Cheers, got this for $12 with the plus voucher.

      • how did you get down to $12?

        • +3

Monthly eBay plus $5 voucher, it’s private code, can be used on anything above $15

          • +2

@ozvictor: I get the monthly plus $5 voucher too but mine has in the conditions "when you spend $50 or more in one transaction during the Offer Period".

Edit - Just saw there are 2 $5 voucher codes. The other one as a minimum spend of $15

I remember using these for geometry.

    • Did you pass?

      • +2

Only after eating too many prunes.

Has anyone given them a few good test clicks together?

I highly recommend people get the Joseph Joseph tongs instead. They are so much easier to clean and grease/food doesn't get trapped inside. They also have legs so the tips remain off surfaces.

I will never go back to those flimsy aluminium ones again.

Gonna guess you haven't used these OXOs, because I would not describe them as flimsy at all. Also these are apparently brushed stainless steel and not aluminium either.

      • Rivets are aluminium rest is stainless steel. Yes I have had OXOs before (partner is from USA and OXOs are a US brand so I am quite familiar with them as they are in every Walmart and TJ Maxx).

The OXOs are hard to keep clean in the middle part of each tong and that and the feet were enough reasons for me to recommend the Joseph Joseph ones. Give them a go - you'd never go back!

Other comments indicate stainless steel rivet. Same with amazon comments. Need more feedback from buyers of previous deal..

          • @john_conner: Didn't buy from previous deal but have had them a while. I can't tell what they rivets are made of. They don't look aluminium to me but I (like many people) am not an expert in visually identifying metals. A magnet does not want to stick to the rivets, at least not as well as to the body but that is inconclusive.

I hand wash most things so I can't report on rusting of possible aluminium. I use a nylon brush to clean the inside easily enough.

I can say they are very sturdy, well aligned, won't melt and I can lift heavy roasts with confidence.
I haven't tried glass-filled nylon tongs so I can't comment on how they would compare in those regards.

            • @bargainpersona: Thank you, I’ve ordered a pair and will report back as to whether the rivet is aluminium / dishwasher safe!

              • @john_conner: Thanks all for confirming. Mine arrived today (mini tongs). Definitely stainless steel rivets

        • +2

Rivets are most definitely stainless steel and not aluminium.

          • +3

@OZKap: I've been using (and dishwashing) OXO tongs for years and I've never had any of them rust.

    • Heat resistant to 200°. Might not be able to take flames from a BBQ, but good for lower heat use.

These Oxos are much better than any plastic tongs. I really like Joseph Joseph stuff, and the legs are a nice touch, but the Oxos are super sturdy (I even use them to take heavy trays out of the oven), perfectly aligned so I can pick up really small things and super durable. They're miles better than the typical flimsy aluminium tongs, and they're all stainless steel so I just throw them in the dishwasher and they come out perfectly clean.

  • +1

The rivet is of aluminium, so better of handwashing this rather than in the dishwasher.

    • Thank you for the heads up. I've had bad experience with aluminium in the dishwasher so I'll pass on these

    • +2

The rivet is stainless steel and they are 100% dishwasher safe, at least for the longer ones. I doubt it would be different for the short ones.

  • Got the 12-inch, cheers.

  • The nylon headed ones are on sale too here

    • Estimated delivery with free shipping between 30 January - 6 February for my address in VIC Metro.

    • I nearly bought it, then realised they are not OXO

    • +2

Other tongs can be had elsewhere, it is true.

  • these are shit, the joints come apart

  • Get the long one if you can. More versatile.

  • I got a pair of these. They are really horribly flimsy
I got the exact one from catch and the tips bend after just a few use when I was trying to scoop some cooked pasta. Would avoid it if possible.
