ASRock Radeon RX 6500 XT Phantom Gaming D 4GB OC Graphics Card $199 + Delivery @ Mwave

90

Who's up for a nice controversial gpu? Yeah yeah PCIe x4 got it.

However as an absolutely viable, modern, 1080p gpu for under $200? Seems like an acceptable deal, especially considering entry level next gen cards aren't coming for a while.

BONUS Dead Island 2 Game Code via redemption!

If anyone is interested in the game.

Why not the RX 6600 for $299

    • +4

Yeah about 50% more performance for 50% more cost. I'd definitely go the 6600, but if the option is paying your mortgage or not, then the 6500XT at this price seems reasonable.

Tbh if your financial situation cannot afford spending another 100$ for a better gpu with the same p/p, you shouldn't consider build the pc at all

        • +4

Some people are on some pretty tight budgets atm die to rising oower costs, fuel hike + many more reasons. So i wouldn't go as far saying "you shouldn't build at all".
For some, this card could be all they need to enjoy light gaming or rigs for the kids. By the time you save another $100 the deal could be over/sold out.

        • So you're saying those struggling shouldn't play computer games? Great empathy buddy.

          • @incipient: If it's just 'play computer game', buy a CPU with iGPU is enough, like the amd 5600g

Or even a 2nd hand gtx 1660/super/ti will do if you really need a gpu. 6500xt is just in a weird spot to buy now

            • @Masticccc: Granted, it is. If it had x8 lanes it would be in a much less weird place.

While I personally buy 2nd hand parts, I don't like recommending them to people, especially GPUs. I've too often seen people get a "well priced" card to realise after a few months it has some visual artefacts.

Even laptops etc, if you're a bit techy and comfortable with the risk, second hand is always better performance per $.

If you're seriously struggling to pay your mortgage over $100, you aren't in a position to build or buy a gaming PC right now…

Would rather get a used 1660 super for the same price.

  • Also worth reminding people that this card doesn't even have a video encoder onboard. Utter turd of a card, would avoid at pretty much any price (and I've seen them sell for $100-150 on Bookface, wouldn't even go there). Find a 1660 Super/Ti or 1070 for similar price used.

For budget builds it’s terrible, as in a budget build you are likely to end up using a pcie gen 3 cpu of motherboard, in which this gpu tanks performance

  • the legit only thing stopping me from buying is the lack of hardware encoder, I'll keep waiting for a decent RX6600 deal
