Silicon Power XPOWER Zenith 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Memory $119.95 + Delivery @ Mwave

510

Seems like a pretty decent deal for a 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18

Note these are NOT the RGB version.

i'm hoping these would be dual rank hynix chip based on the web review of their RGB variant but then again just like most memory makers they tend to swap parts so i'm a bit skeptical of it especially at this price, fingers crossed as to what I'm going to get with my order.

UPDATE: I got a dual rank Samsung C-die

  • Can someone tell me if this ram will work with this laptop please? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/742997

(I'm quite computer illiterate, but i like playing computer games)

No this is desktop RAM. You'd be after SODIMM RAM.

      • nuts, thank you :)

Good deal Hynix IC's so will likely scale well with frequency, review here:

Might not still be the same though as manufacturer then to produce newer revision with different parts. If we're lucky it might still be the same but the low price makes me think otherwise.

      • Hopefully it's just cheap run out due to DDR5

  • holding out for 1x32gb deals….

  • It's a nice price but always doubted to this brand and warranty…sorry.

  • Should I buy 32G (16x2) or buy exact model of my existing 16GB (8x2) to make it 8x4? What's the pro and cons?
    I have a 8700k with TUF Z370 Plus Gaming motherboard, 8x2 2400MHz RAM OCed to 2933MHz

    • or buy 16x4 to make it 64gb?

it would be a significant upgrade :)

      • Honestly I want that but I think it's just way too overkill, I don't play much game and I'm sure 32G is enough to browse OzBargain on Google Chrome :P

        • -1

ayyy that's like just 1 tab for chrome :P

    • you will have almost no chance to end up buying the same Memory IC like your old ones.

There's still a chance for you to end up with not the same IC if you buy 2 separate pack of 8g*2 at ONE store at the same time.

      • Yeah I do agree with you, can I buy second hand RAMs?

        • +1

tbh, is it worth the pain of getting /troubleshooting dodgy 2nd hand RAMs vs getting a new 2x16g pair and be done with it?

        • ram pricing is hitting new low atm, I doubt many people willing to sell at even lower price, let alone finding the same model make.

and you'll need to trouble the seller to insert those ram back into their PC, run thaiphoon burner to check what memory IC it got, and screenshot you.

this is "much longer" than a long shot.

    • are you able to find your exact model of your current 8x2 sticks? i bought an extra 8x2 sticks from same manufacturer/model/speed/timings but the memory chips were different and caused my memory to always have errors during memory tests. ended up returning it back.

      • Yeah that is my main concern too, can I buy second hand RAMs? In that case I can just ask seller for an actual photo of the RAM so I can match

      • Happened to me too.
Random blue screen when I have 4 sticks in, but either pair by itself is fine.

Mixing ram is fine if you can stabilise it, buy any 3200+ kit and OC again. Even if you got the exact same ram that's extra IMC load, extra silicon lottery, might need different terminations, and DD timings become relevant so your old OC is useless anyway. Honestly tho, just get a 32GB kit, it's not that much more, a lot less hassle, and a 2400 kit is just dead weight at this point compared to modern DDR4.

  • $133.95 to where I live. sigh… still a little salty over that cheap centrecom deal haha

  • Anyone aware if these or single or dual rank?

    • its a gamble as with most 2x16 gb memory nowadays. The review of its RGB variant shows it to be a Dual rank with Hynix chip but its hard to say whether there is a newer revision that changed its parts/components. I'll be checking it once i get the item although it will probably be after xmas for it to arrive.

      • Thanks. Deciding between upgrading the old 1700 (want to move to 32gb) and changing platform. This price really adds value to staying on this platform

        • Ryzen 1700? hmm i'll be worried about compatibility with this memory as older Ryzen are quite picky with the ram compatibility. I think they get better memory compatibility from the newer gen Ryzen so probably better to change the cpu first.

          • @Sum1: Sorry, I'd be upgrading to a 5000 series.

  • I have 2x16gb 3200MHz sticks, CL16-20-20-40, would I just be creating more problems by getting this? I feel like mixing 3600mhz and 3200mhz (CL18 VS CL16) is asking for trouble down the line!

    • Dunno until you try it.
It'll probably work as long as you slow the deal's sticks down to match your current ones. Like 90% sure.
But at the end of the day the only guaranteed speed all DDR4 ram can run at is 2133MHz CL15 or something.

  • 16GB (2x 8GB) variant for $59.95 available here

  • Wow haven't seen 32gb pair this low before, bought one thank you~!

Picked mine up today and installed it

Its Samsung IC and Dual rank

    • Thanks for the info. I haven't got mine but in theory we should get the same batch.
      I'm happy that it's a dual rank.
Seems like a pretty good deal then.

    • Nice that should clock pretty well then… could you run a taiphoon burner check to see if its B or D die etc?

      • C Die according to Thaiphoon burner, given the loose timings there is no expectation for it to be the legendary B Die anyway.

Bumped mine up to 4000MHz C18 and had trouble posting

Dropped it down to 3933MHz C18 and seems to be stable, I'll leave it at that and call it a day

        • That's exactly the level I was hoping for. Hopefully I get the same when it turns up!

    • Went to pick up and installed just now, showing exactly the same samsung dual rank, very happy with the upgrade!
