For those with RAC, you might be able to get these slightly cheaper with Retravisions 10% Double Discount Weekend:

    https://www.retravision.com.au/rac-double-discount-weekend

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max VS Chromecast with Google TV HD
    Both $44.10 !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Duty free same price for anyone going on holidays overseas

  • Could still be cheaper using perks coupon if you still have one, but coupons don't stack!

    • If perk coupon don't stack
      Why would it cheaper?

      • Eg HD Version would be 49-10=39.
        4k Version would be 71-10=69

        • yes, I am aware of the $10 off perk
          and can do the math

Could still be cheaper using perks coupon but coupons don't stack!

but didn't you say it won't stack with this coupon or does it stack?
your comment doesn't make sense since you said could be cheaper but then say coupons don't stack.

          • @pinkybrain: The discount code in this posted deal is for 10% off, but the JB Perks voucher is for $10.

So for anything under an original price of $100, the JB Perks code is going to give you a bigger discount than the 10% off code.

I think that's all they are saying.

  • Is there a point getting this if i have an android tv with built in chrome cast? My time is meant to be 4k but not sure about the inbuilt Chromecast.

It'll probably be supported longer than your TV's inbuilt software. Probably a bit snappier too.

Same scenario, bought one just to run vpn 24/7 so I can access hotstar

      • What vpn do u use for hotstar ?

  • Damn it. I just bought a Google TV for the 10% extra price. But am now wondering if I accidentally bought the HD version. Anyone know how to tell them apart from the software side? They're physically identical apparently…. 🤔

    • Same

Look at the box. 4K should have a 4K label on it.

        • Unfortunately its not prominently labelled, but it should be on the bottom left in small writing.

    • What model number is written on the back of the device itself? I have a bunch of 4K ones and they all say "GZRNL" on the back.

  • Is the 4k more grunty than the HD? Got the HD here and feel like it's a bit laggy at times (though could also be the crummy interwebs)

If you’re used to a phone sort of speed, need to remember how much you’re paying for the device. If you want fast, need to get an Apple TV.

    • 4k has better specs

  • Has anyone joined 2 mini nests together for a speaker group in a room?

    • You can actually stereo pair a set of nest minis or nest audios - that would be a better option than creating a speaker group for a room. However, creating a speaker group would also work if you went down that route.

Be aware that nest mini audio quality is so so.

      • Aah yes I just wanted to try in the 4x3 sized alfresco area of our house twin them up whilst watching tv and using them as better speakers with Google tv box on an older tv

        • I'm not sure these will pair to your tv to be used as speakers for your tv audio. They are mainly for playing music, Google Assistant etc.

Do some research first if you plan to use as speakers for your TV.

    • yes,
stereo pairing is better than group pairing if you want proper left and right audio from each speaker.

      • Cheers many thanks

  • I often see the 4K version brand new (still shrink wrapped) on the FB marketplace for between $40 - $60… probably unwanted gifts? I've bought a few of mine off there :)
