Part of the boxing day sale. Along with some others in the Shure line.

Was in the market for a neutral-sounding IEM to use in commute, and was thinking about some Chi-fi offerings but when Shure is at half price I personally pulled the trigger on this one.

Shure tend to tune their IEMs for vocal monitoring on stage and this seems to be no exception.

The TruthEar Hexa will sound far more neutral with far better treble extension and technical performance. It's leapt up as the new price-performance leader in the $70-$200 bracket.

If you don't need the Shure-style stage fitment, this deal is a skip, and in reality should be sold for half this price.

    • Thank you. Hexa is actually the one I was very interested in as people says it is quite neutral sounding in its class. I am not that familiar with the chifi offerings and I am a bit worried about the v-shaped signature from many of them, so I thought shure would be a safer bet. Now you made me hesitate…

Hexa is an easy buy without demo, and is competing up towards the level of the Moondrop Kato and 7Hz Timeless with a driver configuration similar to the Moondrop Blessing 2.

Those three are IEMs that could happily compete in the $1000+ space, they just didn't burn as much money on R&D to get the product.

        • Thanks again. I am now considering buying both from Amazon and test them, and keep the one I like. To see if Hexa really lives up to the hype. I am not expecting some $1000 space, as long as it provides a more balanced sound more suitable for classical, I will be convinced.

Does Amazon allow me to retune after trying?

@cello: You'll have to check specific policies, but I think you might be in for a re-stocking fee.

I would strongly recommend the Hexa, especially for classical.

Picked up a pair of Hexa's out of the first batch and listening to Dark Side of the Moon as I type this. Absolutely amazing for the price, lovely neutral sound and great detail. Good for the warm weather, I'm usually sporting Focal Radiance.

      do you use apple products?

  • I certainly appreciate these deals and more so the comments, as I - like a lot of people - only know of the common brands, Sony, Klipsch, Bose, Sennheiser etc

  • Not worth it anymore. For neutrality even the etymotic er2 can fulfil this at 1/3 the price
