Some of these pc ports are bringing over Dual sense features too.
Never used a controller on a PC. Any problems or things to be aware of if using one of these? Is an Xbox controller a better move?
DS4Windows is a must have when playing non Steam games. For me, I find the PS controllers to be more comfortable and the ergonomics are really good since my hands are more spread out and not cramped unlike when using a controller such as an Xbox.

Also keep in mind the placement of the thumbstick. I prefer the Xbox style controller because the location of the thumbstick feels more natural.
my honest opinion is it depends on your hand size. I'm a big guy and my hands are huge so the xbox controller suits me better.

Under warranty? Sony will replace. I had mine replaced this week.
It came with console that I bought last December. It thought it's covered under warranty so I took it apart.
How easy was the process? Do they provide a paid shipping label like Microsoft? And did you receive a new controller or refurbished?
If not under warranty, they can be fixed relatively easy if you don't mind taking the controller apart.. You can swap out the potentiometers inside joysticks, no need for desoldering or anything unless it's the actual spring mechanism, then that might need to replace the whole joystick maybe. I fixed one of mine recently by just swapping the potentiometers and it wasn't that difficult… Same goes for the springs in the triggers, they failed on both my controllers, and they are easier to replace than the potentiomers. Probably easier just to buy a new controller for most people, especially if there is a good sale like this, but I would recommend keeping the old one and have a go at fixing it if you can.

This is the video I used. He shows how to pull the controller apart and access the potentiomets. It is quite fiddly to do the first time so follow the video carefully. In this video he ends up cleaning up the existing potentiometer to fix it. But I recommend just swapping it out instead.

I can't be bothered rewriting what I wrote earlier. I had an alieexpress link for the potentiometers that are much cheaper and I think that's why the comment was deleted. Here is an eBay link for the same item:
@Shaun Prawn: A few weeks ago I tried cleaning the potentiometers but it still drifts. I was thinking buying new parts to replace but they're all 2-3 months long wait. I may purchase the ebay item as its shipping doesn't take too long.
@dinhhuynh: Yeh same here. When I tried cleaning it didn't work either, but when I swapped them out it worked perfectly.

Depends what you play. The new xbox X|S controllers have the best dpad around at the moment, so i'd take one of them for retro gaming. (Note, only the X|S ones, the older xbox controllers have garbage dpads).
Dualsense makes sense if you are playing games that specifically support it, but there are only a handful on PC that do - most will just treat it the same as any other XInput controller.
Most modern PC games treat all gamepad controllers the same.
anyone used these for PC? DS4 ones were pretty good and lasted me like 5 years, the biggest issue was the stupid micro-usb cables

Got Red and Black, hope they’re both the newer models. What should it say on the controller for the newer models?
The newer controllers have an FCC ID Number that ends with an "A" according to Tom's Guide
