The 77C2 came down to $5.2k during click frenzy fwiw

    • This is what I always come looking in the comments for. Are these new deals better than the old.

      Good stuff, cheers!

is 55” model good as bigger ones (like, no sacrifice of higher end functions etc)?

  • +1

    Great price

  • Can't see any detailed reviews on this, is this better, same or worse than a C1 ?

    • It’s the C1 panel with the processor from the newer C2 series. So..better than a C1

    • +1

CS is C2 processor with C1 panel.

    • +1

I have the 77-inch CS and it's good.

  • Do I forget that I missed getting the C2 from Good Guys for 200 bucks more than this or hold out hope that it might come back?
Old panel new processor with this one right?

Best tv prices are run out from March to June generally for previous years stock being cleared…

  • sigh… paid 1800 for my 55C1 thought it was a good deal…

    • +1

No need to have regret. Rtings show it's not nearly as much of a jump as people make it out to be.

  • +1

Price matched with my local for the 65 inch. Perfect!!!

    • +1

Awesome glad it was of help!

  • Hi All,

does anyone knows why there is such huge gap in price between 65 and 75 (or 77) inch TV set models?
It is the same story for LED tvs but the price gap is bigger in OLED ranges.

Is it common practice or I should better wait for the deal where the difference between 1000 - 1500 AUD (for 65 and 75“) to get 75 inch model?

    • Maths

    • I thought it had something to do with the low yield of OLED panels compared to other panels?

      • Sorry mate, I might have confused you with my question.

For example, in this case 65 inch OLED costs 2430 and if I want to get 77 inch I have to pay extra 1920 AUD. In other words for the price of one 77inch OLED TV I can buy one 65 inch and one 55 inch LG CS OLED, similar TV model and technology (which is rip off).

Because I have not been following Australian TV market for long time , I though someone (more experienced) in this forum can help me with advice whether or not it is normal pricing. I really want to get 75inch but it is hard for me to justify to pay almost double price of 65 inch model to get extra 10 or 12 inch screen size.

        • Hey, yes that's what I meant to answer. Sorry for the confusion hah.
It's the high manufacturing cost. Much harder to get a perfect panel out of a 77” TV compared to a 65”, and they sell a lot fewer too. So it's a lower yield of good panels.
That's just what I heard / read though.

    • It's exponentially bigger.
      1x1 to 2x2 = 3 dif
      2x2 to 3x3 = 5 dif

Thank you MaccDogg for your help, When I was comparing panel size it was not making much sense that price

Average 75 inch TV dimension, 65.436.8=2406.72 sqinch
        Average 65 inch TV 56.7
        31.9=1808.73 squinch

But I guess what @octeau mentioned, makes sense. High manufacturing cost of not faulty screen, logistics, low manufac. numbers etc.

          65in x 1.1538461= 75in
          (so 75inch ~15% longer diagonally)

Apply 15% to the area of the 65in and you fall short of your 75in surface area mentioned.
          1,808.73sqi × 1.1538461=2,086.99sqi(~15%)

The 75 inch screen has ~33% more surface area.
          1,808.73sqi x 1.3306131926=2,406.72(33% more)

Its not ~80% more like the price but 33% is closer to 80% than 15% and gives me more appreciation for the price difference.

@MaccDogg: Thanks mate. I am relatively new in the TV market and it is quite hard for me to find the right balance. Thanks to people like you and "octeau", I am filling a gap in my knowledge.

JBHIFI also dropped the price for this model ($10 more expensive than prices in this trend). Thankfully, I have got the stack of 15% and 10% discount cards , and just need to patiently wait until I see all the deals before I pull the trigger for the most suitable TV:)

            • @Arsenal147: I've always regretted buying modestly. I bought a cheap $250 monitor, not long later ended up buying a $500 monitor because it really didn't cut it, the colours were shit. If you have a large open living space and use a TV alot, buy once ;) Ill be upgrading soon too and looking at the a90j or C2 82"

              • @MaccDogg: To be honest, I also want to get something valuable for long term and I would have paid for good +75inch OLED TV. My challenge is that I do not use much TV and I am struggling to justify price increase for TV over 65 inch.

                • @Arsenal147: The Sony a90j is a comparable OLED to the C2 with a lower price point. Fully Array is also a good way to compromise a little quality for size.

@MaccDogg: @MaccDogg and @octeau thank you so much for help and comments. I ended up getting LG CS 77 inch. After negotiating boxing day prices, the price difference between 65in and 77 inch was 1700AUD. Since I was using 10% discount cards, I thought it was worth it to pay extra for size upgrade.

The only thought that killing me now is that for 1700 i could have purchased another LG CS 65 inch ))))

  • +2

I have the 55, get it, unreal product.

    • How much did you pay?

      • 1.8kish $150-200 more than this, absolutely no regrets.

        • Thanks mate

  • Can anyone confirm these models support DLNA?

  • +1

Very disappointed with the LG oled TV quality. My c1 77 cannot turn on after 12.5 months, just over the 12 months warranty.
Waiting for LG to send a technician to check and fix it. Not sure when as it's Xmas season now and also not sure whether they will charge me for the fix.
Regardless, it's frustrating not to have a TV during the holiday..

    • +3

Don't pay them. Tell them a TV that cost this much should be expected to work for more than just 12 months.

      • +2

Exactly, they shouldnt charge him either. Many people have got LG warranty repairs after 2 or 3 years with no fee. ACL would probably say it should last a minimum of 3 years for a high end OLED TV.

      • Thx for the advice. Will argue if they play the out of warranty card.

    • +1

      Yeah, they'll fix it dw

    • To be honest you've got bad luck, sorry to hear that. Also as the others are saying, we have Australian Consumer Law, it is unrealistic for a TV to stop working after 12 months, so demand a replacement, a CS would be perfect.

      • +1

That's a good tip. I will try that once LG comes back to me.
