  • I bought a bunch during the last sale on ShopBack and there’s about 10 $100 gift cards I don’t know what to do with. Can’t add it to Apple wallet and not working in officeworks checkout

    • @AustinBlack might be able to help you here.

      • No, he won't.

In fact, the BHN customer service is ABSOLUTELY f***ing useless.
If there was a worst customer service from hell, I would rate BHN 1 million rungs below in that ladder.

They still haven't fixed the issue of not being able to add certain range of Ultimate Home cards to your mobile wallet, despite their prominent marketing of this feature on the product packaging.

Just ask our GC expert @WookieMonster.

        • +3

          I will try!

          • +2

@AustinBlack: My personal experience that your 'trying to help' does absolutely nothing at all to improve on the utterly appalling customer service offered by BHN.
Given that you are not part of the Customer Service Team, please be aware that until BHN improves the level of after-sales-service, any offers you make here simply makes the situation worse.

As a note to other OzBargain users:
The discount is great and if things go smoothly with the cards and where you want to use them, thats great.
However, if you need any help or support from the company behind the cards (Blackhawk Network) their level of Customer Service is the worst you will probably ever encounter and they will likely do nothing to actually help you.

            • @Wolfy: Hi Wolfy, I escalated your case and was advised the matter had been resolved with the retailer you purchased from. I am not sure what more I could do to assist you. If this is not correct, by all means please message me where things are at and I will have the case re-opened.

              • @AustinBlack: BHN Customer Support closed my tickets (without any other contact), 3 days after I contacted you and before the issue was fully resolved with the card-retailer, so there is no reason for me to change my views of BHN Support.

        • I don't disagree with BHN's beyond rubbish customer service. However, @AustinBlack did manage to get my Restaurant Choice gift card issue sorted. Worth a shot is all I am saying

          • @friednoodles88: Yes. I direct messaged both Austin Black and James Hawk about this issue in early December. BTW, I assume these guys are the founders of BHN.

This issue just doesn't affect one person, it affects a lot of people who happen to have a Ultimate Home Card with a card number that falls within a specific range. If so, you cannot add the card to any mobile device wallet (fails with refer to issuer, i.e. BHN).

    • +2

Once you add it onto your myprepaidcentre account, you can see your card details. Use those and add it manually onto Apple wallet.

Regarding to use at OW, just tell the staff at checkout that you’re paying via Visa card. Tap it like how you usually tap your debit/credit cards

      • I can’t manually add them. Says to contact issuer or to try again.

I can’t use it physically in store at OW because I cant add it to a wallet. What I meant is I can’t checkout with the VISA card online. Gives me an error

        • Is it possible you have the EFTPOS version of the card instead of the visa?

          • @Romen: No I have the VISA version. I've successfully added and used 2-3 cards on my device + family member's devices

        • My partner uses ApplePay and had no issues manually adding the cards. I use Android and couldn't add it via GooglePay but when I switched to Samsung Pay I was able to add the cards and tap & pay with no issue. A pain but worth a shot?

    • Random question: is your Apple account’s Country/Region set to Australia?

    • Please send me a private message about this and I will try to get some help for you :)

  • +1

It will be better if it were 10%

    • +1

It'd also be better if it were 100%. Now that's a bargain

    • Better than 0% :)

  • so can i buy 2x $1000 to use at jb hifi?

    • You can use multiple cards in store but only 1 card per online order.

      • oic! what if the item is online only, can i still go into the store and place the order?

        • No idea sorry.

  • Can these be used at goodguys online?

    • +1

Yes, but you can only use 1x Ultimate Everyone gift card on the TGG online store (and the TGG Commercial online store).

If you want to use more than 1x Ultimate Everyone gift card on TGG online, please note the following (and it is from this FAQ):

The Good Guys’ website will only allow the redemption of one Ultimate gift card per online transaction, as The Good Guys’ website cannot handle split payments across multiple Visa cards.

The workaround is to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase a The Good Guys gift card directly from a The Good Guys physical store. It is not possible to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase a The Good Guys gift card online, as The Good Guys sells The Good Guys gift cards online via a third-party seller (True Rewards).

However, a maximum of two The Good Guys gift cards can be redeemed in one online transaction (and this can be in conjunction with one Ultimate gift card).

Please note the FAQ does not cover the TGG Commercial online store; if you want to use more than 1x Ultimate Everyone gift card on TGG Commercial, follow these instructions.

Please don't buy this card… My $350 already stuck with them. Please read this..

Thank you for contacting Ultimate Gift Card Support. We hope you are well,

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience experience faced at the merchant, we regret the difficulties.

We understand your concern and also that you attempted to use 4 (3x$100 and 1X$50.00) ultimate gift cards to pay part of one transaction of $444.60. Let us inform you that based on the Terms and Conditions The available balance in each gift card cannot be exceeded otherwise the transaction will decline.

Use the Ultimate gift card at a participating retailer’s online store by entering the required information on their checkout page. Enter the card information in the credit/debit card section and please ensure the current balance of the Ultimate Gift Card is enough for the entire purchase as most online merchants cannot accept the combination of an Ultimate Gift Card

    • Which retailer are trying to make a purchase online with your Ultimate gift cards?

    • +2

Let us inform you that based on the Terms and Conditions The available balance in each gift card cannot be exceeded otherwise the transaction will decline.

Uh, wow, that's incredibly skeezy. Being unable to use them to do part payments basically means you won't be able to fully use the balance of the cards - at least not without careful planning on what you buy.

Yeah, negging the deal and avoiding these guys, yikes.

      • +4

Huh? Of course the available balance can't be exceeded, it's a pre paid card.

    • If you are trying to buy online, on most retailers sites you can't enter multiple card numbers but in a store you just need to advise them you need to split the payment if the card balance isn't enough to cover the total. In this example you would need to have them split the payment into 3 x $100 and 1 x $50.00 and then pay the balance owing with cash or whatever bank card you have. Hope this helps!

      • I have tried everything can't split, can't use in store and can't use it in the google wallet. Buy my cads I will give you 10% off.

        • Depends where you are using them in store. I've never had issues with split payments in any large retailer.

          • @carlordau: I tried to use in good guys(online and instore) and jb hifi(in store) both stores same issue.

            • @Katz77: Do you have:

              • physical Ultimate gift cards, or
              • Ultimate eGift Cards?
              • @WookieMonster: Egift cards

                • @Katz77: Strange.

I get that it did not work online, as you were trying to charge $444.60 onto a Visa card with only $100 (or $50) available.

I am a little perplexed about it not working instore at The Good Guys or JB Hi-Fi.

                  • I’m assuming you had no issues adding the eGift Cards to a mobile wallet first?

                  • If so, I’m assuming you told the staff members at both participating retailers that you wanted to do split payments and redeem $100 (or $50) from a card and redeem each card separately?

                  • @WookieMonster: Yes I added all the cards in my google wallet. GG we're able to scan it but payment did not go through ( after splitting the payments) and Jb told me we can't scan this egift card and they tried to debit $69 from one of my card but their system did not recognize the Google pay. They told me we can't help ya.
                    Very disappointed 🙁

                    • @Katz77: Scan? What were they trying to scan? That makes no sense to me.

                      • @WookieMonster: Gift card Bar code in my g wallet.
How do you use this card?

                        • +1

@Katz77: Ultimate eGift Cards (e.g. the ones sold in this deal) do not come with barcodes at all. (Well, I have purchased Ultimate eGift Cards from Amazon and Giftz.com.au, and neither ever came with a barcode.)

Physical Ultimate gift cards come with a barcode printed on the back of the physical gift card, but that is only used for activating the gift card. It is not used for any other purpose.

Ultimate gift cards are prepaid Visa (or EFTPOS) gift cards, so they operate on the Visa (or EFTPOS) network, so you need to use them like any other Visa (or EFTPOS) card.

My advice on how to use an Ultimate gift card will depend on whether you have the EFTPOS version or Visa version. (If you are unsure what I am referring to, have a look at this FAQ.)

If you have the EFTPOS version, you must swipe the physical card on the EFTPOS terminal to redeem it, and you need to treat it like an EFTPOS card. You cannot add it to a mobile wallet, and you cannot redeem it online.

If you have the Visa version, you have some options:

                          • If you want to redeem it online, you must enter the 16-digit card number (starting with 4), the expiry date1 and CVV2 into the credit/debit card section of the online checkout. That means you can only redeem 1x Ultimate (Visa) gift card in a single online transaction, as I have not come across a participating retailer in the Ultimate gift card scheme that will let you use more than 1x Visa card in an online transaction.

                          • If you want to add a physical Ultimate gift card or an Ultimate eGift Card to a mobile wallet, you must add it to Google Wallet the same way you would add a Visa card (i.e. through the Payment card option), and you will need to enter the Ultimate gift card’s details manually. If you have registered your Ultimate gift card on MyPrepaidCentre, make sure to input the same billing name and address you used to register the Ultimate gift card in the first place. If you did not register your Ultimate gift card on MyPrepaidCentre, you can literally input anything for the billing name and address.

                          • If you shop instore at a participating retailer and you want to redeem an Ultimate gift card from Google Wallet, you must tell the staff member at the checkout that you want to redeem a card or Visa card, and if the amount owed is greater than the amount available on the Ultimate gift card you want to use, you must also tell the staff member the amount you want redeemed from that Ultimate gift card.

(If you were wondering, a lot of this information is on the Ultimate gift card website.)

                          1. For physical Ultimate gift cards, the expiry date used for purchases and adding to a mobile wallet is 12/29. For Ultimate eGift Cards, it is the expiry date shown on your MyPrepaidCentre account.

@WookieMonster: Thank you for your help

                            • +1

@Katz77: Wookie has explained your issue. There's no barcode. It's an NFC wireless payment, like any mobile banking digital card, or google pay etc. Add to wallet, select card, make sure nfc is turned on and then wave your phone over the payment terminal.

            • +1

@Katz77: I had no issue using 6 visa gift cards in jb last week, I apologised to the guy and he laughed and said 6 is nothing, people use 20 or more to buy tv's all the time.

    • The available balance in each gift card cannot be exceeded otherwise the transaction will decline.

What does that even mean? Probably that your purchase cannot exceed the balance of the gift card, possibly that they can't be bothered addressing your issue. If it's specified that only 1 GC can be used online that's out of their hands. Not being able to use a gc as part payment is neanderthal.

Found the relevant part in the T&Cs:

Each time you use the Card, you authorise us to deduct the amount of the transaction from the balance of funds on the Card. The available balance cannot be exceeded. Where a purchase exceeds the available balance, the excess must be paid using another payment method. The Card cannot be used for direct debit, recurring or instalment payments. Authorisations may be declined at some merchants. We are not liable in any way when authorisation is declined or a transaction otherwise does not proceed, regardless of reason.

So you SHOULD be able to make a part payment using these gcs.

The last sentence is legally rubbish but it tells you a lot about Blackhawk.

  • Do these take up to 48 hours to be activated?

    • In my experience:

      • Once you place an order and there are no issues with the payment method you used, it takes 3-5 minutes for a link to the unactivated eGift Card to be emailed to you.

      • Once you jump through all the hoops to activate the eGift Card and register it to your MyPrepaidCentre account (which will take another 2-3 minutes), the card will be ready for use at a participating retailer.

  • With all these online purchases, is there anyway to get a physical card instead of forwarding by using emails so I could use as a gift to my family members?
I mean not just for this deal. For any online discounted gift card deals.
    Thanks

    • We don't sell physical cards from our store, sorry!

  • SO in theory i can use this to get 7% off a PS5 at Jb-Hi-Fi ?
Can i check, if you order a $799 gift card does it come as 1 card or do you get 7 x $100 cards ?

    • +1

You can get an eGift from $5 to $1000, you just enter the amount you want loaded :)

      • GReat thank you. MEans you can get the Ps5 Disk Console for $743

        • +1

Well, I bought a $799 Ultimate Gift Card, paid $743 and just used it to get a PS5 from JB-Hi FI.

You buy the amount you need (up to $1000) and then register the card. You can then use it as a VIsa debit card with the card number, expiry date and CVV.

All done and dusted in about 10 minutes.

  • @AustinBlack HI mate just about to buy something from JB hifi. the price of the item is $358. So Do I just purchase a giftcard with value of $358 and then I can use this giftcard to redeem via JB online? Saw some dramas mentioned above so just wanted to clarify. Cheers!

    • +1

      See my post above

but the short answer is YES. You buy the value you need and use the code to pay 7% less.

    • Also dont forget jbhifi has a $30 code for myperks,if ytou spend more than $250. I would stack it as it if your buying before 23rd.

      • I didn't think that was valid for consoles.

  • If I purchase multiple egift cards (item is over $1k) from the deal above, will I be able to use the combined value to physically purchase something from Officeworks?

    • I don't see a reason why not. I have used a similar deal last time by adding them in digital wallet and tapped as Visa cards.

    • The Officeworks POS system will let staff do split payments. Someone recently used 20 Ultimate gift cards in one instore transaction.

Staff should also be happy to do split payments, but you may run into a staff member who is not so willing to do split payments for whatever reason. The last time I asked to do split payments at Officeworks, the staff member emphatically said no and I did not even consider pushing back!

  • Questions.
    If purchase $1000 X 1

    1. Do I need to swap this with Jbhifi egift card or can use the ultimate card directly to buy at participating stores?
Meaning, do I need to swap this with the participating store on the listing first before using it.

    2. Can I use 100 first at Jbhifi and 900 at good guys for example? Or must use in 1 store all amount at one time.

    3. If buying item $1500, can I use $1000 ultimate and pay the remaining using credit card/PayPal either online or physical store, is it possible?

    4. If possible, do I need to tell to use split payments?

    Thank you

    • +2
      1. For some participating retailers, you will need to swap the gift card on the Ultimate gift card website for a digital gift card from a participating retailer (e.g. EB Games). For others, you can directly use an Ultimate gift card instore and/or online. It seems like you're interested in JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys: for those two retailers, you can directly use an Ultimate gift card, but there are limitations you should keep in mind for JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys.

      2. You can redeem an Ultimate gift card as many times as you want at as many participating retailers as you want until either the balance reaches $0, or the card is cancelled/expired/suspended.

      3. Online: no. Neither JB Hi-Fi nor The Good Guys will let you use 1x Visa card + PayPal or more than 1x Visa card online. Instore: you can use multiple Ultimate gift cards in one transaction (or one Ultimate gift card and a credit card), as long as a staff member lets you do that (which they should).

      4. Yes. Before you attempt to redeem an Ultimate gift card, remember to tell the staff member you want to redeem $1000 (or whatever the available balance is) on card or Visa card, because the Ultimate gift card in this deal operates on the Visa network. If you instead say gift card, you will confuse the staff member and they may tell the checkout to redeem a JB Hi-Fi gift card or The Good Guys gift card, which will then confuse the checkout, because the checkout will not expect a Visa card to be tapped against the terminal.

      • +1

Wow, thanks again for your details explanation wookie

  • Nice deal, but since it's these dodgy manually added cards, the the risk of things going terribly wrong is much higher. The customer service for Blackhawk is non existent. It could be months or years before you even get a single reply. If you are risk averse, this one may be worth avoiding.

      I will help you :)

Are you on the Ultimate gift card website or the Giftz website? The deal is on the Giftz website, so don't click the link in the table in OP's description. Instead, click on the thumbnail in the OP's description.

      • +1

        Thanks you kindly.

  • I want to clarify, Im looking to buy something worth 2k on jbhifi online.
Im looking to buy 1x $1000 egift card here and pay the remainder with zip pay, will this be allowed.

    • No.

An Ultimate Everyone eGift Card is essentially a prepaid Visa gift card that can only be redeemed at a number of participating retailers (of which JB Hi-Fi is one). In other words, it functions as a Visa card.

There is currently no way to split a payment on the JB Hi-Fi website between a Visa card and Zip.

If you were able to use your Ultimate Everyone eGift Card to purchase 2x $500 JB Hi-Fi gift cards, then you would be able to use the JB Hi-Fi gift cards in conjunction with Zip. Keep in mind that the JB Hi-Fi gift cards will be redeemed first, then the remaining amount will be charged to Zip, so choose the amount you load onto an Ultimate Everyone eGift Card accordingly.

Btw, you may be able to use an Ultimate Everyone eGift Card to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards through the JB Hi-Fi website, but there is a chance that JB Hi-Fi's online systems will reject the card or cancel an order. You have a better chance of purchasing a JB Hi-Fi gift card using an Ultimate Everyone eGift Card in a physical JB Hi-Fi store, but if you get a particularly vigilant staff member who figures out what you're trying to do, they can stop the transaction.

  • I bought one card and I'm trying to use online at officeworks but getting an error:
There was an error processing your order. Please try again or contact customer service centre on 1300 OFFICE (633 423).

    • @bluesand4 - I was getting the same error at Anaconda. Try exchanging for a gift card if that is an option for Officeworks (I'm not sure)??

      • Thanks. I will keep this as the last option. Tomorrow I will pass by the store and try to redeem there first.

    • Time for some dumb questions, as there are a plethora of reasons you could be experiencing this issue:

      • What are you trying to order? (E.g. a gift card, a monitor, a furniture, stationery)

      • What is the available balance of your Ultimate gift card?

      • What is the cost of the online order you are trying to place?

      • Does the cardholder name and billing address match what you provided on the MyPrepaidCentre website?

      • Are you correctly entering the card details into the Visa/Mastercard/AMEX/Diners section of the checkout? (As a random thought, if you already have a flypay account, have you tried adding the Ultimate gift card to flypay and then using flypay as the payment method on the online checkout?)

        • I contacted Giftz support and they checked everything and could not find any issue. I will go tomorrow to the store and try to redeem it there. I was able to add it to my digital wallet.
        • I'm trying to buy a smart watch. It costs $147. My card's balance is $147.
        • When trying to check out I select Visa/master option in officeworks
        • My name and address all match everywhere
        • Since other ppl mentioned they are facing the same issue with other retailers, then it means it is an issue with Giftz system. Let's hope in-store will work.
        • Hmmm it sounds like you’re doing nothing wrong, so I wonder whether there is an issue on Officeworks’ end. I’ve heard that Officeworks is inconsistent when it comes to their acceptance of Ultimate and Celebration gift cards on their online store, even though they officially accept Ultimate and Celebration gift cards on their online store. I wonder whether it is due to Officeworks’ fraud detection system stepping in to stop the transaction.

The problem Shaz73 was facing before was actually due to Anaconda not accepting Ultimate gift cards on their online store, so it is not always due to Blackhawk Network (the gift card issuer).

You should be fine using the Ultimate gift card instore, unless you happen to go to an Officeworks store where Blackhawk Network forgot to include that Officeworks location in their systems. I’ve heard that the Cairns Officeworks store has not been included in Blackhawk Network’s systems, so I hope that is not your local store!

Btw, talking to Giftz is not very helpful, as they are only the retailer. You’d want to reach out to Blackhawk Network (the issuer), but they’re usually not very helpful either!

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Giftz support said that they don't see any kind of declined transactions on their end, despite me trying 10 times to complete the purchase online. So, it seems it is not going through to the Blackhawk network. I've sent an email to ultimategiftcards.com.au support as I couldn't find a phone number to ring.
I will update this thread tomorrow with how it will go in-store. Thanks

            • +1

@bluesand4: If Giftz or Blackhawk Network cannot see any declined transactions on their end, that usually means that it is Officeworks looking at the information you’ve provided and rejecting the transaction before they even attempt to charge anything to the card.

              • +1

@WookieMonster: Using the GC at store worked without issues. I believe they should mention that online will not work for some retailer.
                Thanks mate for your help

  • Hi. @AustinBlack. I have sent you a message. I too am having trouble redeeming online (The Ultimate Gift for Everyone card). Seems to be an issue with the CVV as I figured I'd just add it to my wallet and go instore but it won't add there either. I only purchased to take advantage of Anaconda sale and not sure when sale ends. Please reply ASAP. Thanks

    • Never mind, I sorted it. Exchanged if for an Anaconda gift card instead then paid that way :)

      • For future reference, Anaconda does not accept Ultimate gift cards on their online store. Anaconda only accept them instore (or you can exchange it for an Anaconda gift card through the Ultimate gift card website, as you found out).

        • Giftz Ultimate Active eCard did NOT work for me in July. Store tried everything they could think of but in the end I had to pay via debit card. BH's solution after I demanded a refund was to exchange for an Anaconda GC. Ymmv.

  • Trying to purchase a custom amount everyone gift card and it says

    Promotion code is not valid

    ?

    • @AustinBlack

    • The gift card is sold out.
