Has anyone received their SIM as yet? Wondering how long the postage normally takes (Sydney).

    • Mine hasn't even been sent yet. Was thinking of moving other family members over but my run with Boost has been terrible so far. Let's see how this week goes but not expecting it now until after Christmas unfortunately.

      • i never got a shipping notification just found it the post box - no one asked for id etc was just left

        • Thanks. I just chased Boost via their chat and they gave me a tracking reference. Still processing in NSW. Will hopefully arrive in QLD later this week I guess. Slooooow.

        • Same here, just in the letterbox.

          • @CanadaAye: Yeap arrived today. Ported over from Circles and this time around it was a very pleasant and quick experience. All done within 5-10 minutes. Brilliant.

    • Mine arrived today (Tuesday) and activation including transfer of number was done in minutes (from Optus).

  • Sorry if this has been asked before,
    I’m with Telstra prepaid atm.
Do I need a special sim to port or with the one I receive be good to port to Boost?

    • Do I need a special sim to port

      No longer the case.

or with the one I receive be good to port to Boost?

      This.

  • I have a iPhone XS Max with my Telstra prepaid and I get 1 or 2 bars in Brisbane. Anyone having the same problem? Boost would be the same I’m guessing.

  • Just received my SIM in the mail. I ordered on 14/12 and i live in Sydney.

    • Did you have to show ID or sign for it?

      • I had to sign but they didnt need ID

        • OK thanks. Was it Auspost or a courier? I'm wondering what will happen if there's no one home.

          • @donnyb: Star Track - so itll go to wherever their depot is. for me its like 20 min drive away.

          • @donnyb: I'm in Sydney.
It was delivered to me in regular AusPost with tracking.

    • Mine was left in my post box. It was posted in a domestic letter with tracking envelope but Boost never emailed me tracking details.

  • Just received my SIM today (Sent via AUS POST domestic letter envelope with tracking), ordered on 14 DEC.

    • Ordered mine on the 16th my recharge currently ends on the 22nd dec did anyone get notification it’s on way with tracking?
Bit crap no follow up dispatched or tracking number given

      • Nope, didn't get any tracking info.

  • I am an existing Boost customer, and I understand I can still get $40 CB, but with only 130GB data.
When I get the new sim, do I port my number from Boost to Boost? How does this work?

    • You can't through the automated system.

Options are to port out to somewhere else and then back in again (thus becomming a new customer), or contact Boost and ask them to do it
(I accidentially bought a starter kit rather than a recharge - please move me over to it)

      • +2

I was told by boost i could purchase this promo and would have two options I can either use this deal as a recharge and they transfer to my current sim.
But I’m lead to believe that if I did this I would lose my cashback from another member on here said.

My other option was to keep that new sim and get my current number transferred over to it.

And the same member on here said this way would be best as would still qualify for the cashback.

My last day of my recharge ends on 22nd and my sim finally arrived today but think I will deal with it tomorrow.
I got emailed my chats so if they try something funny I can show they what was offered.

        • RE Cashback - isn't it just for the actual purchase, and as long as the sim is activated then all good?
It's a two-step process so even if that's just for a half an hour i guess it's fullfilled? I think last time they transferred my phone number to the new sim via chat, so should be fine.

Easier when they are on special at coles like last time.

  • Placed the order via CR a day ago, but for some reason yet receive the tracking confirms :-(.
In the past I've got the tracking confirmation straight away.
Anyone placed the order, appreciate if you chime in as to how long it took for the CR tracking confirmation.

    • +2

Hi. Tracking for Boost is near instant. Unsure how you transacted, so it's difficult for me to comment on what may have gone wrong. Using the CR app certainly helps. But please don't worry. Lodge a claim via your click history after 7 days and the team will take care of it. Thanks.

      • Thanks TA, was done using Chrome on PC. will lodge a claim as suggested 👍 after 7 days.

  • Hi,
I am with Telstra prepaid. Can I get this sim plan ..? Any issues with porting ..? Plz suggest..
    Thanks

  • +1

All sorted for another year my recharge ends tonight got them to activate my new sim ordered here and asked them to transfer my number to the sim.
    All done for another year.
I obviously saved $30 on this deal hopefully the $40 cashback pays when due.

  • Yep just picked mine up today from the letterbox. Is nice to secure my data and comms for another year.

This is my fourth year of jumping telco's. Telstra originally the stingy bastards, jumped to $180 120Gb Optus deal discounted to $150, jumped to $120 120Gb Coles deal, jumped to $200 200Gb (discounted to $125 thankyou officeworks) Vodafone deal, jumped to this140Gb Boost deal.

Master1 is on his 2nd coles $150 deal (recharged today discounted to $120) rolled over 50Gb for a total of 170Gb.
Master2 is about to start his first 365 day Au Post deal $112.50 for 100Gb.

best thing I ever did is question why am I with telstra prepaid whom give you bugger all, all those years ago.

    • How did you get the discount on the Coles $150 deal? I have autorecharge turned off atm

      • +1

Login to your account online go to the recharge section and you'll see the offer. I did it on his last day of the plan, so 0 days left it said. He only used 30Gb all year of the 120Gb, only up to 50Gb rolls over.

Instead of jumping ship for him, it's worth staying at that price. More importantly his service has been great with no issue to date. Now he's got the next 365 days sorted with 170Gb.

Master2 gets his done today on that AU Post deal, his first.

  • Is it possible to transfer 4 existing Telstra accounts to 4 of the Boost accounts, and receive cashback for each?

  • Also, can I buy extra data if I run out?

  • when does this offer expire?

    • It says under the post and before comments, Jan 3rd.

  • Got my Mrs and I off Optus and onto Boost with this deal.

The reception has generally been really poor in comparison. We’re both on new iPhones so any idea why this would be the case in metro Melbourne??

  • Assume this is still going.. Any bonus data?
Need another one as mine expires in a month now. This will be the third year on boost :).

These have gone up in price but the cashback seems to make up for it I guess.
Last $200 140GB sim was $148 ($156 price beat at OW) and came with 80GB bonus data.
Still have about 92GB out of 140GB after 11 months, so it's a bit hard to justify the $300 boost sim (have wi-fi at home, work)
    Cheers

  • Their customer service is practically non-existent. Got a faulty sim and waited for 4 hours to connect to someone, who wasted my time in asking me to restart etc. Still waiting for replacement sim to come after 2 weeks.

  • thinking of getting this, vs amaysim 45% off vs Woolworths (10% off shopping once a month = $120 back at least for me anyway so ends up being like $40 to $60 yearly plan)

  • Ported today, couldn't be stuffed waiting till 2nd Jan. Had a bit of trouble online, twice it "Something went wrong, try again later". So I installed the Boost app and used the chat function. Gave the details needed, took about 15 mins through Chat. Within 5 mins of that I had no Vodafone provider, turned off the phone put in the Boost sim and I'm Boosted so to speak. Lets gooooooo

  • Cashback did not track. Submitted a claim but got the textbook "recharge for existing account". I've never been with boost before??

    Kinda peeved but hey

    • @tightarse give this peeved “new customer” ahoy maybe?

      • Thanks for mentioning on behalf of me haha, I think it was a matter of simple misunderstanding as the customer support must have thought I was already with them when I said "I ported over and service is active". They got back to me saying they would send an enquiry with Boost. Fingers crossed!

  • 5G is always connected but no reception, 4G is a lot more reliable

  • -3

    Madness!
    Such a waste of time.
Can't purchase without entering either Australian drivers licence details or Australian passport details (doesn't give an option to enter any other type of valid government accepted IDs).
Also, why the need to provide details now opposed to during time of activation (boost can do data handling rather than cashrewards unnecessarily harvesting details as middle man).
Poor form, whatever the excuse(while it is readily available to buy from other online providers eg:eBay stores, without needing such details).

    • How exactly does Cashrewards harvest details from this? Your purchase and contract is with Boost, not Cashrwards and any data you provide you’re providing directly to them. All Cashrewards does is receive a commission for driving sales to Boost, of which a portion is then returned as cashback to its members. Thanks.

      • While purchasing through the cashrewards app, in-app browser is used.
You can read below to familiarise yourself with the risks associated with it(eg the data harvesting capabilities): https://www.csoonline.com/article/3672234/in-app-browser-sec…

While I thank you for all the deals you post(I am sure I have benefited from your posted deals before), I will have to pass this one (or not use the app but rather buy using the other link you provided, but I guess there is risk of it not tracking).

        • You don’t need to provide ID when purchasing the SIM. That is only required during activation so has no link to CR regardless.

          • @Borg: Not correct Borg.
You would think common sense will prevail, but no, need to provide details upfront before you can complete the order.

            • @Covid19: What other phone company can you active a Sim service without providing proof of ID?

              • +1

@G-rig: Looks like you guys are missing the point.
You can buy SIM without having to provide driver licence details everywhere else(eg: $2 SIMs at various servos).
You can even buy Boost SIM from various eBay stores without having to provide licence details.
My problem was with that in this deal(if you actually clicked the link in offer and tried to purchase, you would have seen you couldn't complete order without providing either of 2 type of IDs - licence or passport)

Of course you need to provide details when activating which no one is disputing.

                • @Covid19: Yes I've bought a boost sim from officeworks before and didn't have to provide it

Not sure why it matters if you have to provide it sooner or later when activating (to Boost as well).. maybe I'm missing something too. Plenty of places to buy one anyway if you don't like direct.

                  • @G-rig: If you read my second comment above, I think it clarifies concern.
Workaround for me was to not use the app.

                    • @Covid19: Oh right, noticed that.
So you're saying that shopback or boost is collecting data, is that the concern?

You'll have to give boost that information when activating anyway so don't exactly see the big deal.

If you don't click through the cash rewards app you probably won't get the cashback tracked, which defeats the whole purpose.

                    • @Covid19: Glad you sorted it out.

  • Fingers crossed this won't expire before the 3d.

    • The deal expires on the 3rd, just buy before then, that could just be the boost discount, no idea about the cashback deal. Activate within 30d.

  • Soooo, according to the above comments, as an international student I have zero chance to get this deal, right?

  • +2

How do people manage their data usage? Can you set alerts/limits per month?

    • On Samsung (Android?) you can. Not sure about iPhone. There's probably a way to do it.

  • Unfortunately this did not track for me. Put through a claimed through click history and attached the email order confirmation. Hopefully it works out.

    Product review has a 2.0/5
Anyone with positive/negative customer experiences to discuss?

    • +1

      Ha product review.

  • @tightarse The app shows error loading page
    Error code: -1000
    Anyone getting the same thing?

  • Hi OP,

If I buy this tomorrow, do I still have to activate it before 30th Jan or can I activate on 2nd Feb (30 days after the purchase) to be eligible for cashback?

Boost website says, "Value SIM includes first recharge. Data offer valid for new customers only who activate by 30 Jan 2023. Terms Apply." What does this mean? What would happen if I activate on 2nd of Feb?

  • Getting this error when checking out in the last step, seems the service is down?

"Sorry, we are unable process your order. Please try again later."

    • One thing to try, make sure the credit card used for payment is under the same name as the name entered in the previous pages. Had the same errors yesterday until i worked that out.

      • Thanks, using the same name, not sure what else could be wrong here - perhaps browser related, I'll try a different one.

        • tried Chrome in Incognito, no luck

          • @kurabi: Are you using AMEX? It won't be accepted. Visa or MasterCard only.

            • @assailantsky: using MasterCard

              • @kurabi: contacted customer service and got the standard response that their servers may be busy and to try again or call them. I also tried another CC with same result/error.

        • Had the same error when signing up past the CC submission yesterday. Turned off my VPN and voila, it worked.

    • I had a same issue just now. Used another card and it worked. May it's just a glitch and trying again might work.

  • Abit of an unusual Q:

Anyone have experience porting while overseas travelling? My 30-day activation window falls during a trip abroad. I'm with Catch Connect at the moment, but i presume it's just an SMS confirmation once porting is initiated?

    • If porting your old number, you will get a sms text with code to confirm the port.

I activated mine today, hope I get the $40 Cashback.

      • Did you have to reply to the SMS or was it just a notification? Cheers.

        • The SMS contains a code that you use the activate Boost.
          No reply needed.

  • Mine turned up quick enough, the idiot postie didn't put in mailbox properly so the envelope soaked.

PS. Probably could have just recharged my current 365 day Sim, still got 90gb. I don't think it expires as such given its a starter Sim. Cheap as chips anyway and tax write-off.

  • Bought this on the 1st and still no tracking email. Did it take that long for others? CR used to be quick with the tracking, so I don't if this delay has anything to do with the holidays or the fact that Boost hasn't shipped the item yet.

    • +2

      Mine tracked immediately

    • +2

I used the mobile app as suggested on the 31st of Dec and it tracked immediately. Also still hasn't shipped.

      • Yeah, I bought mine on the desktop, after following the deal link from here and activating it. And ad-blocker and antivirus etc all always deactivated for CR, so I don't know why it didn't track. Never had such an issue before.

  • What's the standard turnaround for delivery. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered, order around boxing Day

    • Bought on Monday, cash rewards tracked same day, arrived via registered post on Thursday (yesterday).

  • My cashrewards tracked fine. I haven't activated yet, will do so in a few days when current one runs out. This will be well within 30 day cashrewards activation limit but logging into cashrewards today and cashback declined! WTF!

  • My cashback got declined too. It's not 30 days yet. What's going on?

    • I thought the 30 days is more so for the Sim - shouldn't the purchase be enough like everything else?

Mine tracked straight away(using the cr app), and received a few days after. Not planning on activating until old one is almost out closer to the end of month.

Just logged into app - still pending, estimated approval 1/04.

      • I think we need to activate the sim within 30days of purchase. But mine already got declined.

        • Yeah I saw that in the op, still bit odd as it's more about the purchase but stops people from getting more than one or selling I guess. Will make sure i do anyway, Cheers.

    • +2

      @ajoesmith @SR9

I’m currently on leave, but will flag this with Boost first thing Monday. Absolutely no reason why SIMs within 30 days of purchase should be declined. Please don’t worry, this will be sorted, and I’ll report back here next week. Thanks :)

      • Thanks tightarse.

      • Hello, I just want to add that my Cashback is declined too.

I had been waiting a little time to activate the Boost sim to get the most out of my Amaysim 30 day sim I ported to. And then just now I went to activate my Boost sim to make sure I was under the 30 day limit (purchased 14/12/22), got it all done and then went onto the Cashrewards website to see if there was something I needed to manually do for the rest of the process (I have never used cashrewards before until this purchase) and it said "Cashback was not approved". I checked it about 5 days ago and it had said it was still pending.

I do appreciate you looking into it. Thank you.

        • +1

Have to put in a claim half the time..
I find using the phone app is the best, less chance of ad blockers and stuff.

          • @G-rig: Yeah okay thanks for the suggestion. Not so sure I want their app on my phone to be honest. But I have already put in a claim with proof of purchase and activation, just in case OP is unable to resolve the issue for me.
