Dangerously close to the 25% discount threshold for voluntary administration….

    • But it isn't….

      • HODL

    • What's the context here?

      • People are still upset because they didn't see the massive warning signs that Deliveroo wasn't doing well.

Doordash has partnered with Coles, Reject Shop, 7/11, recently introduced Dashmart and has pharmacies, bottle shops, florists, butchers etc. Double dashing allows you to get orders from 2 different stores at once with only the one set of fees. Deliveroo had none of that and never gained market share. In terms of promotions, they paled in comparison to the other offerings.

The only thing Menulog has the "delivered by restaurant". They'll be going before Doordash.

        • +1

The fact that they immediately dropped 25% when they IPO'd wasn't enough to make people weary?

        • +6

Full credit to ShopBack on Deliveroo, got me a full refund and I spent 1000 on them. Either way have not learned my lesson buying here :)

        • As a casual gig-worker (I work when I want, if I can be bothered), Doordash is dead. I was getting way more deliveries on Deliveroo than I have with Doordash.
I was using Deliveroo as a customer more than Ive ever used Doordash.
IMO the problem with both Deliveroo and Doordash is lack of advertising. Almost everybody will have seen Uber and Menulog's ads.
I agree that Doordash has some advantages (like their integrations with the likes of KFC and Chemist Warehouse) but I don't see them sticking around.
You're right though, there's really no differentiation between any of the platforms and I think most people either stick with the one they know (Uber) or follow the promotions (12 months free Deliveroo plus)

          • +1

@SirCH: Following the promotions is precisely what I did.

Doordash have promotions like the recent 40% off anything with no minimum spend (eg 40% off meat at Coles - prices aren't marked up), the promo code slips that always happened (allowing free or very cheap orders), referral was $15 off $20 for 3 orders, new user was $20 off $15.

Deliveroo had the most expensive subscription and that deal was targeted. Some got 12, some got 6 and some got nothing.

Doordash and Uber Eats have evolved to deliver more than restaurant food, Menulog seemingly hasn't. It could just be my area but Menulog has the least to offer. Likewise, it could just be your area that doesn't have many Doordash deliveries.

    Deliveroo 2.0

  • +7

Yeah, not falling for this one again

The only Door they'll be Dashing for will be voluntary administration

  • Door dashing risk

Uber has claimed about 50 per cent to 60 per cent of the Australian market, according to figures by delivery management software Deliverect. Coming in second place with roughly 25 per cent market share is DoorDash, followed by Menulog at 20 per cent. Deliveroo held around 8 per cent of the market before it pulled the pin.
    Ref: https://www.smh.com.au/technology/uber-s-rise-and-the-fall-o…

According to the latest Aussie food delivery market sharing, Uber Eats still takes the lead, DoorDash and Menulog are 25% and 20% respectively. Maybe a bet that DoorDash will survive longer than Menulog?

If I had a good delivery service I'd be pushing gift cards to encourage more purchases during the holiday period where more people are taking time off work and going on holidays.

Owait no a discount means you're going into administration. Silly people. Can't be thinking around here on OzAdministration.

  • +1

idk about y'all but im flat out getting a decent feed for 2 for $50 by the time service fees and delivery charge get involved.

    • Blame the inflation

  • Sales before Christmas just similar to Dick Smith. So scar with these gift card scam.

  • Hopefully menu log comes to the party

    • Has Menulog ever had a gift card deal?

  • Cannot find this deal in CR App

    • +1

      Gift cards are web only.

  • Have the chargeback button on standby…

  • max amount purchasable??

    • Limit of 10 DoorDash Gift Cards per member.

  • Oooffff just bought a bunch at 10% cashback

    • Rule 7 of life: Always check OzBargain before purchasing.

The Restaurant Choice Gift Cards was 20% off before https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740514 which is a much better option.
People said that it works with doordash too.
It's weird that it received only so little upvotes.

    • +1

They better rename the card then, I don't usually associate Restaurant with delivery services …

    • +1

      very weird indeed.
I bought those gift cards, and it's literally 20% off at all bars/restaurants/cafes that accept visa. Insane value.

    • I missed that, initially thought the GC can only be used in those listed Restaurants

DoorDash really need to improve their gift card voucher system.

Once you add a gift card to your account, there is no way to see on what date it was added, the amount, etc like you can with Uber.

If you try enter the code again, you get some weird generic error (not like Uber where it says the code has already been redeemed on this account).

Also if you try follow it up with chat, they are absolutely useless and cannot see any further information on your account than you can.

They also seem to combine vouchers and credit into one balance, and there is no way to get a breakdown of each. Credit expires after 6 months.

I had some Doordash gift cards I bought 18 months ago. Tried to add them to my account and get a generic error. I can't remember if I have added them before or not. Even if you give the gift card number to the support they cannot tell you if the gift card has been redeemed or not or what the balance is?

    • That's really annoying, I got that error message when I tried to redeem one of my cards today, still waiting for their customer service to get back to me. I have a feeling they might be useless.

    • when i try to input the final gift card code from the uber code yesterday i just get told "please try again" - a generic error code

  • I use doordash regularly, and with dashpass and these vouchers think I get reasonably good value.
However, I’m worried about them folding so won’t purchase any more gift cards.
I’m still impressed with how shopback handled the deliveroo fiasco though

  • Is there any way to buy multiple at once? Looks like you have to do 1 at a time through truerewards?

  • +3

Please be awared you can only redeem $500 in 30 days. You will get a generic error message if this limit is reached.
But it is weird for me, I only redeems $300 and cannot redeem more. The customer service told me I have reached my limit but can't tell me why.
Also I cannot find this limit anywhere on doordash website, also checked Gift Cards Terms and Conditions.

  • These seem to have no expiry? Am I wrong?

    • +2

No need to set an expiry date, that get sets by the Administrator.

      • -1

And when is that? Since you seem to know for certain it's happening?

        • -1

          August 23 2023
