These are garbage. The cheap bread that coles sells tastes better than these.

    • Yep I agree, colesworth pre-baked croissants are rubbish. But then I came across these at my local now they are amazing even better than the local bakery in my opinion. I've watched the price on these and they were originally $3.95 maybe a year ago but have had 2 price increases since and now at $4.75 (for a 2-pack). But still better than the local. After talking to the baker there 'they say' it's the same croissant that they sell on this 'deal' but shipped to them completely uncooked/frozen then baked instore (I know, in contrast to my link that says made in France). If that's the difference why on earth don't they sell these the same way to the public (frozen/uncooked) for maximum freshness! I'd be buying them nearly every day. C'est la vie.

      • Interesting. I'll keep my eyes out for the ones you mentioned.

To be fair I used to work in cafes and would bag up the croissants for myself instead of throwing them away at the end of the day. My expectations for what makes a croissant is a bith high.

Bread in the shape of a croissant doesn't cut it for me unfortunately.

EDIT: Someone else here recommended these which could be the same as the ones in the fancy package you linked to.

        • Well I've finally tried those frozen ones from Coles… They are definitely similar to 'coles finest' pre-cooked ones, but half the size. However eating them fresh from the oven is a delicious advantage.

          • @shkippy: Yeah I checked the ingredients and they are different but like you say fresh is best.

Thanks for getting back to me.

These are a great way of getting out of having to do Christmas lunch next year.

  • Lane cove NSW coles price is still holding strong at $6.5.

Not sure why the negative comments about these. I find them much better than Woolworths ones and, for the price (which is great), they really are quite nice.

Not comparable to true French croissants but that's an unfair comparison.

    • You mean true Austrian croissants

Yeh. Not sure what the above comments are talking about, these are far superior than Woolies ones. Not anything like the real deal but damn decent.

    $4 is an awesome price.

Agree. I prefer a humble croissant over the crusty luna style. Also, went to france and the backpackers i stayed out had a huge box of croissants for brekky every morning and they were comparable to coles/woolies ones, and presumably were french…

Lol imagine paying $10 normally for that

  • +1

Unfortunately, my local coles still sell them for $10.

obviously not in the league of a lune or laurent croissant, but great base for bread and butter pudding for christmas compared to using helgas or tip top white bread.

    Costco…
    They sell for $12
    Baked on the day
    Delicious - in my opinion

    • +2

I agree. I personally don't think the Coles ones are bad by any measure.

      For store brands: Costco>Coles>Woolies

meh, most supermarket croissants are just sweet bread, masquerading as a croissant…they used to be pretty good, but haven't been for a long, long time. Not sure what the Coles brand frozen back at home ones are like now. I have never seen the ones in the pic shown in Vic though, so unsure what those ones are like

      Coles frozen croissants are good.

      • wish they were a little cheaper though. They used to carry a brand one that would go half price every so often, but now that one is gone and they only have their own brand ones (which are prob just repackage of the branded ones, but won't go on special)

  • I just went and they are all sold out!

  • Costco > Aldi > Coles > Woolies

By the way Costco Belgian waffle is the same as the Aldi. Good quality stuff.

  • Are these different to the ones Coles sells in 3 and 4 packs on foil trays?

  • legit cardboard

  • These are the best (and only) supermarket croissants to buy.
