We put no rinse aid but run the rinse aid cycle anyway, to rinse the detergent off.
Being a tight arse pays in unexpected ways sometimes. :P
We put white vinegar as rinse aid as it helps remove calcium deposits on glassware. Doesn't leave any vinegar smell either.
If you add in the hardwater salt dispenser, one part olive oil and a teaspoon of mustard, press start on the vinegar you get a excellently emulsified salad dressing.
This is a poor study no offense. They're blasting cells in a petri dish with dishwashing detergent. It's no wonder they'll see adverse effects on the cells.
And they even state themselves that the household dishwasher detergents did not elicit any cytotoxicity on Caco-2 cells at 1:80,000 dilution.
A 1:80,000 dilution is what is used in a household dishwashing.
So unless someone's drinking this stuff, I wouldn't be too concerned.
A poor study would be people removing dishes mid cycle, using rinse aid, or running short or cold cycles that don't dissolve all the detergent, or a combination of.

Wow! when did Finish Classic Tablets get so expensive. I remember picking them up for $12.99 all the time not that long ago, now RRP is $26. They even took the ball out a while back that that hasn't kept the price down.
Yes I still have the ones with the balls in them - from Reject Shop sales at $9.99.
