Installed mine two weeks ago, brilliant product.
Straight forward installation, easy set up, fast response with no lag.
Never have to carry a bulky remote ever again!

    • Question, is the door sensor cordless or do you have to run a cable?

      • +2

        Cable.
I’d like to avoid as much cordless as I can lol, too much work for changing/charging batteries.

      • +2

Corded but you only need to run it up the channel to your door. Then the other part of the reed switch gets attached to the door (no cables for that)

    • Never have to carry a bulky remote ever again!

Carry your keys in event of power failure, though!

      • I can park my car in the driveway XD

  • Yeah, mine has gotten real dodgy, only opens and closes the garage 5% of the way then says there is an obstruction. Reset it, downloaded firmware, reinstalled and still doing the same. I did work well for a while though…
The door works perfectly with the wall button or with the clicker that was provided with it.

Mine was a bit funny too but then I increased the trigger duration in the settings and it's working perfectly fine

    • +1

Have you tried to adjust opening time in advanced settings?

what the diff non homelit vs homekit?

    • If you live in apple world, then you'll need homekit. Also for home assistant integration, it could be useful (not necessary though)

    • If you use Home Assistant, HomeKit will give you local integration with no cloud dependency.

  • Homekit = iOS

    Non homekit = android

    • Not as simple as that, if you use HA, HomeKit gives you local integration.

  • Had mine for about a year.

    Works well.

Wish I knew how to add it into Waze though - people say you can do it, but I haven't ever been able to figure out how?

    • When using Waze as the navigation app on CarPlay and your location is within 500 meters or so of your home address, navigate to the main CarPlay Home Screen (with all the app icons). Then, swipe across to the left. It will give you a widget style view, with the Waze map on the right side, and search/music/garage door widgets on the left. The garage door widget lets you control the door :)

  • So what happens if you have both android and apple users in your family?

Also, do you just say Hey Siri/Ok Google to open the garage?

    • +1

Homekit is Apple tax version. Has all the same Android stuff as in the cheaper model and adds Apple support.

    • +1

Got for the one that supports homekit and it should work with both OS

    • Yes you can just tell relevant assistant to open the door.

You can also set a pin that you have to recite to open the door.

  • Have had a horrible bug since latest iOS major version. Haven’t been able to control anything outside of wifi. Apparently resolved in tvOS 16.2 though.

Edit: the issue is not specific to one device, it’s ALL devices!

  • Relatively new garage so hopefully is compatible. Will be handy to ask the hey google to shut her before going to bed

  • Has anyone worked out how to use one of these bay boys with geofencing so it auto opens when you get close to home and closes automatically when you leave home?

    • If you use Home Assistant, shouldn't be too hard to do.

      • I’ve found my Home Assistant only works when I’m at home connected to my wifi

        • Are you sure you have a valid public IP address and not GCNAT?
If you do, then setting up remote access is not too hard.
There's also the easy (and not free) way of using home assistant cloud

          • @FreeFrag: Thanks for that info. I don’t know how to check if I have a public IP address and not GCNAT…
That annual fee is tempting though for the convenience

  • Can these be used on sliding gates?

    • Yes, any motor with a relay trigger.

I have previously used remootio and had all the geofencing, key sharing and logging of gate operations. This product sounds very similar at a quarter of the price, a great option in my opinion.

I installed one 3 weeks ago have had issues with it loosing connecting to wifi. I have 100% connection then randomly it will have n/a connection. I need to power cycle for it to come back.
Ive tried to uninstall and reconnect but still goes back to n/a.

I have heaps of items on wifi 2.4 as this is but this is the only item that requires consistent power cycle.

    • Sounds like it could be a router issue.

I had similar problems, not with my garage opener exactly but it was since I had so many devices connected to the crappy router the ISP supplied (the proof was usually when friend's kids would be there all at once with their devices connected and things like the TV would not let them watch Netflix, which worked fine otherwise).

I swapped out to a mesh system and all my connection issues went away

      • I got an asus ax86u. I dont really want to factory reset it.

    • How’s the Wi-Fi reception on your mobile in the garage? Could be poor reception causing unstable connectivity.

      • Strong.. one wall plus 3 meters.

        • Umm, copied from meross specifications, see if your Wi-Fi settings are compatible.

          Wireless Standards
          IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4GHz, 1T1R

          Wireless Security
          Support 64/128 bit WEP, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK
          *Does not support Enterprise Wi-Fi.

  • Is anyone having issues with Google Assistant in that when wanting to open the door it confuses the 4 digit pin number you tell it for a date format (DD/MM) instead? It then does not open the door!

    • +1

I had some issues with my first PIN but then chose another PIN that worked.

      • Thanks I did contemplate doing just that, but today I tried saying the pin as "# thousand, # hundred and ##" and it finally worked! Might change it though like you did as it may be easier to say it.

  • got mine during the last deal and have wondered why I waited so long to get one.

It's been great to be able to double check whether door is closed & a bonus to be able to open/close the door with apple watch, iphone, carplay in car… lol

great little peace of mind kind of product.

  • Still loved mine but you should know that the Homekit version can NOT work fully offline (i.e. with Internet access blocked) as a certified HomeKit accessory should be. At boot it really wants to connect to their online server or won't start its HomeKit service and shows as no response accessory. It will work offline after this one-time connection, but may stop working again after a few weeks.

This behaviour is visible in at least their Wi-Fi garage opener and the new thermostat. Can't assume other products. Just thought you should know if that's something you care. But I believe most people haven't realise this or doesn't care anyway.

  • Doesn't seem to have Australia' ATA Securalift openers listed

  • Can anyone just stand outside the house and shout to trigger the garage door to open? "Alexa, open my garage door". The below review is concerning

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/customer-reviews/R15SUXFHHYQT1N…

    • You can set a security pin so they would need to yell that as well

They would need to speak into one of your speakers or phones as well (the unit doesn't have its own mic)

    • lol makes me wanna try !

  • Has anyone set this up on a B&D garage door?

    • managed to set mine up fine. the cables went into the GRND and OSC holes

  • Anyone know if you can reverse the open/close state trigger on the sensor? Would rather it thinking its open when the two sensors are aligned rather than closed for ease of installation

    • But then if the door was only part closed (i.e. sensor not aligned) it would think it’s actually closed, when it’s not. Leaving your home/entry open while you might think it’s closed?

  • I already have a Bosch alarm system plugged into my Steel-Line garage door (ST50EVOB).
The alarm remote has an extra button which opens/closes the garage door.

Can the Meross opener and Bosch alarm be plugged into the same terminal sockets (Push button, common) on the Steel-Line garage door?

They aren't going to short each other out or do any damage, considering they would use the exact same socket?

  • Thanks OP, took the plunge. The compatibility checker was really helpful.

  • what is the returns policy of this?- is it free ?
Till when is this boxing day sale ?

  • Can someone confirm if Merlin Garage door is compatible ( looks like Merlin is under Chamberlain group… but model isnt listed in the compatibility check..)

  • Anyone looking at selling theirs?
