Refurbished Dell UltraSharp U3011 for $999 from Massa Technology (No Cables)

91

UPDATE: Refurbished, 3 year warranty with dell and 1 year with massa tech. No cables with the box.
Was refurbished by dell, had the sticker from them and was in a sealed dell box when he picked it up with full packaging and protection on it. the sticker says somthing along the lines of "refurbished: this product may contain a combo of new and refurbished parts. Tested to meet original specs"

So my mate bought a Dell U3011 yesterday, and when he told me he had got it for $999 I was a little sceptical. But he sent me a picture and it's the real deal and after a bit of searching online I found the website (he only had a number). This is easily the cheapest I've ever seen a Dell U3011. I'm not sure if the mods will take this down because i'm not sure if this store has an ABN (Edit: ABN Posted below). Judging my the number of fans on their FB page (1000+) and the fact my mate got his from them with 3 years warranty (presumably from Dell, but I didn't ask), I'm inclined to think this is the real deal.

It's apparently a limited time sale, so better get stuck in if you want it. I'm going to try and see if I can bring myself to spend a grand, but in the meantime you guys go ahead.

If you want to call and check first: 0420-641-520

Mod: ABN is 45 703 424 952

Err yeah totally legit…What kind of store only has a mobile number? Common sense people!

    • I'd agree with you, if my friend didn't drive down himself and pick it up yesterday.

Also there's an email too if you bothered to look.

  • lol @ facebook fans inferring legitimate customers

Agreed, I can buy plenty of Facebook fans over the internet.

      • Seems like you're an expert at that.

    1. ABN is 45 703 424 952 - Daniel Massa hence Massatech
    2. Massatech has a few posted deals here
    • Thanks Neil, couldn't find it on the website. Will edit to reflect.

Oops, just noticed you've already done that!

    still looks fishy…
Title says Dell 30" UltraSharp U3011 LCD Monitor on top.
Availability says: Dell 30" 3008WFP Widescreen LCD Monitor

    hmmm WTF?

Dell announced the U3011 in Sep/2010 with an RRP of $1899. So a price of $999 is very attractive (provided the seller is legit). The U3011 has impressive specs: 2560x1600, 7mS response, VGA+2xDVI+2xHDMI inputs, soundbar with power, and 2xUSB ports are good for a start. The killer is color performance and calibration. Dell guarantees a factory Delta E of less than 5. Take it from me - that's an impressive figure.

There's one drawback - the U3011 is showing its age. It's an LCD monitor, not LED - so it's not as thin as more modern monitors.

This monitor is aimed at graphics and photography professionals. A pro-level monitor for $999 is a steal. The real question, however, is how good is the vendor?

    • I've got the U2711 and absolutely adore this monster. I was a bit hesitant about buying a non-LED monitor but I was blown away by the image quality.

    • I've got a U3011, possibly the best purchase i've ever made
Think i paid around $1100 for it from Dell about a year ago, I haven't looked at another monitor since

  • Ive had a U3011 for almost 2 years now and its the best monitor ever! if this is legit then its a great buy at $999 but i think if someone can wait another 6 months to a year they can snap up a new LED 2013 version coming out for the same price.

The Dell 27" U2713 will be out soon So I'm guessing the Dell 30" U3013 should follow not long after

Guys, more likely than not, this is a refurbish model, which doesn't say on their own website. However, on their Ebay page, the item condition is "Manufacturer refurbished".

I'm sorry OP, but I've gotta neg this deal.

Also, there's no cables whatsoever included. The original "What in the box" section from Dell got whole lot more than just "monitor with stand" as shown on the website

    • I've sent my mate an email to ask him exactly what he got. He'll be the best judge, rather than emailing/calling up the store.

      • cheers OP, I would keen to know as well. Since you did mention your friend gets 3 year waranty with the monitor, which I don't think is the case for refurbished Dell monitor.

        • I've updated the post with new info. Seems you were right.

        • thanks for the info, the 3 year warranty seems to make up for the fact it is refurbished.

        • Technically 4 if you include the 1 year from Massa. I'd say that's not bad if I were to drop $999 on it. Refurbished is pretty much like new working condition.

  • Way better technology to spend big bucks on this or next year. And this is what Dell is watching.

Initially, OLED TVs will be priced exorbitantly, but prices should drop fairly
quickly. NPD DisplaySearch predicts that the price of a 55-inch OLED model could
plummet roughly 50 percent to around $4000 by the end of 2013, and continue
falling to the $1500 range by the end of 2015.

That same thing will happen for monitors (OLEDS).
