Haha was just posting this. Good price delivered.

  • +1

Literally bought the black one for $79 yesterday. Didn’t particularly care about colour, so would have gotten these. Oh well.

    • +1

Thank you for saying ‘literally’. I would have thought you’re exaggerating

  • +1

All colours are $79 at Big W. Got JB to price match and used recent 15% off gift card deal.

    • Did you price match online or in store, wondering cause BigW has no stock in QLD

    • Same.

  • +3

Green/Blue have been unobtainium even at default prices for ages now AFAIK. They are the real deals here.

    • Yep. The blue at any price is a buy…. at $70odd it's a steal.

  • Is this the version which people would get to use with a PC?

    • +1

Keen to know the answer to this question…

      .

    • +1

Just be aware… I went through three of these in 12 months. Faulty LB on each one of them. Used LB as the handbrake on Forza Horizon games; I wasn't excessively rough, either.

IMO, the new Series S/X controllers have worse build quality than the previous XB1 controllers. They look and feel cheaply made in comparison.

      • +1

That's concerning for the price. I was looking at official controllers since there seemed to be a going notion that they were higher quality than the others.

        • +1

I've had 3 PowerA enhanced Xbox controllers go in about 4 months despite being the "Best budget Xbox controller". First one got heavy stick drift, second LB broke and third stiff numpad + A button broke. The programmable buttons they provide aren't any use when you actually register the broken button to another.

Official Xbox controller took 18 months or so to develop an unusable level of stick drift. Another type of PowerA controller (og Xbox) still works 3+ years later, just has sticky triggers (they don't always spring back out properly).

Treated them all well. My guess is it's just luck of the draw.

        • +3

I find them to feel great, solid, nice texture and good button / stick feel. Coming from minimal experience with others besides Xbox 1

      • I went through three of these in 12 months. Faulty LB on each one of them

I have three at house and they all play fine, two of them since almost xsx launch. You probably need to treat them better (incoming ‘I treat them nicely’ reply)

        • I treat them nicely. :-)

Bought the controller at Hardly Normal and returned three times. The guy behind the counter implied the same thing.

Original XB1 controller lasted me several years, no issues at all. In fact, I ended up getting a refund on the new one after the third return, then took my original XB1 controller to EB Games to be "rebooted". That was over a year ago; still works perfectly.

Only reason it needed repairs was because the joystick finally wore out. Pretty sure it lasted me four years without issue.

I maintain, the new controllers aren't built as well. YMMV.

          • @Massive Flog: Pretty much all modern controllers have terrible build quality, but I don't think the new xsx controllers are any worse built than the xbox360. I don't play many games that use the LR triggers, so it might be those components that are crappy?

      • +1

I got the Blue controller late last year (black Friday-ish timeline) for $71, it's still working today. But that's probably more to do with the fact that I'm using it as my main controller for Steam/EPIC/PC gaming in general. I am wary about the Xbox Series S|X controllers and their durability, I migrated over to them early on despite not having a Series S|X at the time of release, I still needed a new controller and figured WHY THE HECK NOT ?

Had a faulty B button early on (got stuck in the controller's casing), replaced it and the next few had dodgy shoulder buttons. I'm primarily using the controller that came with my Series S (white) and that like the blue controller is a year old. I recently started using the controller that came with the Series X just for something different (almost like changing underwear ? lol).

Like another poster here referenced the Telstra plus promotion, I have a massive amount of Telstra points at my disposal. Part of it will expire next month, so rather than let the points expire without spending them, I have 3 more Xbox Series S|X controllers in my possession (well the first was delivered earlier this week, two more should be here next week sometime!).

You can never have too many controllers! I have a fair few Xbox 360 controllers in my collection, in part because I had so many consoles (RROD for the win lol - I did get a few repaired by Microsoft, but sometimes I was too impatient and I automatically purchased a new console instead - which conveniently came with 2 controllers + games). My favourite Xbox 360 controller was the silver/metallic controller (the first one that had the rotating d-pad), that and the Modern Warfare 3 controllers (which I got with the MW 3 LE console).

      • Disliking that news. I just got one to replace an old wired 360 controller I bought back in the 00s for my PC. That is still running like new.

If you don't mind using it cabled, then yes. Bluetooth connectivity is also an option if you're not fussed about input lag.. otherwise, you'd want this one that comes with the adapter

      • Thanks, I'm guessing the cable isn't included in this one since there's a $94 one with the cable included. Bluetooth might be okay though I'll have to read up on it.

        • +3

Any USB-C cable should do if you have one lying around

          • @OSienna: Hrm I think I have 2 USB-C charger cables (from a Moto G31 and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite), but they're both super short. A new cable might be cheap though, will look into that too.

          • +1

@OSienna: FYI - not just any USB-C cable will work. Most you get with phones or cheapy USB-C will only charge the controller. You'll need to make sure got 'play & charge' written somewhere on the packaging.

            • @Cludo: Thanks for the heads up. Is it maybe 'charge & sync' which I should be looking for on usb-c cables? 'play & charge' seems to be a term used for battery packs for these xbox controllers, but it could just be google being overly helpful after searching for xbox controller info.

        • +1

I've been using my old XB1 controller on my PC thru Bluetooth with no real noticeable input lag. Playing NBA 2K and it feels fine.

          • +2

@CrispyChrispy: Yeah just found this video and bluetooth seems okay, since I'm not going to be doing any competitive multiplayer gaming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYGOhQGv3S0

Just want something to use my PC from an exercise bike for occasional gaming. Worst case scenario a cable is also an option and then charging won't be an issue.

    • +1

Works fine with PC. I have this exact one since launch and have never had any issues, except during the time Xbox Game Pass keep disconnecting the Bluetooth connection but that is fixed now.

  • +3

I need to buy this controller and save up for the console.

    • Like buying a steering wheel then saving for the rest of the car?

      • Still waiting for amazon to restock ps5 console rather than xbox

        • +1

Xsx doesn’t have some of the nice Sony exclusives but gamepass makes it attractive.

  • Waiting for a Dual Sense controller deal.. Spiderman remastered has been on my Steam Wishlist too long, but I refuse to swing across building using a keyboard and mouse.

    • Why would you use dual sense controller on pc?

      • +1

That's the one people recommended for Spider-man, the game with built with haptic feedback in mind.
I don't really play any other games that require a controller

  • -1

yep got the blueshock xbox series X controller from telstra for 0 dollars and paid 29 bucks for the rechargeable battery for the controller because ofcourse the stupid xbox has controllers that you have to buy a separate accessory to charge it….

    • Why? You can use eneloops or Ladda from ikea

      • never been to ikea never will. every controller on the planet has a build in rechargeable battery Microsoft needs to get on board.

        • +4

Rechargeable AA's are much better value! I have 16 on the go (not just for the amount of Xbox controllers that I have).

          • -1

@hawktalk: can't plug in your controller and have it charge, the only thing xbox people dont' seem to understand is that when you not playing you just plug it in, alot of xbox people only boost how good AA batteries are because they forget to charge things. between the switch the ps5 and xbox series X controllers all get fully charged and all have the official battery packs. This isn't the 1980s or 1990 people need to move on from AA batteries in controllers.

        • +4

          @kungfuman
Built in rechargables suck, and i'm really glad MS opted for AAs in this one. You can buy the rechargeable MS battery pack if you want, but this is clearly superior:
          1) People that prefer to play wired have a lighter controller
          2) You don't need to void the warranty to replace the battery
          3) You can run out of battery and swap new ones in, in 20 seconds, rather than have to plug in or wait half an hour.
          4) AA is the single most common and cheap battery, NiMH, Li-ion, Alkaline, etc.

dont' seem to understand is that when you not playing you just plug it in

This is retarded and only shortens your in-built batteries life to make up for the fact you cant hot-swap batteries.

What you should actually want is: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/accessories/batteries-chargers/pl…

          • -1

@ssfps: only every controller out there uses build in and you get much more battery life out of built in than you would AA rechargeables. people talk about the environment and all this crap and yet they will be happy to use AA batteries by the mountain load lol.

            • +1

              @kungfuman:

you get much more battery life out of built in

That's false, it all depends on the amount of battery and the battery types being compared.

              environment

Pretty sure alkaline batteries manufacturing is less toxic than li-ion.
And, nothing stopping you from using rechargable AAs.

There is no reasonable argument for built-in non-replaceable batteries in the majority of consumer devices, you've just fallen for marketing or are defending what you're accustomed to.

              • +1

@ssfps: I would always go for replaceable batteries over non-replaceable. Non-replaceable is basically a tactic to get customers to switch their products over more often as no matter how well you look after the device, the battery will die at some point.

  • Does anyone know if is stable through bluetooth on pc? I tried with my switch pro controller before and it was dropping out so many times.

    • Just a thought, maybe the problem is on the Bluetooth on your pc?

    • +3

buy the microsoft xbox wireless usb adapter you will never have an issue again.

    • From some quick googling earlier, some people reported it as stable if it's the only bluetooth device you're using, but it gets less stable if you're also using a bluetooth headset or something.

    • The problem is usually cheap Bluetooth adapter on the PC. They are not designed for the couch distances, low lag, and multiple devices that go along with game controllers.

We had to buy a PCI Bluetooth/WiFi card.

8bitdo USB adapters work well too, and a are a LOT more convenient if you switch between consoles/PCs regularly, because they pair faster.

    • There is a known issue with earlier firmware versions, apparently in some update they improve the stability. Don't use it wirelessly myself, just read about it online.

paid $164 for Elite 2 Core from Gamesmen eBay couple weeks back

    just saying

once you factor in the rechargeable battery, why not go straight for the elite? it's rechargeable out of the box, and customisable to the core (no pun intended). once I tweaked the thumbsticks response curve to my liking, I have much more fun playing FPS

    • +1

      $70 vs $164
You don’t need to pay extra, just use eneloops or ladda or the Bunnings alkaline batteries

    • +1

my issue is the stick drift, my original Elite controller had the issue and while I liked the feel and the back pedals, the core is the price of at least 2 of those Elite 2 Core, I don't think it's worth it still.

Unless the Elite core is at $120, then I think it's a fair price point.

    • +5

Because I’d never pay that much for a video game controller.

    • +1

Ah damn, I just bought this and didn't realize the battery wasn't rechargeable. That's an ongoing cost on top of it. They apparently last about 13-40 hours. That's less than a playthrough of a lot of games. :/

      • +3

Non changeable rechargeable batteries suck. Eventually they'll stop holding a charge.

Play 'n Charge is cheap and replaceable.

        • +2

I think there are too many kids that never owned a battery charger who've grown up in the era of inbuilt "planned-obsolescence" Li-ions, and internalized that damage (what else is there!?). Hopefully there are enough of us left that manufacturers don't completely eliminate replaceable batteries.

          • @ssfps: I'm actually pre-Internet old but just haven't owned a battery charger in 15+ years, and am just thinking about the added cost to this if it requires getting one (seems to be another ~50%).

            • +2

@CodeExplode: Fair enough, the way things have been in the last decade I only recently switched back from alkalines to rechargeable. I've gone out of my way to get devices that use AA/AAAs, i.e. flashlights, controllers, kids toys.

    • Prefer much more touch and feel of elite..

      • +1

my thoughts exactly. much more premium feel to p. much every control, and the adjustable tension in the sticks is a nice touch, along with the other improvements.

  • +1

TGG price matched if others prefer to by local.

  • +1

Thanks OP bought one, Prime delivering tomorrow.

  • +3

Had been looking for the USB wireless adapter, don’t know why a dongle can be so expensive

  • Not trying to compare but anyone have any experience with Thrustmaster ESWAP X Pro

  • Was thinking about getting the green one for so long as I hope they gone down in price to like sub $60 like the red one😔

  • +1

Looks to be back in stock.

  • Amazon have matched EB Games prices on the:

For those looking for the wireless adapter combo, it just went on sale for $79
