • 5G will be included as standard on the Boost Prepaid Mobile plan. To access 5G you need a compatible 5G device.
      • We are introducing capped download speeds to your 4G and 5G network access on most recharges.
      • These changes will come into effect the first time you recharge from 4 April 2023.
      • This change will not impact your voice and SMS.
What does my new capped download speed mean for me:
As all speed cap options are great for video streaming, browsing and social media, you should be able to continue doing what you usually do, and enjoy the same or similar mobile experience you do today. If you need to hot-spot multiple devices, or regularly transfer large files, you may benefit from uncapped download speeds.
Your new 5G enabled Boost Prepaid plan
Recharge Recharge Expiry Download speeds up to
      $5-$15 7 days 150Mbps
      $20-$40 28 days 150Mbps
      $50 28 days 250Mbps
      $70 28 days Uncapped
      $100 6 months 150Mbps
      $150-$300 12 months 150Mbps
Importantly the capped download speed on your recharge is the maximum potential download speed for included data. Typical speeds may often be slower and will vary due to factors including location, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination.
      What 's next?
You don't need to do a thing, and there's no change to your current recharge. Capped download speeds will take effect when you make your first recharge from 4 April 2023.

  • Has anyone tested their 5g speeds? For some reason I'm getting higher speeds on 4g sometimes

    • I just got 352/17 Mb/s.
      It's fast!

    • 750/110. Super fast

    • +1

5G will only be quicker within a certain short range, otherwise 4G will be quicker once you past some distance threshold

      • Ok ok yours is bigger than mine.
Time to get off Telstra and jump on the Boost bandwagon? I hear there's some good deals atm.

  • Recently bought the Apple Watch in the Amazon sale. Pretty disappointing to find out that only the major carriers offer eSIM cell cover, and only on post-paid plans. I've already prepaid my next 6m on Kogan mobile (which doesn't offer it).
Anyway if you want to use it for Apple Watch cell like I do then beware that you can't use any cheapo deals.

    • While you can't do Number Share on a pre-paid plan, you can use the new(ish) Family Setup for Apple Watch, with Truphone as the provider, and set your Watch up with a different prepaid phone number. It's a bit hacky, but still a workaround nonetheless.

      • Seems like it won’t work because your Apple ID needs to have just the one phone number. Sounds too hacky for my tastes anyway though.

  • Does anyone know when we will get confirmation that the Cashrewards has been tracked? I went through the Cashrewards link, and completed the purchase but I have not yet received the cashrewards confirmation.

    • +1

Not to worry, it usually take 2 to 3 days for them to send you a confirmation.

    • +1

Mine took about 1 minute to show up.

    • Still waiting here as well

  • Requested to port over from Amaysim to Boost from Boost website with last Black Friday deal like few weeks ago and still processing, three chats said it is still processing so I needed to wait, called them three times and finally they just suggested me to cancel the porting request so I can try again, so let them cancel it but haven’t received any updates for few days again. Maybe I have to call them again today.
Not sure if cash back will be processed properly if it is purely a boost porting issue?

    • That's a bit of a worry. I'm currently on an Amaysim plan that's about to expire and I am tempted to get this deal but won't if there's an issue porting from Amaysim to Boost. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

    • +1

definitely doesn't seem right. my port from amaysim to boost took about 5 minutes and this was on a Wednesday at 9pm.

    • Called the Boost support team today and I was told that I will just need to wait until Friday and call them again if it won’t be cancelled by then. It shouldn’t have taken this long and what I was told is just wait and give them some time. Three weeks would be enough I believe though..

  • Thank you OP, been waiting for one and now bought one.

  • Thanks TA.
Need similar for 240 GB plan too.

  • I just bought one for $165 yesterday, bugger!!

    • +4

Please hand in your Ozbargain membership.

  • Anyone with woolies thinking to jump as well

  • Can this be use as a reload?

  • Does anyone have any recommendations for existing boost customers? Are we able to use this and just get slightly less data? Alternatively, are there any cheap plans to port out to and then port back into boost? Thanks :)

  • Last cash back transaction still has not tracked.
