Just spotted this, finally a decent discount from Telstra.

From Telstra: Get $50 off a Pre-Paid SIM with 200GB of data for use in Australia, plus unlimited calls and texts to standard numbers in Australia. Limit 2 per account.

If you price beat at officeworks you can get it for $237.50. Then using the current deal on Celebration gift cards at Coles (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/744614) you can reduce by another 15%. This brings it to $201.88. Bargain!

    • True, but I live in an area where Boost remains unreliable. For the most part they are great though.

Boost coverage is the same as Telstra retail though?

        • Not quite, although I believe it’s getting there. Small difference but enough to affect certain areas

        • I actually am mistaken - looks as though it has the exact same coverage. I don’t believe this was the case ~18 months ago. Cheers for the heads up!

@slartibartfast960: Just FYI it's been this way for years. Boost were the only mvno to strike a deal where they get to use the full Telstra retail network. Everyone else gets their wholesale network.

It should be, but I have no idea why my Boost service is not as good as my Telstra account was.
Both on the same device (S21), with Boost, there has been a noticeable difference in speed and reception in certain areas. Not massive, but definitely noticeable.

Any option to link your Apple Watch to this Pre-Paid sim? If not, is there any pre-paid sim provider where you could do that?

  • Is it for 12 months? please add to t he title.

Wish they had recharge vouchers at this discount !

  • Hmm just called officeworks to do the pricebeat. Unfortunately they don't pricebeat with Telstra directly because Telstra involves sign up then purchase =/ bugger

    • +2

That’s rubbish, insist. Telstra does not activate the SIM card with the purchase, it can be used by anyone once it arrived.

      • Yeah I know.I asked again that it's prepaid and doesn't require anything then the agent said if it's directly from Telstra, Optus, Kogan, they don't do price beat. Because we need to sign up to purchase. Keen to hear if anyone got it successful.

        • Tell the manager that he or she will loose the job!

  • Telstra can't provide a receipt for prepaid services purchased on their website. I've tried support 4 times, and the best answer I've got is that they'll provide an invoice 48 hours after it's expired (ie. In 12 months time).
So if you want to claim it back from work, or claim it off your tax, best to buy elsewhere (or buy it in-store).

  • Got a price beat on two of these today at Officeworks no problem
